    Love the pull videos, when ever I do pulls now my brain seems to not only remember my previous pulls but also yours. As I don't do pulls as much as you it's good to keep the mind set fresh. Thanks for sharing

    This was a good video in giving a lay person an idea of what goes into a repair like this.somebody left a whole mess of furniture in the street surrounded by cardboard i and need running over it, at first i didn’t think there was any damage. But when i got to work part of my front bumper was busted by the fog light all the way around to the splash shield. But when i open the hood it looked like it was pushed in and the drivers side fender has a gap at the top where it meets the door. Do you think that the front nose can be straightened out and what does something like that cost

  • @LakesideAutobody

    @LakesideAutobody

    It can be straightened but it will cost quite a bit I imagine. Frame work in major shops is expensive. Try a smaller mom and pop shop and see what they have to say about a price.

    Can you share your preferred tool/ method to straighten those fender brace brackets where the fender bolts on behind the bumper. Thanks

  • @LakesideAutobody

    @LakesideAutobody

    If you are talking about brackets of any shape and size, I usually remove them and clamp them in a vise - then straighten. I have even cut brackets off (if welded) to straighten them - then welded them back on. If that didn't help - ask again :)

    Where were you able to obtain the correct measurements in order to use the trim gauge?

  • @LakesideAutobody

    They have special software for that but if you don't have that or a body shop won't help you, you focus on "symmetry". In other words if a good side measures a certain amount then the bad side needs to be the same. If one diagonal measures 40" (known good), then the diagonal that was damaged has to measure that after the pull. Like making a square box - the diagonals have to be exactly the same to be square. Just like Geometry in 10th grade!! 😊

    Question. While I'm doing welding sheet metal replacement on my dog leg and wheel arch, what primer do you recommend to spray to keep my work from flash rusting? I have Spraymax 2k epoxy primer for the repair but the cans only have a 24 hour window to use. Ill save that. Thank you.

  • @LakesideAutobody

    @LakesideAutobody

    If the vehicle is inside and you are not waiting months before working on it again, you can leave it. No one worries about flash rusting in a professional body shop - maybe because the job is done quickly. Although, even cars that sat in the corner for years didn't flash rust (Michigan). If you leave it outside then yes, you might want to hit it with some epoxy primer or even spray bomb paint. You'll want to hit it with a DA anyway when going back to work on it.

    @@LakesideAutobody Yes the car is in my driveway in CT, humid here. I'm only able to work on it on a weekend as I work full time. I wanted to save the 2K epoxy sealer as the final seal before I do body filler. Any particular spray bomb primer you recommend in between weekends when I can work on it?

  • @LakesideAutobody

    @LakesideAutobody

    @@robertrobert1971 I would just grab any spray bomb primer. Just hit it lightly and the next time you work on it, hit it quick with the DA and you're right back where you left off. I like keeping one of those Speed Blasters around for hard to get areas too - like this - www.amazon.com/SpeedBlaster%C2%AE-Red-Model-007R/dp/B000IHUQ5E/ref=asc_df_B000IHUQ5E/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309735728871&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16618391200961861797&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9017131&hvtargid=pla-433803435768&psc=1 Tractor Supply carries the blasting media - like $12/bag :)
