How to stop Windows asking you to change your password every 6 weeks
Ғылым және технология
Find out how to stop your password from expiring.
If your password expires every 42 days, you're probably no safer than if you keep the same password permanently.
The command you need to type:
wmic UserAccount set PasswordExpires=False

Completly agree. Dave this was perfect. I had prepared myself for a massive slog to sort this out and was done in 5 minutes.
Why in the actual F*** would they make turning something like that off so difficult and non-intuitive... Thank you for this video.

Chill lmao, it's literally just a one line command........ It's very easy although it is not intuitive for people who are bad with computers.

@@pooblock4092 on a technical level, YES it is simple. however the majority of the End Users who have this problem are not necessarily as technically advanced as lets say you or me. i think it is a huge stupid choice to make this a DEFAULT option. there should be an easier way to disable or enable if they really want to push this feature.

Bruh I shouldn’t have to scower the fucking internet to fix dumb shit like this on my PC. Yes Microsoft is a load of fckin morons for this
finally i found this video after 8 times changing my password for the last few months 😭 great to see this type of youtube content
Easy to follow and straight to the point, thanks for not making a 1 hour video on a simple issue like this
thank you bro apparently you are the only onew on the internet who knows this

actually not even an exaggeration, just read through 3 pages of Microsoft forums before coming here, and he explains it in like 3 sentences lol.

I just did it I hope it will work over 3 months I come back again and if it worked then I will give a like 😅
This was so easy to follow. I had to type in Powershell & then in another window, click on run as administrator. It went smoothly. I will know in a while. I don’t doubt your knowledge, I just hope I did it correctly. Thanks for helping us out!
This is way better than the other tutorials who want to work with policy manager, which I don't even have in my home edition
Very much appreciated!!!!! THANK YOU!!!! This was extremely pissing me off as I know this function is a huge negative, that only encourages you to forget your password making it less secure all together!
You are a lifesaver. I've been having this issue ever since I logged into Microsoft teams for a college course and in my haste, I probably allowed the college network to make changes to my computer.
Steps were very easy to follow. Thanks for making this!
Simple, easy to follow, really good video!
Hi Dave worked for me using Windows 11 Home your videos are simple straight to the point and easy to follow well done
thank you so much! was hunting to try and find out how to change this in settings, couldn't find it, tried to get in contact with Microsoft and in the end it was here I had to come! it is beyond me why they would make this so difficult to find!
Really easy to follow along. Thanks so much
Thanks Dave for having posted this. Most vids on the matter aren't for Local and/or Windows Home users, and won't work. Fingers crossed this will. Let's see in 72 days!
Brilliant ! Thank you... no one else offered this method on youtube and yours is the only method that works !
OMG thank you so so so much! Was a second away from yeeting my laptop out of the window. This is legit the only tutorial that worked for me. Can't thank you enough 🙏
Exactly what I needed! Thanks.
Great video! Simple and straight to the point. It works, thank you for help!
Love the video. I was running out of ideas for passwords. Thanks!
Literally I was made by changing the password for more than 20 times. Thank you for this
Thank you! I’ve tried watching other videos and they were so confusing or didn’t explain the steps.
I have to say thank you so much! I know that I get really systematic with passwords when they make me redo them all the time as opposed to thrying to come up with one good one
Great video. I have been struggling to figure out how to do this and nothing else worked. All the other articles said to do something that didn't work. Thanks for the tutorial!!
This is what I've been looking for. Good Job. A new subscriber here. Keep it up Sir.
I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH!! I always had a problem with this and i eventually started running out of good passwords until i just decided to try and get some help with this. It took a while but i finally found this video's solution. Thank you! Also, is it possible if i can use my old passwords now? Or are they just unusable still?
Thank you so much! I watched another video and took it that I had to put in my user account name...was frustrated that it didn't take. Thank you again for the straightforward, easy instructions.
THANK YOU! I have been struggling with this issues for almost a year. I've tried so many things, here's to hoping this works!

@@kean1190 Yes I dont know if this video works, I followed it about 6 weeks ago to change my passwords from not expiring, I thought it worked until today so yea ig it doesnt work. So weird, why is it so hard to find the answer to this
thank you so much for your sharing! Straightforward and efficient enough !
Very helpful! Easy to follow.
Looks like it worked!! I didn't get an errors or issues. Thanks Dave!
OMG your amazing I have searched and searched and only you have helped me!!!!! Thank you soooo much 😂
Awesome! Thank you so much! This was so annoying for so long!
I've learned to click "forgot password" and change my password through my Microsoft account. I change my pin to a backup pin. Then i restart the computer and do the process all over again, but instead change my pin to the original pin. It's a lil bit of a pain in the neck but it makes more sense and is more effective for me than what's in this video
Excellent easy to follow video. Thanks you
Finally! a videos that works! thanx man!!
Amazing. Thank you.
Thanks! Also, a great example of tutorial.
omg thank you so much bro, your a lifesaver!
Dude nice video keep it up bro!!!
Works great on Windows 11 - except for my version it did not show "Powershell Admin" - It showed Terminal and Terminal (Admin) - used Terminal Admin and worked same same. Thank you for this.
Thank You.It worked like a charm ❤
Thanks a lot! Have a nice day!
Thank you!!!
Excellent. Plain language. Well done. Most imp[ortantly...it worked.
Thanks so much😂😂😂everyone has expressed thanks to you in many ways I felt as much...easy to follow...job well done

Thanks G. Changed my password while drinkin and barley got back in haha
Perfect - thanks!
Thank you!
What if it is an online account for a college or business? Any help there? Thanks for the video though, it is straight forward and to the point.
Thank you! It was simply.😀
Thank you so much!!!!
Thankyou for this really need it
Subscription well earned. Kudos
thank you this was bugging me a lot having to change every 6 weeks
Great tutorial. Seems to work
I could hug you right now. I have ADD, and this was driving me crazy !
Finally. Thank you so much.
I have a question. It says that 'the term wmic is not recognized as the name pf a cmdlet, function, script file or operable program.
thanks a lot for such good videos
thank you!
This worked a treat many thanks

Does your computer stop asking you to change your password?
You're so underrated.
Don't know if this'll work, but this is the most different from what I have done and it seems to be successful! You give me lots of hope. I hope the problem will be solved with this solution. Thanks!

Wellll, after I have done. It doesn't show anything. But one thing I know is that. Now, it never asked me to change the password again.👍 If other PCs still asking, the answer is 'it's work' !!
Thank you so much Sir..
Thank you
This is exactly what I need to do but don't seem to have Powershell admin. When I try it with the regular powershell it gives me a generic error message after I hit enter. Thanks for the video, sorry mines a bit more complicated
Thanks!
Brilliant!!
Thanks!!
thanks this helped a ton
I think the idea behind it isn't necessarily bad, for like an office computer or a public one, sure, but getting that message EVERY TIME I boot my pc (or change my password AGAIN) on my gaming PC, that has and always will be in my apartment only being used by me, yeah... its annoying to say the least so thanks.
What other things annoy you about Windows 10? Let me know and maybe I'll show you how to fix it in my next video!

Hey man, great vid. What other thing? my brother gave me his pc, which has an admin account. Naturally i wanted to create my profile and delete his admin profile. But the pc has no option to delete the main admin profile. I would love to do that so i can start 'fresh'. My brother implied he did something for it to do that (not be asble to delete the main admin). He said to just 'delete things and use that same admin account'. But i refuse to. How can i delete his main admin account when i don't see a delete option in the accounts control panel. Can you help?

How about pin?
Follow up question. Now that I've stopped it from making me change the password, can I now make it accept an old password (One that I know I will not forget).
Unfortunately this didn’t work on my Win10 PC. Ran the Admin version and typed exact cmd using my username account name... should I be running Azure cmd?
thank you so much
Man that was really annoying! thanks you for saving me !
Thanks! unfortunately the days passed and they asked again... will keep trying
Didn't work the first time on my Dell; I'm trying again and hopefully it will work this time. In the meantime, any info on this working or not working on a Dell would be appreciated.
btw for everyone whose code did not work. search powershell on the windows search bar. then select Run ISE as Administrator. then copy and paste this code: wmic UserAccount set PasswordExpires=False. It should work!
Thanks a lot, it was bothering me
Does this method works if it says 'Your organization requires that you cange your PIN'?
After one line of "Updating property (s) of etc." I get ERROR: Description = Not found.
I NEED HELP! im using a pin and it does the same thing does it still work the same since this video was made for passwords
thank you sooooooo much
thank you so mutch
THANK You
I got the notification I have to change it by tomorrow before doing this. So i'll find out tomorrow if it worked! If I don't reply to this it did.

If you still face this, make sure to "right click" on Windows Powershell and "Run as administrator"
Hi Dave. I followed your instructions for stopping Windows forcing me to change my password every six weeks. It seems to have worked. My IT manager (Son!!) tells me our server will stop it working. Is that true and how can I find out if it does work without waiting for six weeks. Robert
After a recent windows update my laptop asked to change my PIN again. Any way to reverse this?
thank you soo much
