You can slow it down by taking the seat off then take out the cylinders under it because they need to be greased again. One is for the seat and the other cylinder is for the lid. Watch the link below kzread.info/dash/bejne/mqybtsukdpTUnLw.html

Was hoping for a tip not buying a new seat especially when I jjust purchased a toilet with the slamming seat.

Yeah, I agree with the comment below. This video alluded to "FIXING" a soft close toilet set not INSTALLING one. There IS a difference. And when you show something to the camera that is behind your hand you have to turn your hand AND hold it still because we can't see through your hand! That's four minutes of my life I won't get back. Well, off to find a video that shows me how to FIX a soft close toilet seat.

So it looks like you replaced the toilet seat in and of itself. Is that the solution? There is no way to fix the current seat that slams?

Replacing is best. You can try tightening down the clamps, but overtime it will let go again, buy another toilet seat

Have to say, Kohler has a great idea with their Soft Close lid, but I'm on my 3rd one and can't get 3 years out of any of these. Getting to be to expensive to keep purchasing. Hopefully someone may come out with "How to fix your broken Soft Close lid".........this would truly be great. May just dissect my current broken one to see what makes it tick.

Tighten the screws under the bowl however it'll be temporary fix

I just bought a wood seat and the bolts flush, not like yours at all. Short of buying a seat cover, can you recommend what I can buy to make this a slow closing quite lid?

They work nice when new but with time they get hard to raise and lower. Any idea on how to relubricate or loosen hinges so it works like new again

Nearly five minutes. Take out two screw replace seat put back two screw. 😂

I'm so tired of these being referred to as "self closing" self closing implies that when you flush it closes itself. Not that you have to put your hand on it to close it, by the logic these companies have, all toilet seats are self closing. It's made searching for a reasonable priced self closing lid horrible it's just filled with these things.

Self closing are smart toto toilets they'll even open for you if you want drop 1500

My son has autism and it doesn't matter how many times we show him how to close it or tell him not to slam he, he does. And I found this a good solution.
