How To Stop Pulling On Leash - Train Loose Lead Walking With Scent Rewards
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Train your dog to automatically check in with you when there’s something they want to investigate in the environment, rather than dragging you towards it!
This video tutorial covers how to train a dog to ask permission to go and sniff. You get a dog that walks nicely without pulling your arm off, and your dog gets to experience the mental stimulation and enrichment that’s so important to their well-being - everybody wins!
You will need:
- A standard leash (not retractable, rope or bungee)
- A clicker (beacondogtraining.com.au/blog/...)
- Some tasty treats
- A LOW DISTRACTION ENVIRONMENT (even the concreted area in the video isn’t the best choice, an interior space like a living room where the dog is totally relaxed would be perfect)
Starring Bowie the Vizsla with trainer Maddie Ross (CPDT-KA), with cameos by Goku the Malamute, Clay the Husky, Roland the Kelpie/Dachshund and Bella the Labrador/Border Collie/Belgian Shepherd.
Happy training Dog Geeks!

Great video 🌟
Love it.
The only problem i see with this method is that you are teaching the dog , that EVENTUALLY , if he or she is a good boy/girl then they get the distraction, but usually, the distractions are many times are something we want to avoid completely , so rewarding WITH the distraction might make your dog confused and impatient when they stop getting the distraction all together later on
