Sorry for your troubles brother. It's amazing how people always do bad work and you pay good money. Nice job fixing up the mess-up. I am sure you have seen the Maxxair Vent fan which would seem like a great solution for the van. Like here in New England and you being in Old England it rains all the time and the Maxxair can be left open in the rain. Just a thought. thx BC

be aware though that my saw, a regular stanley bought from bandq about a decade ago doesn't. looks like it has a 45 degree angle but it isn't, as i found out to my dismay. great video.

I know it’s a mess but I did the best I could
When I bought my current van for conversation. A so called professional company had fitted a skylight for the previous owner. Let's just say using standard bath silicon was a disastrous result. It literally lifted of in one piece after unscrewing it. All the ply under the headliner had gone mouldy.

Mine has leaked since day 1 of fitting it..I used sikaflex to seal it and I can’t seem to get it off! Any ideas on how to do it? 😬😬😬😬
Great job Mel. Just re-seated my leaking skylight using the mastic roll as you recommended and it worked a treat, amazing stuff, blue-tac on steroids! Noted the mentioning of cleaning the roof after cutting the hole. Really important to avoid nasty rust spots from the swarf. I go over the area with a strong magnet wrapped in a thin cloth and it’s surprising how much it picks up. Shake off the metal shards from the cloth safety afterwards.

Salt Creek...Great bit of intro music, but I do love my bluegrass music! Not over keen on that static stuff, unless you can screw down from the outside to the inner frame...but everyone to their own! Do you have any further info on your over head locker specs, as starting mine soon and love your design! Cheers Mick

hey buddy you may. as well call it mel and becky`s van life ,,,,,,
Took the foot off mine and lost it. So now i have a jig saw with a piece missing. Kidding Did you know that you can hang your saw up after use with that nifty hole in the blade. Do you have any thoughts on fibre glassing them vents on. I think it's a good idea.
@BigVanSmallWorld
3 жыл бұрын
I really don’t know about fibre glass
@peterhadfield873
3 жыл бұрын
If you use polyester it will crack when the roof flexes. You might get away with epoxy (its tougher and sticks better) but because the roof can flex and the skylight doesn't you really need a tough flexible joint like you get with polyurethane.
People should make a flat square metal sheet welded in on top of the ribs and give you somethin flat to attach sky light to after🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

There are products on the market for that but they are expensive

I've had a leaking skylight, it's made the wood moldy. I want to take it out and replace it with a maxxair fan. That means ripping a lot of cupboards and wall panels out to wire it in 🙈 Does anyone know anyone in the UK who could do this job? Great result in the end 👏🏻
