I love that polytunnel, everything is happy in there and it is surprisingly spacious - those doors are a real plus. Is the plastic reinforced - it has a 'Georgian wired' type pattern - is it thicker plastic or an internal wire grid? There are some polytunnels where I live, but whatever we use, we have to expect the inevitable damage from the successions of storms. You have secured your polytunnel well, I bet the grape vine will be gripping it by now as well, helping out with the securing. You can use engineering bricks as an alternative to a damp proof membrane. You often see people use these bricks as a band of blue in walls (such as Staffordshire Blue). 'Busted some good moves' at the end there! Great video, good to see more of the polytunnel.

I used to install fences, I was taught that it's bad practice to cover in things like bitumen which stop the wood from breathing. Damp soaks down the post, but the bitumen stops the wood that's coated from drying out which can make it rot faster. Of course there are people that say the opposite, so each to their own I guess. Personally I put a few inches of small stones at the bottom of the hole and then cement posts leaving the bottom of the post exposed on the pebbles. Supposedly it helps the post dry out. I've heard that farmers say the best thing is to cover the post in old engine oil, but I guess that's not so good for the environment. :) Edited to say the most important thing is to buy wood that's already treated!

It would be an interesting study. Keep all other things equal but paint one and not the other and see how the post turns out! I suppose that's the only way to find out which method is best.

Yes, it is a good idea. No flapping about like a zip door. This tunnel comes with the zip door. If one is building their own tunnel, a wooden frame attached with hinges could do the trick.

Nice dance moves Dan! 😀 I've got a question - how do you manage to be so laid back about your (seemingly) rather loud and thoughtless neighbours? It's great that you seem to let all their annoying noise pollution wash over you. Hope your eye is OK. I know someone who got something in his eye, and even though the medics managed to remove it, he needed surgery to save the sight in that eye. Please get it checked out if it doesn't improve soon.

Being the classy bird that I am on a tight budget, I used strips of cereal box between the frame and plastic top instead of the hot spot tape, gaffer tape 🤣 I’ve had to get so much compost this year, it adds up for starting up the vegetable gardening. In the country so that seems nuts but it’s a very heavy clay area. I’m now not throwing anything away in the garden bin, using a bit of huglekultur too. Like your down to Earth presenting style 😊👍
