did it recently, surprising how warped the boards are, I was grateful I had the aluminium fixings to drive them in and keep everything flat. OH and before doing this I recommend you ‘dot’ little pieces of cement board on the wall get them all level and let them set. That way when youre pushing your boards home youre not guessing how far to push them to keep them level. I used tile cement to set the dots, add a litle cement to it and itll go off quicker or if you have a little lying around use rapid set.

Hi there Stu, what do you use for a platform when you do high straight stairs. like in council houses. For example, in through front door, stairs straight in front, curve at top. High three walls. I hope this makes sense. You have done vid on stairs and landing but not high stairs with platform. In fact no one seems to have done vids on this. Cheers.

Hey stu, you should stick it to the wall before the film is there. Otherwise you won't have optimal bonding to the brick. Wait 5 minutes instead of 10, the foam should become stringy when you touch it and pull away.

Hi there Stu, Another good video, just wondereing if you could help me out here, I am about to take a big project on, I am going to insulate all the external walls of my house from the inside, wondering if you think foam is the way to go, as I intend to stick plasterboard insulation over already dot and dabbed walls, although I have searched youtube and cannot find anyone else that has done this, my reason being I live in a modern house (20 years old) with a cavity, but I think alot of the isulation boards in the cavity were missed out or far to thin leading to cold walls and a cold house but no damp and alot of heat loss, My radiators get bouncing hot but the rooms take a long time to heat up, and then when the rads are turned off the rooms soon lose the heat, my choices are to strip the plasterboards and dabs from the walls and re-dab them the usual way, which is a massive job while living in, or just go over the top with the foam, also while I do each room just wondering if I would benifit from screwing a thin insulated board to the studs and reskim, especially now with the price of energy going up and up any suggestions or advice, cheers.

Hi Green up, There is an adhesive product we use called AC50 (see link below) it is a general purpose plasterboard adhesive specifically intended for bonding plasterboard. Given that your walls are already lined with plasterboard (dabbed) you can use this adhesive & bond insulated plasterboard directly over the walls. Foam would also be fine to use however you will only require a small bead of adhesive because your walls are already boarded so I would be inclined to use the AC50 as it does not expand & you can apply then stick your boards straight on. Might be worth sealing the walls first with pva just to be safe. ffx.co.uk/product/Get/Everbuild-Hh0119100700-5029347600358-Acoustic-Sealant-And-Adhesive-380Ml-C4-Ac50 Hope this helps

Hi Dana Lak, The problem with bonding the membrane with Foam is it may obstruct/ fill the cavity at the back of the membrane. The system is designed to allow for an air pocket behind the membrane. I would suggest that if you were to do this then small 'dabs spaced out every 8" would be less likely to restrict air movement than applying the foam in a continuous ribbon. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching the channel 👍

It would depend on the dampness of the walls.. it could work providing moisture content is minimal meaning you have no moisture/ damp issues within the walls. Membrane + drainage system is the correct way if the walls are damp otherwise it's just masking the issue. Hope this helps

Used dow insta stik yesterday, applied a 25 mm bead all around the board and waited no more than five min before trying to bond it to the wall . The foam skinned over so quickly it just wouldn't stick at all ! The only way I could get the boards to stick was to press them up against the wall immediately after applying the glue . Is this a common problem with foam adhesives ?

Soudal foams are the same.. you cant spray them on a vertical surface or even near vertical just roll off which is awkward when you dont have anywhere to lay the board flat.
