Thank you for this video it was very clear and easy to follow. I, personally, love the idea of using freezer paper. I don't always know until I start making my project on what I want the stencil to look like. However, if I want a pattern that is already in a premade stencil I will buy it. Girl, this helps me so much! I’ve been using the store-bought stencils and a low tack spray adhesive and having just a dickens of a time, trying to get it to restick to fabric, and also be able to be washable! The idea that I can use my cricket for stencils never occurred to me L O L

Great methods! Stenciling fabric can be so tricky because it’s so flexible. 👍🏼 I also appreciate how you have a machine stencil and a no machine stencil option.

I'm stenciling on silk, so I plan on using an adhesive stencil, using temp fabric pattern spray adhesive on any stencil. Fingers crossed.

I have not tried that, I would recommend using very little paint and pressing your stencil down really well to prevent bleeding. Have fun with your project.

On the silhouette set your blade to a shallow depth, similar to copy paper. For a Cricut, you can select freezer paper as a material when cutting.

This was very helpful! Question: if I have mini rollers, could I use those compared to a brush? If so, do you have a recommendation for a good mini roller? I have a huge robe that I'm stenciling, and a mini roller might save me some hand strength 😂

Yes you can do that. I would opt for a foam roller and just use very little paint so it doesn't bleed. I don't have a brand recommendation but any foam roller you find at the craft store would work. Have fun with your project!

Glad you found this helpful! There are a couple different materials you can purchase that feel like reusable stencils. My favorite is duralar. You can also pick up blank stencil sheets at Joann to cut. I cut them in this video with a Silhouette, Cricut is another brand of machine that can cut all kinds of materials. You could use stencil material or removable vinyl, but it typically doesn['t work as well. Those types of stencils need to be applied with transfer tape and that doesn't work well on fabric.

I would want to use bought stencils. I just can't afford everything that is needed to purchase a cricut machine. I loved the freezer paper method. The Martha Stewart stencils are best for me.

It's used for the same purposes as far as food is concerned, but for crafting it's different. Freezer paper has a shiny side that adheres to fabric with heat, you can find it at the grocery store near the parchment paper.

I opt for cotton fabric or cotton blend. The canvas tote is ideal or any kind of t-shirt. Most cotton fabric are washable as is the paint once it sets.

Freezer paper has a side that reacts with heat, it will temporarily melt and adhere to fabric to create an adhesive stencil. But it pulls off nicely without leaving any residue.

What is the easiest process for stenciling names I purchased the stencil sheet with the letters do I cut the letters separately or leave them attached with all the other letters and can you also use acrylic paint instead of fabric paint I've watched other tutorials and they have used acrylic paint

I like to keep stencils like that all together, they are just easier to store after you use them. Yes you can use acrylic paint, but then the fabric won't be washable.

You should be able to do that. A reusable plastic stencil is nice to have around and when you are done using it on fabric you can use it on something else.

I wouldn't recommend it, permanent vinyl is really hard to remove. Stick with removable vinyl if you want to go that route.

Yes, fabric paint is washable. Just check the instructions on your specific paint for any special considerations, like you may have to wait 24 hours.

It can be tough to find, you can always order it on Amazon.
