Thanks Ma'am. In my 17th lesson. Doing zig zag turns while trotting. But we only use rein aids as of now. Will try this after checking with the coach.Maintaining correct rein length is also bit of a struggle for me. Hope to improve in time.
First online trainer I have found that actually has videos describing what the heck you all mean when you say engage your seat 😅 Never understood why trainers on here seem to want to hold onto this info if they actually want to help people ride well. Many of us are trying to do research before going to a trainer and getting a horse. Thank you
I'd glad I watched this video, I think I'm being taught to open the reins too much when turning the horse.

Yep! That’s why I found this video for my mom.
Just started riding again after 35 years and have had 1 lesson. PHEW! This video has succinctly put everything into perspective. Thank you!!!!!
The video quality is so better than most horse riding lessons on KZread.

Same and it doesn't help that I'm already in my forties and have scoliosis... But with that said, this advice is no less valuable, I just have to adjust my seat a little. At first my teacher didn't realise I had a medical issue that prevented me from sitting perfectly straight but since then we've figured things out.

I'm going to mount a horse for the first time tomorrow and I'm trying to find as many videos as I can, this helped very much, thank you! Also that horse you're riding is gorgeous! Edit: The horse riding went well and I cantered my first time ever riding a horse! The instructor said that I'm a natural and that I'm really good :D

Returning to riding after a couple of decades and have genuinely forgotten the aides! Yours is the first video I've seen that actually goes into the use of the seat and not just a 'kick along' style. Thank you!!!
Very helpful tips I become very interested in horses 49 years old I found that it's very good sport and helps my body to get more flexible but it take me some time to enjoy the ride thanks again

I’ve been riding since I was three but started my serious training about 3 years back and yeah this is helping slot
It is really amazing to see how still and calm the horse is during the whole video. Thank you for those precious lessons 🙏
A few years ago, I fell off of a horse and I was scared to even trot on a horse. This was very helpful to me. I have my first lesson tomorrow
I'm watching not even knowing I will own a horse 😄 I love your horses. So beautiful
The fist tip I ever got for steering is just to "look to where you want to go" and I never understood why but now I do.
Yes, that helped me so much!!! I’m super beginner with horseback riding and I had it all wrong 😩 I thought I engage my right hip/core/leg when I want the horse to turn RIGHT and vice verse. The poor horse lmao 🤦🏻♀️ getting such mixed signals.
I just discovered your channel and I have to say I really like the way you explain things. I like the way you acknowledge the importance of the rider energy in our riding. I have seen lot of video on the subject but you are so far the best at demonstrating what you say in my opinion. I am impressed with your lunging video. The communication between the horse and you is beautiful. I have seen other lunging video that's basically the horse getting scared of the movement and running in a way and then being scared or intimidated in running the other way. Your way is much more aligned with the way I hope to be able to ride. Thank you !
your videos are amazing, i love them. I dont even ride horses and i enjoy your videos so much, the way you talk is very calming :)
I had my fiest lesson 10 hours ago and i see alot of mistakes that i had im glad i found this channel
Made so much sense. Can’t wait to try it out on my next lesson. Thanks for sharing.
Your instructions are clear and precise from a first time rider. Thank😊
Thank you this really helped I’ve been riding for a few weeks now and tomorrow is my first lesson without a leader I’m excited to see how it goes
Thank you. This is great reinforcement. Otherwise I'd forget which leg I'm using!
This is very helpful, I’m doing some of these wrong things and I’ve been riding for about two years now i think watching this will help me, i have a lesson in a couple hours so I’m getting in the equestrian mindset
You are such a special teacher, what a great video.
All of your videos are absolutely amazing and so helpful thank you so much. Also Legend is such a beautiful horse ❤
6:08 - "I am walking him forward". This is mysterious. My horse don't go forward after using my mystical star wars "force" energy. I guess I need a sith loard to teach me that.
Thank you angel.. Of course your presentation is very good. This is a rare treasure for all horse lovers. My heartfelt thanks
I absolutely love your videos, they help me so much!
Thank you lots. I have been doing lessons for a bit and we start at age 2. However you have givin me different ways to explain what I am trying to explain. Thank you lots, God bless and happy riding
Rewatching cos I need the repetition ... cant help but notice that Legend is totally tuned in to your voice ... you can see his ears swivelling to listen to you 😁😂😂😂
thank you so much, ive been riding for 3 months only 1 time a week so I always need this kind of practice while im not on the saddle :)
Wow this is an excellent video for steering. Well done as i still struggle with steering. More diff then i ever imagined.
Fantastic video! Thanks!
I feel like when I started horse riding as a kid I wasnt totally understanding of what I was doing because I had a poor instructor. I havent rode in years my mom couldnt afford it after a summer. I really loved it but it felt awkward you explain everythibg well. Now i feel confident
Thank you! You really helped me understand the seat bones and weight in the saddle. I was having a hard time understanding the “leg” which I was squeezing with my groin muscles and not my lower leg. I need to do a lot more stretching to make sure I get good contact with the horse.

Amazing! Thank you!
Thank you for that as a beginner I am kind of struggling with finding that balance in the saddle that aids in turning. But especially the take on the energy flow that you described i will especially be mindful on my next ride. As well differentiatung between the left core/leg and the right core/ leg. So much to think on. Thank you again
great video! It really helped

Great video! I just completed lesson 11 yesterday which was composed of posting trot, sitting trot, two point riding, not to forget the walk and steering. Still working on the feel, paying more attention now to proper sitting alignment and leg cueing. One thing that my instructor pointed out; when making a sharp turn from a standstill (I like this maneuver), I was leaning into the turn with my body not sitting up straight (I had no idea). Things are slowly coming along. Thanks!
Excellent videos, and you are such a clear and wonderful communicator. I'm a retired teacher, beginning with my 1st lesson tomorrow!! Looking forward to putting your superb advice into play - thank you!

thank you for this video i know it is old but i think it should help me :)
Great video! She explains the concept well. I do see that she’s sitting too far back in her saddle, basically resting on the cantle which has thighs tilted backwards and not resting against the knee block. This is also causing her to hollow her back . This goes to show that all of us can improve our riding. I as a trainer as well… have several things I would like to improve. All in all great video
Thanks.
my horse is really stubborn but this i think will help
5:24 the horse looks like s/he’s having a great time ☺

Thanks for the recommendations😀❤️ In the rising trot you are rising and sitting as your horse trots. In the sitting trot you are remaining seated in the saddle during the trot. I did a couple of videos on the rising trot that may be a help. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dmuB0aanZsnbk6Q.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/aXmLt9Gsec--lco.html
Your mic sounds great. Could you tell me what brand/model it is?
This was such a good video demonstration! Do you have any more like this? I am a pretty early rider and I am looking to grow as much as I possibly can. I would love any pointers you can give me on basic riding tips... how can I stay in my seat better? how can I stay relaxed so I do not tighten my legs and bounce? how can I hold the reins so that they are relaxed... I have short arms and length is most certainly not on my side, I am short with short arms... what tips might you have for me when it comes to rein work? I always feel like I am over extending just so I can keep the reins loose and in front, I never feel like I am quite comfortable in my positioning with them. what can I do to make this better? I love your description in another video you did about closing one door and opening another when we are directing our horse... do you have any other advice like that? what do you do when your horse keeps putting his head down? I feel like I am going to fly right over the horse when that happens? what do you do when the horse starts randomly backing up? how do you get the horse to stop and go forward? how do you get your horse to stand still for you when you are trying to mount or dismount? some horses I have ridden keep moving and it makes it very difficult to mount/dismount. I know I am asking a lot of questions lol... I just have so much I want to learn and understand. Any advice you can share I would be so thankful!! Thank you, I just love your videos!

Hi Jes😊 Thanks for reaching out. You do have a lot of questions.😂 I think it’s wonderful that you are excited about increasing your knowledge in horsemanship🐴 I am doing a video taking about tips when using your reins. It should be out by this coming week.
This video helps me so much. Thank you for doing it. I know I need to strengthen my core, I assume any core and hip flexor exercises will help but are there any specific exercises I should do that you can suggest?
@JSHorsemanship

Hi Debbie! Glad it was helpful 💕Yes core exercises are great 👍 I did a video on some workouts I do. You can check it out here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/rJec16-BaMTShKw.html
Your "Flow of Energy" explanation is absolutely brilliant, thank you! I've just realised how many times I've made the error (through bad instruction) of steering a horse with the reins. Time for that to stop!
I have intermittent lower back pains (once in 3 months) because i have been diagnosed with hernia in back. However, i do everything like badminton, cricket, running etc. I recently discovered this sport and in love with horse. Do you suggest that i should stay away of horses because of my back complaints (because they might exaggerate?) or may be horse riding will help strengthen them. Always Thanks
My first lesson I went for like 2-3 years ago, I kept looking at the horse. I just had a lesson again for the first time since the one from a couple years ago, and I kept my head up the majority of the time.. but I also found myself looking at the dirt.. in front of the horse. Not even the horse lolol
Do you put more weight on you left or right seat bone to turn cause I didn’t quite get it

I usually train on different horses every week. And last week I was training round the pen but at a specific end of the pen the horse would turn around and make it so hard for me to steer her at the right direction. I dont understand what could be distracting her
when ever I am riding (ps: I am a beginner) my trainer tells me to move a bit forth to the saddle to the point I am almost out of it.. honestly whenever he says that makes me go like (how am I supposed to) but I am too shy to ask... help!
Helpful. But how do you use the weight aid while posting? The horse I ride when I ask for a trot will head into the wall and I can't seem to get her off. I'm afraid my leg is going to be hurt and then just slow down/stop. My instructor is working with me on so the horse doesn't think she can just head into the rail to get out of trotting, but I'm concerned I'm doing something to send her into the wall or not doing something to steer her away from it.
Quick question what barn are you at
Do you have a video on cantering and how to ask so they pick up the correct lead?

Legend is gorgeous! What breed is he? A dapple Percheron or Andalusian? :0
what does it mean to open your right hand a little bit? You mention it at the end of the video,
Can we just talk about how luscious Legend's (The horses) Hair is
We have letters in our riding training arena so we know when to switch rein
Great I just learned but still afraid making what the horse dont likes? How to know that the horse wanted to get angry?
I’ve got a question hopefully you have the time to answer it, at the end you did the all together thing but I got abit unsure about the horse starting to move, how did you get him to start walking ?
