I totally agree. When I am too fast, I pull everything to the left. When I have an even tempo my swing is always in sync and I hit a great ball.

The Athletic Motion Golf guys are going to have a conniption fit when they see this🙂. You of course have to complete your backswing, and it helps to have a relaxed rhythm. But to warn against a slight forward weight shift as you're completing your backswing goes against most sensible coaching advice, including Mr Bazalgette's.

Having that pause at the top is a great tip. My problem is coming over the top so I would like to know what movement initiates the downswing. Is it hips, legs or arms because even with a slow backswing, I still pull the ball often

Despite other comments there is some very good advice in here. Everyone swings differently and a lot of us need better rhythm and tempo. Another recent video also mentioned a metronome logic and suggested that a speed of 77 would be a good tempo. Watching your swing looks pretty close to me. Thank you.

Staying connected and sequencing properly in the "downswing" is what has transformed my golf swing in the 10 months since I started out

Excellent job Michael on describing how to start the downswing correctly. I find myself not finishing my backswing which in turn throws me out of rhythm in making my downswing. Maybe your idea of "ice cream" will be a help in helping to get my transition right! We'll give it a try!

I agree with this concept because I have never been able to make the re-centering move advocated by AMG and many others. Just shows you how confusing it is to learn from the conflicting advice you see on KZread.

This is the opposite of what Adam Bazalgette teaches. And when you watch the pros, their hips shift forward before the hands reach the top of the swing.

Tour players start to shift pressure into their lead side before the hands reach the top. The advice in the video is the opposite of what to do.

This is the exact problem that has plagued me for the past 8 years. I am looking forward to trying this out

Ice cream drill might really help some of us. I find hitting the driver to be still awkward after 50 years of trying to hit it. The 7 iron feels fine. Maybe ill finally start finding my swing .... the two words ice and cream ..... on my way ....

I think it can depend on the person. People who naturally do everything fast (in general) may find it more difficult if asked to slow everything down. John Rahm is a perfect example of someone who faster by nature.

Pretty much every successful golfer starts their lower body moving and turning back towards target before the upper body has fished the backswing.

ICE CREAM didn't help. HAWK TUAH did.
