Another Tip: Don't begin with stretch-fabrics until you know the basics with non-stretch fabric. Sewing stretch is a whole different skill. You'll need different needles, different ways of finishing to make it nice looking (with twin-needles, or knitted ribbon), different stitches instead of straight, or using a serger to sew directly etc.
That’s amazing how a little curiosity and determination can turn into a booming career in less than 2 years. 👀 and you’re just getting started. Your content is so inspiring.
You began in 2020 ?? Can't believe it you're so talented !

As a complete beginner (I haven't even started yet, I'm just checking out KZread videos), I think this video is an EXCELLENT tour! You can give yourself more credit about your teaching abilities: your communication is perfectly clear and informative, I have no doubt you can make actual tutorials if you want to. I'd love to watch them too.
The main problem I have is money, otherwise I would make all the giant ballgowns lol. This is very helpful though, I kinda struggle a lot with making things I’m happy with and it’s always nice to have someone to help out so thank you!🙃

Fabric can be expensive yes! But (dependant on country) there are thrift/charity shops that sell low price old fabric. Old curtains can be really good for fabric and bed sheets/duvet covers. As for sewing machines you don’t need the most new sewing machine when your getting started( I started with a 30 year old machine of my mothers) You don’t need a serger/over locker to begin as stated in the video. I recommend starting in easy things like simple skirts, shorts, etc Also you can find classes to begin sewing and usually you don’t need your own machine for this and fabric for these courses are in the price. Lastly it’s all about the fun! You can use old clothes for small projects and make do with what you have (sometimes family members/friends have sewing things you can use) Hope this helped!!

You can save on money and do only one gown first that you like the most. You'll enjoy it. I hope you get the opportunity soon. Best wishes.

Thrift stores are a great resource for inexpensive fabric & notions. Just last week I paid $1 for a sweater, I bought it for the 16 beautiful buttons on it. Great deal

I learned how to sew when I was 8 years old. Well, Handsewing to be exact for years I sewed by hand and as a cosplayer, it took me a full year to make my cosplays ( ages 15 to 18 ). Finally when I graduated high school one of my Graduation party guests ( my family friend ) bought me my first sewing machine for my graduation. So I have been sewing for about 12 to 13 years. So most of my life I've been sewing.

I come from a long line of seamstresses. Mennonites actually. My grandma was the 1st to do it professionally and use an electric swing machine. My mom can sew, but doesn't. I got frustrated with it as a child. But, three days ago, I had the urge to make my daughter a high waisted circle skirt. I took her to pick fabric.... then came home and at 47 years old learned I can design a little, and I can sew. Who knew.

It’s amazing that artistic people seem to excel at anything they do! Anytime I try something creative, I find it effortless to learn! Good job! I started knitting last year, a few months in, I started crocheting, and now I’m ready to start sewing this year!
2 things: 1.) Shein is your best friend for supplies, i bought a pair of bomb sheers for $5-$6 and so much more for dirt cheap 2.) Zig-zag stitch is generally used to seal frayed ends, if your sewing machine is anything like hers or mine you might want to try 16
Keep in mind that circle skirts are usually cut on the bias of the fabric (diagonal), which means that over time, the hem of the skirt will stretch and droop. Just something to think of-paneled/gored skirts can take more time and fabric, but the value of being cut on the proper grain is helpful!
I am following you since beginning I was always very interested in sewing but never tried. And I saw what you can do I saw that you made better everyday and I thought maybe I can do it. My family surprised me by buying me a sewing machine last Christmas and since that day I am sewing everyday !
Thank you so much for sharing this. It's very inspiring. I myself have just started sewing this year in 2022 back in February. My inspiration for starting to sew was my granddaughter starting to do pageants and I wanted to help out with dresses and costumes and also just sewing outfits that she can wear everyday. She loves to wear dresses and I have made her so many cute outfits teaching myself to sew using KZread videos just like you did
This video is the most clear and beginner friendly one I've found so far. I'm so glad you demonstrated how to thread the machine because it looked so tricky but your explanation was spot on
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SOOOOOOO LOOOOONG TY GIRL 💜
I've been watching and searching a lot to know where to start and didn't know all I needed was in one video! Thank you ❤
60 years ago I learned to sew on my mother’s sewing machine. You name it, I’ve sewn it and I do a pretty good job. YOU however are unbelievably talented! Keep up the great work, more young (& not so young) people need to learn to sew 😄
I love how this is such a honest, simple, humor video and that She’s SO prettyyyy 🫶🥰
ive been hand sewing for most of my life. my grandma gave me an old brother sewing machine and I love it
I loved and enjoyed every bit of this video 📸. Now I know that my thought process of getting a sewing machine and starting sewing is not out of place. With love from Nigeria 🇳🇬🇳🇬
I'm so impressed you've been sewing for only 2 years! I really want to learn too.
You are so sweet and soooo helpful!!!! Great tutorial, and I completely disagree with you… you are an EXCELLENT teacher. Very talented, all your stuff is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing with the world! People like me really appreciate it.
I can’t wait until you make a full tutorial on ballgowns. I’m so grateful for this video Thankyou Soo much
Thank you, I think this really helps. I hope I can continue. I want to do this to work through my depression and find peace
For the first time I watch video tutorial till the end! Love your explaination
I found you just recently.. I’m addicted lol I stayed up till 3 in the morning watching all your videos!! 😂❤😂 it would be a dream to sew a princess dress!
Miss, miss you are the reason why I want to sew. I love you and you're dresses
This is so encouraging to me! I'm just getting into sewing and it's intimidating.
Omg!! So that is why you are so good at making clothes!😯😯😯 I'm a new subscriber and I saw your Genevive's ballet dress video and I was so surprised! I saw that you never get lazy and you always try to make the best clothes for your subscribers and viewers to see! I love your vids!😍😍

Literally EXACTLY what I’ve been needing to start.
I think it's so cool that you are self taught 👏! I've been wanting to learn how to sew but not for myself, I actually want to sew Barbie clothes 😆 So I bought a used old Barbie sewing machine and even a book with patterns for Barbies but I've yet to start but hopefully I will soon since your videos have inspired me to get started 👍
OMG you made the dress from the selection book cover!! LOVE❤️ This is also such a great video, thanks for sharing your knowledge 💞
I am about to start learning how to sew and I can't wait to make my own dresses! I'll never struggle to find the dress I want again!
SOOO THANKFUL FOR THIS LOVE HOW YOU EDIT AS WELL AS SEW 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
This girl is my inspiration…..and I’m in my 30s, like so much skill. If I ever get married I’d totally commission her to make a wedding dress.
to be honest even through I have been sewing for a bit I'm still pretty much a beginner. I'm more of a visual/hands on learner so it would be cool to see what more barbie dresses you can do. I've personally tried to do Erika from the princess and the pauper (the skirt I was fine with but the bodice was horrific). But yeah can't wait to see more!
This video gave me so so much inspiration! I really want to start now thank you!
For people on a low budget i really recommend getting your sewing machine on marketplace , etc. I paid mine 110cad and it's a Singer. For the fabrics , thrift store are fuulll of gems!
I just bought my first sewing machine this month and I ended up getting the Brother XR 9550....largely because Amazon allowed me to pay it off in monthly payments which is super convenient. I'm not sure ill ever get to the point where I'm sewing cloths but I do think this sewing machine is something i can grow into as i learn to sew. I'm in my late 50s but it's never too late to learn new things and develop a new skill.
She is sooooo amazing!! Love the creations
Yesss!!! The selection series!!
My friend's been needing this forever!
I loved this video! It helped so much. You explain things better than most people on this platform lol :)
Girl you are amazing!!! It’s my dream to be as good as you at sewing!
This was such an informative video! Thank you!!
I'm obsessed! Thank you! Best of luck in your career, tho you're already winning!
Amazing work so Wonderful 👏

AHHH birthday twins!! It’s a sign for me to really buckle down & learn to sew with my fellow libra 🙄
I love that video and it´s very helpful :) I would love to see some tutorials like you said in the video 💗
Please make this a series!
As a theater kid i immediately recognized the character shoes in the closet! Also awesome vid!! Love your work :)
OMG!!!😱 You gone make Harper' pencil dress😁😁 I cant wait! When I was growing up with disney channel I was upsesed with Harper's outfits, they are amazing!!!
So then, let's start! 🥰Can you make a video of how you sew your graduation dress?

“I keep my sewing machine in this corner because there is nowhere else to keep it” 😆 That’s a very valid reason. Relatable as someone who lives in a NYC apartment 😅

That was so useful and needed thank you fora basic totourial

We have the same birthday!! Thanks for some good info ❤
thanks for this video now I'll be able to make my own dresses

Omg i allso love the selection
Omgggg I love you I’ve seen u all over TikTok
I loved you. I am 17 years old and I love old Barbie movies and you resemble my facial features. I wanted to learn how to sew because I love fashion models and my mother has a machine and she used to sew beautiful dresses and I enjoy watching you very much❤.

I am thinking of making a Princess Merda🏹❤ dress for my little sister, who has red and curly hair, because its quality on Amazon and other sites is poor.
You should realize a sewing book with patterns. I would buy it! 😆👀🤗
You seem so cool thanks for this video!
I have been sewing for 40 years plus I do have a KZread channel and I love to teach the same thing goes for knitting and crocheting
Hey, what brand of grommets/eyelets do you recommend? I bought some from Birch but they became rusty once I wash the garments. The rust also transferred onto the fabric.😢
unrelated but you have such a tidy home. I can rest my eyes on the background
best tutorial ever
Loved the video
Would you possibly be able to make a video on how to properly measure yourself and make your own patterns?
I love everything you make! You are so talented. Also...can you please share the link for your grommet setter?
You're very good ..thanks
Can you tell me what fabric you used for Bella's dress, especially those light fabrics? Thank you so much for your answer. :*
Sometimes if i want cheap fabric i just buy a really big skirt that has a cute pattern second hand. And then make something cute from that.
You had me at life size Barbie dresses❤😂😂😂
What brand of thread you use I noticed some threads like to jam the machines I'm currently having this issue with my singer planning on buying the products you have since it would cost me the same amount of price to fix it as to buy it I'm so over singer and would like to try a new machine
Are there any other sewing machines that you recommend? I'm looking for sewing machines on FB marketplace and although there are brother sewing machines it's not the exact one, would any brother sewing machine work? And what's the difference between an embroidery sewing machine and a regular one?
So I have some questions, can you link the gromets you buy here? And do you have tutorials for any of your dresses? Also that costuming book, can you link it too??? Thanks!!!
I’ve been waiting for this one for so long 😩 but my main problem is that I live in Germany and there are no Joann’s stores and hobby lobby’s
How did the carpet beneath the circle skirt fabric not cut along with the cutter?
how do i measure the waist tho, is it my waist lenght divided by 12? cuz i watched 1 vid and it said that but then i watched another and it said something else and im confused
Are there any specific sites or channels you'd recommend? I feel like I have a lot of ideas for pretty dresses etc but at the same time I wouldn't really know where to begin because I don't have any skills yet
Do you have a link to where you bought your sowing machine please?
Hi, would you mind tell me what youtube references for you to learn the pattern etc? Thank youuu. Love your work so much ❤️❤️
How do you sew the bodice to the skirt
Hii, I got a couple of questions, how did you do your patterns before you had the mannequin? And what channels do you recommend that teaches how to sew? Thanks!!
Not gonna lie the massive closet calmed me, I was panicking when I saw your three little shelves in the corner and was wondering what was wrong with me...
do you have any recommendations of stores that ship things abroad. I don't live in the USA so we don't have any of the shops you do. I love the dresses you make and this video has been a great help for teaching me how to sew
I suggest you make a cosplay from ryu to sobakasu no hime(maybe white dress🤔) because you might like this one if you watch it. It has a Disney style, good music, and beautiful outfits but I don't force you.😅 will continue to follow 🤗
