I bought my son a pack and now im back in the game after 20 years learning how to battle lol Thanks for the helpful video. Ill likely be going for a booster pack sometime soon at my local card shop haha

You can find them for as low as 10$ (and if you like older sets, I know there are still some Sun & Moon ones out there) and it's a great way for kids to get started. This is such a great video! I am just starting to collect for the first time and of course I feel a little overwhelmed. Most of the other “beginner videos” I’ve watched immediately start throwing out all kinds of terms and info that a true beginner like me would never know. Very nice video coming back into the hobby after baseset days . Came back officially in 2022 but now have a formidable sealed going . 24 ES etbs among much more things . I really enjoyed the video .

That's a good and healthy way of collecting! 😊 Buy what you enjoy and then you'll find a lot of joy in your collection. Also, Japanese singles have great quyality!

vielen Dank für das Video! want to start a collection and videos likes this help me. does it make sense to start a set with buying bulk cards? want to get into pokemon tcg and want to collect the 151 series but i'm not sure if bulk is the right way to finish all commons and then go onto the rare hunt

Gerne and good question! 😊 First, check out my "how to save money on Pokemon cards" video for suggestions on collecting on a budget. It should give you even more tips on which products I recommend to buy. Buying bulk can be a good idea but it depends on the price/card and whether you want to open packs at all or not. If the lot is cheap enough and you're okay with lots of duplicates + varying card quality, it can be fun. My suggestion: If you want to open packs at all, I suggest getting an Elite Trainer Box (ETB) and a couple collection boxes or booster bundles first - whichever has the cheaper €/pack ratio. Then fill up the rest with buying singles from cheap and reputable vendors. If you want to buy singles only, calculate how much you would spend by buying the singles directly (including shipping). If you buy all of them from the same vendor, you can get all the commons & uncommons super cheap. Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, let me know!

@@JuliusCollects thanks for the reply! watched all of your starter videos. very helpful :) For the 151 Set i just want to buy the cards one by one. starting with a bulk, check out which cards are missing and then going on the haunt by trading or buying them directly. maybe one elite trainerbox will be opened :D for another series i would like to go the route you suggest. opening some stuff and see, whats happening. but i really really want the 151 series. are there any numbers for a good price/card ratio? and how safe is ebay and kleinanzeigen here in germany? i'm very scared to buy fake cards - are there any other options to buy bulk?

First off: Stay tuned for the upcoming "How to find the best prices for cards" video! 😎 I also answered a similar question under my "How to save money video", but here is the gist of it: For price/card, I recommend checking the resources mentioned in the video like Cardmarket & TCGPlayer to find prices. Most commons/uncommons are only a few cents at most. Illustrator rares and alt arts can even go in the hundreds, so please research prices first! As to ripping packs, anything under 2.75$ (USD) is generally a steal today. 3$ - 4$ is pretty standard. 151 is a "special" set with no booster boxes, making it a bit more costly than others. 4.5-6.5$ at least. How safe are eBay & Kleinanzeigen / Craigslist / FB Marketplace? --> If a deal is too good to be true...it probably isn't true. I would always go on eBay over other general marketplaces for the buyer protection. But I'd also go for card marketplaces over eBay if you are just starting out. Bulk buying...ehh...I'd go on Cardmarket and check out how much it costs to buy the cards you enjoy. 😉

I use $ because I use it more often than € and other currencies, but it's always important to make the conversion before buying. Also with Pokemon, prices are often the same in each currency...so a 100$ booster box is usually a 100€ booster box in Germany.

I have a charizard that looks just like the one you had in the protector but it has an XY evolutions logo at the bottom. Is it still worth anything?

The one in the video is my original Base Set Charizard that goes for around 350-400$ in this condition (near mint). It sounds like yours could be the XY Evolutions Charizard with the Prerelease "Evolutions" stamp on it. Depending on the condition that one is offered on TCGPlayer for around 300$, so yes, it is worth quite a bit! 😊 Check out TCGPlayer or Cardmarket to compare and you will find current market prices quickly.
