    No problem, you are a life saver. Im headed out today to cut my over grown lawn, lol. People must think my property is abandoned. I’m ashamed of the way it looks. We’ve had massive rain, and the grass grows like a weed. My next move if I failed was to have Home Depot come out and show me how dumb I am. You saved me!!

    My son and I JUST finished setting up our new Cub Cadet (had a heck of a time getting it off of the pallet😩) and then I found your video. I’ve never driven a riding mower before, which is crazy, because I’ve actually driven tracks while in the military, but didn’t know how to operate a riding mower. 😂 I’ve literally been riding around with your video on my phone in the space above the stirring wheel, stopping to play each new “lesson”, and then try it out. This video has been *EXTREMELY* helpful, and I truly appreciate it! I think I know what I’m doing now. 👍🏽😊

    @@JohnsonsSmallEngines yes, believe it or not, the first one I received was fully assembled when delivered, but I actually sent it BACK to request one that was crated, because the one that showed up had a very dingy seat. and a lot of scrapes and scuffs all over after being on display outside the store. It may seem silly, but since this was my first time buying a riding mower (I usually have someone do my yard every other week), I really wanted it to be brand-spanking new, with no dingy butt marks. 😂 So I had to arrange for HD to pick it up, and then I had to coordinate to ensure that I received a crated mower as opposed to another one from the store, especially since the manager of my local store doesn’t allow them to sell crated items. It took an extra 3 weeks between them refunding the purchase (the only way they would do it), and then sending one in a crate, but it arrived, and even now, my garage still smells like new leather! 😁 Thanks again!

    Thank you this was very helpful and informative. This Video is very useful and even i have this mower for years, i finally learned how to use the reverse button lol. I love about this video that it is straight forward and not all this boring talking around like most other videos do. I watched this video because my mower was not starting and in all those years i never ever used the choke funktion. I did not even know about it. I was wondering about the sign (didn't knew what it ment) but since the shift thingy has a stop before it i never thought of pushing it with a little force. It always started to now. This Spring was the first time it didn't wanted to come on. Hitting the choke funktion it came right on. Thank you again

    Thank you for this encouraging description; concise and very useful. I am new to the world of rider mowers but now we have 4x to 5x there lawn that we had in SoCal (here in Knoxville). I hadn't started it for about 3 months and my 77 year old brain was struggling to remember, oh yeah, the clutch and the brake. Thank you, thank you! The battery was low so I had to put it on our charger/engine start to give it enough juice but even with that there is one thing you left out of your presentation... I started yelling, "come on, come on, come on". That yelling along with your pointers makes me look like I know what I am doing because she started right up but only after I yelled at her. For what it is worth I am now subscribed and grateful. Push the brake pedal all the way down then push the black E-brake down and hold it there, then let up on the brake pedal while still holding down the E-brake, then let go of E-brake handle. Now your E-brake should be on.

    What about the click switch under the seat (it's green and you can see it for a sec just as you start to talk about adjusting the seat). Does that have to be engaged by sitting or pressure to start? Excellent video.

  • @JohnsonsSmallEngines

    @JohnsonsSmallEngines

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, there is a seat switch but you must have have the emergency brake in the engaged position to start the tractor. You would normally be sitting on the seat to start the tractor. The seats which is there when you’re running the mower deck if you get up the engine will shut off.

    Thanks so much for the video! Awesome job! I just have one question. You said that you put the choke in high or in the middle depending on the temperature. In what position do I put it if it’s hot outside? Thanks!! ☺️

  • @JohnsonsSmallEngines

    @JohnsonsSmallEngines

    2 жыл бұрын

    The hotter the temperature, normally you would use less choke so do not put it all the way up on the throttle in hot conditions unless it’s needed.

    Quick question, the first start up ever and I engaged to cut a little grass to test it out and I smelled burning rubber after shutting down. Is that normal coming straight from the factory?

  • @JohnsonsSmallEngines

    @JohnsonsSmallEngines

    Жыл бұрын

    That’s not good but I do not know the conditions you are cutting? Was the throttle at full speed?(it should be when cutting grass). How high was the grass? How low is the mower deck height set? I would definitely look to see if your mower deck belt is running correctly and there is nothing caught under the deck. If you smell rubber and see white smoke, there is a issue. I cannot confirm any of this without seeing the machine. I’m just telling you my opinion on your comment.

    Good stuff Brad. My LT46 with the Kohler K730 7000 series 23 HP engine will be delivered next week. Question please.... From the very first starting/operating of a NEW engine, what is your recommendation on what engine speeds and running time would you give this new engine for the best "break in"?? The information I've read is that OHV engines like/need to be run wide open for proper cooling and oil flow but for a new engine, is there any recommendation you may share on the first running time? Maybe one-two minutes of warm up at idle then wide open to mow? I'm trying to understand that full throttle is recommended-even when just driving to transport, or pulling a lawn spreader. Any information and operating tips you may share will be appreciated.... Thanks

  • @JohnsonsSmallEngines

    @JohnsonsSmallEngines

    10 ай бұрын

    My opinion, I would suggest at least a minute warm up maybe two in the colder months. Full engine speed when cutting grass is definitely true about the cooling plus the hydro transmission will also work the best at full speed. I do believe if you keep up on the preventative maintenance the machine will last a long time. Change the engine oil and oil filter on a regular basis to keep the engine internals from wearing out before it’s time. Keep the mower deck blades sharp and do not wash your machine. The machine will treat you the way you treat it! Thank you for watching my video. Please give it a like, subscribe if you haven’t yet and share my channel with your friends to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated.
