    Thank you guys so much!!! I watched this video a few months ago as an amateur. One design award, 2 judges awards, and 250 pages later, I can’t thank the people that helped me enough!

    Just wanted to let you know this is an amazing representation of an engineering notebook. So great that my college professor used your video as reference material in my engineering design class. I came from an FRC team and our notebook was never as organized or as detailed as yours is!

    Thank you so much for this video! First year of robotics, got design, innovate, create, etc. at regional level comps and innovate at provincials! The only awards I got was engineering notebook ones and it's al thanks to this video.

    Thank you so much for this excellent resource! This just became a standard part of my team's start-of-year training. I especially like how clearly you communicate not just what you did for each part, but why you did it the way you did.

    I've gone to nationals so many times and always won best engineering note book because I implemented color in my notebook designs with a color key and of course the designs were drawn really well with 3D aspects and dimensions. My first ever notebook is still used in my high school to teach current students in VEX.

    Would you say that judges don’t really care about the proportions of who writes in the notebook for Vex? Is Vex IQ any different?

  • @nathannolte4333

    @nathannolte4333

    Quinn McGinley I would say the overall quality of a notebook (in both VRC and IQ) is more important than the variety of team members who work on it.

    Handwriting would probably be better. It just depends on the state you’re in and how your judges feel about it.

    I might cry. I have already started my team's notebook and it's literal trash compared to this. It's to the point where I would be more comfortable buying another notebook and starting over because I've screwed up so much. I'm going to cry. Someone help me on what to do because this isn't ok. I'm too far in to start over but what we have is trash. Competition is in less than 10 days and I only have 7 pages done in this trash notebook. Help. Me. Edit: i'm vvv sorry i wrote this late at night whilst having a mental breakdown everything is good

    So guys I did cry several times but I started the notebook over. I made it to a little over 50 pages before yk comps got cancelled bc of covid. But, every comp we went to my notebook won us the excellence award except for one where we didnt get the excellence but we got the design. I put alot of hours into it and it paid off

    I know this is late but I don’t think 7 pages is too far in but I get the stress. Try to make sure to do pages over time because judges can tell when notebooks are rushed or done last minute. When a judge reads the notebook, they maintain the theme of quality over quantity in their judgment. Biggest thing is to follow rubric because getting a perfect score on the rubric is not as hard as it sounds yet it can boost you above other major teams in a competition (even if their notebook looks high quality, if they don’t have a perfect score then it’s beatable).
