    Thank you for this. I just bought a fire pit and have been trying to start a fire for the past 30 minutes. Even used lighter fluid. Eventually I gave up, went to youtube and stumbled on this video. Followed the directions perfectly and the fire started almost instantly! Didnt even have to use lighter fluid 😂😂. Thank you so much! Added this to my favorite and subbed to your channel! Thanks again! ❤😊

    This is how i just fired up my woodburner. It is an Eder 19kW. First two loafs the how you stack it with smaller pieces with paper inside it. Some small pieces on top and the some bigger ones. I lite it with one match. In the evening i put brikettes (big blocks) with it. It heats my house and thus water for the cv and warm water. Regards from the Belgium Ardennes

    The top down method is basically adding a full floor of big logs at the bottom and crossing another section on top and then build it smaller the higher you go then start your fire at the top of the structure . Then you’ll have a small fire at the very top to begin with and slowly the coals and burned wood will fall and light the section underneath and so on. Making it an hour long fire with literally zero maintenance until it’s all burnt through in which case you can literally do it all over again if need be, just this time it’ll also light the bottom a lot quicker because of the hot coals

    I always use a grid method for the logs. Tee-pee tends to starve the fire. Essentially start small and get your fire really hot, then you can throw anything you want on it.

    At what point do you add more logs as I either do it too early creating too big of a fire or too late and they don’t catch quick enough. Also I get these are laid to allow airflow but when new logs go on how do we position them it keep airflow as the logs below gradually break down

  • @DIYwithCam

    @DIYwithCam

    11 ай бұрын

    I lay the next logs at 90 degrees to the ones below. I typically start to add more when the bottom logs have caught fire and are starting to put off some good heat. It's a balance, so try it out. What worked out the last fire might kot work as well on the next one, depending on firewood species and water content.

    @@DIYwithCam cheers for the reply! Think thats my issue as I try to do it like a set order when as you say.. it doesn’t work the same each time as different factors. One other thing.. if you accidently put fire out by suffocating it with the new log or let it die down too much before adding next log. Whats the easiers way to get it back going. I usually stick a firelighter back in and stick some kindling to get it going again but not sure if thats right.
