I really don't quite understand that too. Like being a QA tester, you need to have 2 years in experience first. Like how? That's like the most basic job ever.

And this is so true... They don't give a chance to junior profiles. Even when they ask for a junior profile, it has to be 2 to 3 years of experience. This is not a junior profile!
@tiredguy2753

Yup you see it everywhere, ubisoft, blizzard, Hi-Rez etc... In fact we are at the point where even some of the QA stuff now want experience. It is always kind of funny watching these types of videos, its like "where, where are these entry level roles unless you are talking about those 8 internship roles that I am sure 100+ people applied for". For anyone reading this comment and you are trying to break in on the art side of things, from what I have observed on LinkedIn the people getting hired to entry level art roles have a great portfolio and some type of game art degree-those 2 are inseparable and are indistinct. So the old advice of "you don't need a degree you only need a portfolio"- yeah... that is about as relevant as "just put on a suit and walk into the company and demand to speak to the boss" . Maybe at one time a portfolio would be enough but with all the schools offering game art degrees I don't think you are getting past HR with just a portfolio and no degree or an unrelated degree.

I've heard many stories of people starting their career in games by just being a part of the community, especially that of their preferred practice (3d modeling, programmer, publication, writing) and producing work and showing people their work. Helping people finish their projects is the great way to get your name out there and get experience working in teams. With years of that under your belt it's hard for companies looking for reliable workers to look away.

Do it like me ^^ Start a career in retail, visit trade school, study economics, finish with Master, meanwhile you start applying for jobs in marketing and sales department at smaller publishers. Then you need to learn game design on the sideline, express to your superior interest in helping creating a game and now you're lead creative director without any idea how to code. Approximate time necessary ~7 years. Hope I can fulfill my plan. ^^

I like creating characters/abilities/classes. I’ve also thought about things like keybinds and how I’d like certain things to be like gunplay. A lot of things I’ve thought about usually just relate to things I’ve played though. Like I like the gunplay, gameplay, and ui in apex legends and I like the characters of paladins and the story/missons and ui of borderlands, also the builds. I’ve thought about certain things like if I wanted a game with characters like paladins I wouldn’t want a loot system like in borderlands but instead maybe just weapon upgrades like weapons rolls on destiny. Just random things like that. I’ve also thought about a world, I know there would probably be better suited people like environmental artist or something but I’ve enjoyed the idea of a game set in a hollow planet with a giant megastructure cyber tower/dungeon. Why a hollow planet? Idk cuz I’d be cool. Of course since the settings is so massive in scale you’d only be able to explore important parts like how borderlands levels are. I got a lot of inspiration from the manga blame! Due to its interesting way of telling the story through its world instead of actually having a good plot and from the anime lain since it pokes fun at conspiracy theories. But I’ve always been lacking academically, especially with things like math. So idk if I would be able to code, I also suck at art and I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed actually doing it.
lol I applied for ubisoft belgium many times, they never answered me. Surely they played basketball with my cv.

@@CaterpillarZoo Aye the thing is videos like this only show the success stories, the stories of those who started out working as some temp QA tester (through a temp agency like Roberthalf) who eventually got brought onto the actual company and where able to work their way up. What this video does not show is the many QA testers who never got past the temp agency to work for the studio itself, the QA testers who where dumped after the testing period was over, the QA testers who in spite of QA for years upon years are still temps etc... It is a nice and entertaining video, I am not taking away from that but it shows a very thin slice of reality an almost "All you need to do is QA and boom you now work for Ubisoft/X studio".

Hello Ubisoft, please delete or rename status "GODLIKE" in For Honor game. Relegion reason, that why i cant play this Great Game. In Islam, "Shirk" (Arabic: شرك širk) is the sin of idolatry or polytheism It means ascribing to, or the establishment of, partners placed beside Allah. It is termed Tawhid (monotheism). Mušrikūn مشركون (pl. of mušrik مشرك) are those who practice shirk, which literally means "association" and refers to accepting other gods and divinities alongside God (as God's "associates").

I know a freshly graduate that doesn't find a job because of no XP. Even when asking for a junior dev they ask for XP. But this is just impossible. This means that you have to start as a dev in any other industry, and then try to come back to video game industry. But this is non sense. Motivation is far so important to me.
@absence9443

@@CaterpillarZooI referred to the main message of the video, starting ones career as a developer which I highly support due to its long term resilience and general quality, yet Ubisoft doesn't put lots of if any at all value at its employees beyond perceiving them as financial objects. Motivation isn't just key, self-motivation and engagement are crucial for a suitable learning curve, but sadly employers don't recognize it quickly. That's why the focus on experience as well as the presentation of hard skills (& soft skills) is more reliable in that case. Usually experience isn't an absolute necessity even if explicitly mentioned in the job details, if you have the capabilities and potentially a few projects to show, then they're likely to consider you as valuable regardless of missing experience in this exact field. (as long as it's not some generic hierarchy based company dominated by bureaucracy)
