My 20 man primaris crusader squad led by Grimaldus just marched around the board tonight and killed anything they encountered. It was glorious!

How did you build that squad? Just curious. I've heard people say an "Oops! All melee!" squad kicks ass with Grimaldus, but others say you should put a mixed build with flamers.

I just finished painting the one I got a few weeks ago

Back in October I sold everything 40k I owned from over 10 years being in the hobby except for my built & painted terrain! ... over 22k of space marines (Dark Angels and Blood Angels) and tons of other crap. Took the money and started a brand new Black Templar collection (and banked the rest!). Absolutely love the new sculpts! Always been one of my favorite marine chapters since after getting into the hobby back in 2012. Once had 1200 points of them around 2014 but never did anything with them and eventually sold them off. So after deciding to do a very hard 40k hobby reset I decided on these guys, there really was no one else I was considering. At 6k built, based, and primed ... they're done unless something new and cool comes out in the future? I've been painting the characters and I absolutely love them and the contrasts in their paint scheme (but I still paint Blood Angels the best, lol working on that with my BT). Their model sculpts are superb! Their upgrade kit is far superior to any other upgrade kit or sprue for space marines! Their lore is right up there as one of the best, and they are a well-covered chapter from Black Library! Their primarch is Dorn, and their founding heir is Sigismund! ❤🏆 .... It's only win-win when it comes to deciding to collect and play Black Templars! Right now their rules are good but we all know that can come and go over the years lol and editions. But you cannot go wrong with going with Black Templars. Great video!

Step 1. Buy a bunch of storrmcast that nobody wants. Step2. Hand swaps and add backpacks Step 3. Paint them black and red and white. Also works for custodes and you can skip the backpacks.

Only been collecting black templar for a year now, but love those bits, got the dreadnought ones and love how they turned out after painting

Picked up the Combat Patrol and Black Templars Army Set (still easily purchased in the USA for around $170) a few weeks ago from my FLGS. I appreciate the final tips for filling out a 2000 point army. Once I get all of this table ready I'll have to look into the options you suggested.

Ah, Templars. My first army I created when Indomitus came out and I started my hobby adventure. I loved them for lore reasons even before they were cool, and all we got was reroll advance + charge and a mortal FNP. How times have changed

Watching this while I paint my primaris Black Templar i started collected in ninth edition and need to get tabletop ready for adepticon.

I got those bits from greytide studios a while back. Absolutely awesome

@@Spongemonkey26they have more uniqueness to them, makes sense. We dont need all space marine chapters with unique units and that much attention WHEN other main factions are bleeding out. Emperor Children, Aeldari, Dark Eldar, Votann… arguably even Nids (they left two key units with old sprues, ravagers and nid warriors).

I’ve been in this hobby since 2012, not going to happen. The divergent chapters get more attention, the Ultramarines get a decent amount for the codex compliant chapters, and the rest get crumbs.

My redemptor has that armor upgrade sprue. It looks amazing in person.

What’s the best way to get multi meltas for vehicles? $35 per melta is pretty steep. Only redeemers or the BT combat patrols get them by default.

I'd guess either Horus Heresy vehicle kits or pick up a squad of Devastators and equip the actual marines in there with anything but multi meltas - you get a squad you can use and two multi meltas for your vehicles. The devastator method will probably require a bit of cutting and finesse to make the normally handheld MMs look good as a pintle mount though

Ik in a previous video you talked about the leviathan box set actually kinda fitting the black Templars and wanted to ask what other units should I include to make the army more complete?

The greytide Eternal Crusaders set is clutch. Im fairly certain that every one of my Sword Bretheren/Squad leaders has at least one bit. 10/10 best investment if you want your templars to really stand out

Just wanted to add as a BT player, the Greytide Studio stuff is SO choice. I don't regret picking the Eternal Pilgrims pack for a second. My BT are sexy as hell. Also, my bud has their Space Wolves pack. I can't comment on it directly as I don't play them and my bud hasn't finished putting everything together, but it looks pretty slick too!

I am brand new to this hobby, and I am putting together a black templar army. But I am having a hard time finding just a crusader set, all I find is a primaris crusader sets. Is the crusaders just that set without the neophytes or where could someone track down a (non primaris) crusader set?

With the knowledge that I can soon bring Deathwatch kill teams with my templars I have some cool ideas for sure to diversify while meeting my head canon standards

Just got the Introductory Set and the Getting Started with WH40K magazine (with the marine and Nid). Would you recommend getting a Black Templars or Dark Angels (with the Dreadnought) Combat Patrol for me to get next? And which "hero" figure would be best for either ? Thanks.

The army you play is up to you, the best hero to get would be high marshall or the emoorers champion

I wonder if Black Templar's exclusive miniature only list is competitive? Or it should be mixed with standard space marines?

From what I’ve heard a straight up crusader squad swarm supported by Grimaldus and Helbrecht with Sword Brothers is a very solid option. You’d really want to get some transports with that though.

Impulsor with PSB and character is insanely strong and PSB with helbrecht and lieutenant is instant kill everything

@@serikgauthier9469I still like the land raider to deliver the sword brethren with character support because of the charge after moving. Impulsor rig is a lot harder to pull off since you have to set up the threat range (can’t charge if they hop out after it moves)

The bits are excellently designed, but I would recommend against buying though only-games, their consumer service is abysmal and some of their practices are shady at best. I suggest looking at reviews before making any order there.

I absolutely love the GTS stuff, I have a lot for my DA’s and they look amazing. The only issue I have with any commercially available bit kits from manufactures other than GWS/Forge World is that they are not offically legal for official GWS tournaments. Which is a shame, wish they were. I think it has to do with picture rights as GWS reserves the right to publish any pictures from their tournaments.

Complete noob question from someone just starting out: The bits and pieces you can buy for the models, especially weapons and armor, do they change the units abilitys? For example sword vs hammer/fist, or a shield in the offhand meaning more hitpoints? And are they rule compliant even tho its not official?

Black Templars in Firestorm Assault is no slouch either. The problem I’m having is deciding on what characters to put in it. With the points changes for Helbrecht, Grimaldus, Inceptors, Aggressors and Scouts it’s been a chore.

Grimaldus might be the “best” pick considering he does well with crusader squads and you can get flamers in that unit for some dev wounds and all the guns will get a strength up. Not to mention Helbrect abilities are a bit wasted in a detachment that does not rely on hit roll. Just my two cents.

I run my emperor’s champion as my warlord since he is 75 points and can do some damage to characters and our HP to elite stuff. Plus I can smash in. Other things with how cheap he is

Sadly the regular Marine CP is a complete trap for BT players. The Librarian is not usable AND as mentioned you get the rest for much cheaper in the smaller starter set (plus those Nids...).

When deciding on my first army I knew I wanted to do a space marine one. I was torn between Black Templars and Dark Angels. I ultimately went with Dark Angels. There were a few reasons. But one was that I also eventually wanted to build a sisters of battle army. I felt that having two armies who thematically were the same, ie religious dogma to the extreme. Would be like putting a hat on a hat. I also felt that Sisters fit that theme a lot better than Templars do.

Started an army with Orks cuz they look cool, ended up really enjoying the faction. Probably gonna start picking up Black Templars… cuz they look cool.

Noob question: In Auspex's example list he sticks a second sword brethren squad with no character with in the same land raider as Helbrecht and his sword brethren squad. Is there a reason he did that instead of combining them into one big squad?

No specific reason I can think of. The benefit of having two squads instead of one big one is that you can charge two different targets, and they are strong enough to do well on their own. One big squad is sometimes an overkill, on average you'll do far more damage than needed for anything that's not a Knight, so there's also that.

Here’s a preview of what you need. Flamers, meltas, hammers, and heavy armor. Have an abundance of these and you’re one step closer to to being a sally. Bonus points if you really hate eldar.

My only advice as a Black Templar player is kitbash your own Emperor's champion or highly customise it extra bits. It's a shit tier model and looks bland asf.

You buy a time Maschine and start them when they we're still cool.
