Don't pay attention to the negative comments. We are not perfect, and at least you took your time to make this beautiful ring, and we always learn something new. That's the way we learn in life with trials and errors. Keep your good work young guy👍👍.

I find that a grinder cuts it a lot smoother than sawing it. As for the bending, depending on whether it's cheap or a sterling silver, you should always bend it by hand (with a tight pull) to round it up. Hacking it with a piece of metal into a spiral shape will make it look bumpy.

I had a bracelet once made out of two silver spoons, the ends of which met together at the top front of the bracelet, the end nearest the spoon part formed the back of the bracelet and was joined together with jump rings and a clasp I believe. I don't know what or who happened to that bracelet. All I know is I really liked it a lot. The ring you made reminded me of it. Nice work.

Lol, assuming I'm an independent woman who's more mechanically inclined than most men, why not explain why mandrel improper and bull pin better? Not picking on you, just you tube is to help people learn how to do something! Be it a spoon ring, or highly mechanical/electrical ways to accomplish task the simplest way? Kid does it this way, everybody has their own way. Proper way? Lol. That would be fun to read why comments made. No worries. Your just last I'm reading! I'll check if you have how to make a spoon ring. Ever go in any home improvement store (minus ACE), BEING a female and ask a question, knowing they are just hourly non mechanical employees. The attitude is either you don't know what your talking about (means they don't know), or "I've never seen or heard of a "whatever your asking for"? Lol. Less most ACE HARDWARE, I've never left without getting what I want, even if my terminology or description isn't perfect. I just say what it does and why I need it, amazing how they eventually figure out what this spunky lady wants. Most planes say no and walk off. Just perspective from a Daddys girl who has grown up. Owned trucking Co, oil /has back in the day. Taught me to never allow ANYONE to made me feel inferior. Lol, given women weren't allowed to sign commercial loan until 1988 without a man's signature, Guess progress is taking time!

This is a vey creative way to look into things around us and make a nice piece of jewellery. Thank you for sharing it with us and the video is very good the only thing I wished at the end when the ring is finished, if you showed it worn in some one's finger, so it could show the end product how it looks like when it's worn.

Aneal and quench often to keep the silver mailable throughout the shaping process. The more you work the metal the harder and more brittle it gets.

First thing that should be done when making a spoon ring is torch it with a torch to a dull red. Then it will easily bend around your mandrel. It will be work hardened when done because of the bending. It's much easier this way and you dont risk the chance of cracking your metal.

+Ryan Fager You do not want to do that, because you risk discoloring the metal. Just heat it enough to make it bend "a little easier". Be gentle on the heat, especially with silver.

Heat until black, not red. And then quench. But only with _sterling silver_ cutlery, not EPNS, as heating that will remove all your silver plating.

_Gaffer_ tape. Gaffer is film slang for studio electrician. They use that particular high-tensile tape for securing cables safely to the floor all over film and TV sets. I’m not sure why everyone’s saying it’s expensive. Considering how strong it is, I think it’s fairly priced. And I’m in a country where everything is twice the price it is in the USA. 🥴

Never take any advice from KZread. Look at this guy. Like using his grandpas tools and a ring sizer he purchased on Ebay. That is not how you make a ring I am 100% sure. I think you need to start off with having tools and machines for processing metals first. Then you might need some materials like plaster and wax. You can cut a copper pipe and have a ring in no time. LOL That will impress the ladies. @@ This is when you take too many drugs or have lost sight of any standards. Easy to do wrong and hard to do it right. I wish you well young buck. May my words carry some meaning down the road. Take a step back and be critical on yourself. Will it cut it? Hell no. Do it again, And again. Till you do it right. Lessons you should have learned in school will now be relearned IRL and you will carry that pride. One day son. You get a B for effort.
