Keep them coming lads, there's always something new to learn. I've been filling spools for the last 50 odd years and have never been totally satisfied with the results. Going to stick to your suggestions and see how I get on. 😊 Great video. Ps no more pencils lol.
Perfectly explained guy's , exactly what we all need to know. I used to spool line through an old book !! Also a pencil through the spool and get someone to hold it !! Now i know better. Keep them coming guys ! Nick
Another great video!!!!! Helpful, easy to understand and well put together. Well done lads.🎣😎
Simple and very helpful well done on another brilliant video lads 🎣👍🏼
Hey guys, absolutely love the channels and these tutorials are great! I know this might be such a super simple request but could be so helpful for the amateurs like me - Could you do a video on how to set up your rig with bite alarms please. By which I mean the rod angle on the rest and alarm, how tight the line should be going into the water, the amount of line used for the receiver, the reel set up etc etc. Just think it would be a great little video to help to get the perfect set up going on. Thanks!!
One of the best informative and explained set of course fishing /chub fishing blogs, well done. In fact I learnt more than the videos made by peers, whom I refrain from naming.
I'm a complete beginner to fishing - thanks guys, really helpful so far! 😊😊

You still fishin?
Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod kzread.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.
Really helped me as a beginner. Was all set for a pencil and two people but the bucket tip worked great. Only thing as an improvement would be darker or thicker line as was difficult to follow the knots. Thank-you😊 once again
Great video, especially the knots and backing info. The amount of tension you apply with your fingers when spooling is important as it remains in the spooled line as energy and builds up. Too much tension with a stretchy line can cause problems. Also, if you apply a lot of tension and spool up in a bucket the way shown in this video, occasionally the line will slip off the side of the spool instead of the spool spinning it off, and everytime you do this a twist is introduced into the line. If you apply a lot of tension, these twists will travel up the line and accumulate, which can cause knotting problems later when caasting, or even during the spooling. That is why using something that forces the line spool to not deliver line from the side is important. If you are lucky enough to fish a barbel water where each fight causes several hundred yards of line to be stripped off against the drag, then this will also introduce twist into the line over time. You will have to untwist the line after enough fish otherwise you will get issues. This is a major advantage of baitcasting reels to play big fish as this is not an issue.
Brilliant guys, I learn something new all the time from your videos! The line backing , lol I've been wasting line for years. Your videos are fantastic.

Just found your channel, brilliant work! I've just moved to holland, leaving all my tackle in the uk. looking forward to starting over out here...
awesome video. and gr8 tips especially for braid. personally i enjoy using mono when fishing cause its easy to replace and even when tangled its not much of a pain unlike braid. braid although strong, does have its days with tangle and snapping off too easily
As someone coming back to fishing after being away for over a decade these videos are fantastic. Perfect amount of detail. Love what you're doing guys, thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with us.

I fishing on Carp since two Month and you help me soooo much thx for that Buddy and greeting from Germany ;)
Thanks guys that video really helped me because I had tha problem when it tangles so next Time I'll put it in a bucket of water
Really good video I have always used tape to back up my reels
Spooling reels has always been a nightmare for me, with horrid springy, twisted line, falling off my reel in loops! I have to respool my reels with 15lb line so I'll be giving this bucket and water method a try. :)
why are you 2 so good at everything
Brill video. Really appreciate the discussion points on the different line types and backing.

I've seen string used for backing in the past, not pretty but it worked.
Thank you enjoyed your content
Perfect thanks boys
Hi ya, im a regular viewer and really enjoy your content. So I thought I'd come here for a common issue concerning line spooling, line tangles and hopefully proper solutions. 1. I have seen Spooling in hot water, cold water, or even seen info where you shouldn't spool up using water and even soaking in hot water after spooling as a solution. Someone called it spool to line memory ( something to do with how it reacts after coming off the factory spool) It's very confusing. 2. Nesting around the reel after casting. 3. How to avoid the line wrapping around and even under the spool, its always mystified me how that happens. I know that when you buy a new reel they sometimes come with info but Im sure a video on this would make a great, informative watch, esp for newbies or frustrated anglers alike
Thank you for the video! Helped me out right now:)

V clear. Like knowing knowing braid uses. I just got some diawa sensor clear 8lb for reservoir trout. Tested existing line with single overhand knot and snaps when pulled. Did same with sensor and cant snap it. Useful for fly if u get occasional tail loop knot on a cast
Thanks mate! This has helped me massively! 🤟😁

Hi guys. How about spooling up with Flourocarbon coated lines which you never mentioned? Also there is the point that most waters wont allow you to use braided mainline any more. Just thought I'd mention it. Again lads great videos & excellent guide. Keep up the good work.👍🏼👍🏼
Hi guys. What if you need to adjust line lay, my sonik reels have spindles inside to adjust line lay but I have no idea about this so I just put the line on. Obviously a newb to sorting reels. Keep up the hard work guys
Guys could you do a tutorial on pike fishing, from everything about the set up (how to attach wire leaders properly, best lures to use, that kind of thing)
Watching this, just spooled my first one which was for my partner, waiting for my rod and spinner to be delivered then spool that and we will be ready to fish
You can also use black electrical tape as backing 👌🏻 I’ve been getting on with PB Products 18lb mono it really is awesome line but quite expensive (£25-1250m)
Thank you so much!! I'm a beginner and when I went fishing last night I had trouble with too much line coming off the spoil when casting and resulting in birds nest on the spool grr!! Thx again for you help.

Thanks so much !
A great video guys. As per. Question= do you recommend the Daiwa GS4000 or the Whisker SS2600? As I see you use these reels a lot in your fishing.
You're a wizard Harry.
Thank you
Hi, can you please do a video explaining drag?? I see you holding the reel and adjusting drag. I would love to learn this.

Hey if you haven’t learnt this already (which you probably have) but all it is a setting the reel to set how easy it is for fish to pull line so for say if you had your drag set very loose even small silver fish like roach would be able to pull line but if you had it set very tight not even 50 lb carp or pike would be able to pull any line off your reel and if your fishing somewhere which is very because if you hook in to fish the is surging toward a snag you can lock your drag up and stop that fish from reaching them and increasing your chances greatly of land the fish

Yay glad!
which of you are using that C4 reel and how are you liking it? the c3-6500 is my favorite but i will get a 6501 because i like left-hand retrieve and no changing of hands after casting
When using a front drag reel how should you set the drag when fishibg off alarms ?
Hi guys could you please do a tutorial on how a carp runner reel works please, there is a switch thing and some kind of tension thing on the bottom of my reel I have no idea how to use it, someone said it's some kind of system so the carp can pull the line out, which confused me because I thought that's what the drag thing on the top of the spool does... So much to learn, should have listened when I was a kid :3
Very useful thanks !

Quality channel
Great videos bro. Mabey use a coloured line next time so my blind ass can see.😂 well done bro. Bigg upp.
Hi guys was wondering what brand of braid you use for pike
i've heard theres a correct way to unwind the line from the spool, or it will tangle very easily, as I am experiencing myself at the moment :D
Is an albright knot ok for mono backing to a mono main line ? Have used albright knot for mono to braid before
Great video, thank you! Couple of quick questions if you don't mind? How long would you leave line on a reel before removing and replacing with new line? Also, does line get damaged or ruined just being left on an unused reel for a period of multiple years? Thanks a lot!

Hi mate! It depends how much it gets used really! We replace our line once a year, but we fish quite a bit. If you keep your line out of the sun when storing it then it should be fine for a couple of years easy, but if your using it every week then you’ll end up needing to replace more often! It’s light that seems to damage it over time, and of course dragging it over gravel or through weeds.
Thank you! Well done young man! Potty Mouth Mike. San Antonio, Texas.

I got the same korda carp line as you to try
Do you recommend daiwa Gs reel to medium heavy spinning?
thanks for video Carl &Alex..but i didnt understood,a bit..Do you need to rerrol bride line twice as mono, with two reels?😔i mean for spining ,pike session
Hi guys, great video.Im spooling up my first ever reel today with 8lb mono and your video has helped alot..Just a question.. Does it matter which way the spool is facing and the line coming off the spool? Ive seen other videos that mention this but not in yours..does it matter??
@james6495
Жыл бұрын
You want the line coming off the spool counter clockwise as it goes onto the reel clockwise. This will keep it from coiling up. After putting a few turns on the reel, stop and if the line is twisting by the eyelet, turn the spool of line in the bucket over and start again.
Water trick worked a dream 🤙
thanks
Once you switch to braid you never go back. You can cast a mile, avoid snags, steer fish and deal way better with abrasion. Just remember that knots using braid are sometimes different from those used for mono and fluro. Throw a meter of fluorocarbon at the end before your terminal tackle. It gives you some stretch without sacrificing a whole lot of sensitivity. Without a leader, a rod with a modern fast action can also help keep fish on despite the braid's lack of stretch. One problem with braid is that hard force on the line will sometimes cause thinner diameter braid to dig into the spool when you're reeling. This is easily solved by using a heavier line with a greater outer diameter. a lot of brands of braid at 30 lb test and above fit the bill. Just always keep in mind that using high poundage braid puts your rod at risk of breaking if your drag is too tight.

not all fisheries allowed braid
Does it matter if you take the line from the top side of the horizontal spool rather than the bottom, or doesn't it matter?
What do you guys think off the daiwa gs reel? Looks verry nice. Great vid again lads

Fishing Tutorials - kinda surreal you replying! Only discovered your channel last week and have been watching hours of content all week! You’ve taught me a lot already! And you both seem like really decent lads who work hard! I was so angry when those guys were screwing you out of your ticket and made up lies about you! They were probably just jealous of you and couldn’t take the fact Alex stole his record! Good on you for not letting them stop you! Glad you caught the big scaley in the end haha 👌🏻
I filled up a basic reel recently, as per all instructions and tutorials, didn’t even go as far as the lip at all, kept lower to reduce chance of coiling off the spool, yet lo and behold I had reel tangle after tangle as it coiled off after casting. But it wasn’t all the time, probably 50-50. Weird
thanks guys the knot is a game chainger :)
Would the water and bucket help the memory in the mono and take twist away
And im gonna soak my new line for a hour or so to hopefully get rid off line twists 🤞
While spooling the coil on which reels are to be filled is moving, what should I do?
I always thought when loading braid on to a FS the coils are reeled on the spool the same way it comes of the mainspool and I can not see the point in putting it in water When my spool is loaded I cast out a dexter(no hooks) then wind the braid on the spool under tension
I always spool my reels like this but seem to always get twisted line, and as soon as i slack the line off while fishing it just twists itself, usually round my eye of my rod, any idea why?
Cheers for this fellas
I've tried the method of filling the spool with the mono line coming off the donor spool counter-clockwise, and then letting the filled spool sit in warm-hot tap water for two reps of 15 minutes each: limited results. With normal use the line will eventually take proper shape, even just sitting on the reel spool in storage, correct?
What reels do you use ?
Looks like i overfilled mine. First trip out today with new line and it sprung off. Had to retackle up and then be careful with it. I will run some off for the next trip.
Thoughts on flourocarbon? I've seen where some anglers have been using it because of its sinking property and having a stretch between braid and mono. Would you recommend this as a main line?
Does it matter if the bucket is filled with cold or warm water?
