We started heating with a wood stove in 1975 when I was 11 years old , every single piece of wood that went into that stove was split by me , for over 25 years , even after I got married and moved out. Pops fell and cut the rounds , I split , my 2 Brothers hauled the wood to the truck. We worked our tails off , and let me tell you , I sure do miss those beautiful days out in the woods with my Dad and my Brothers. Those memories are priceless to me. Have a beautiful day my Brothers and Sisters , live YOUR dreams , make memories. Wishing the very best for you all and Buckin and the Buckin Family. Be Safe , Be Kind .

**PLEASE READ** Dear wood man, I am 27 years old and my fiancé and I got the keys to our new house on Christmas Day last year. We live in Southern California and moved from a suburb to the Alpine forest mountains. Our house is on propane. I’ve never owned a chainsaw and especially an axe before in my entire life. When I found out that our house has a beautiful vintage wood stove and it gets really cold up here in the mountains, I began interested in heating our home with wood. I stumbled across your video trying to learn how to warm my family using wood. It’s now the beginning of June and I have 2 cords of BLACK OAK. All of which I fell, bucked and split by myself. I’ve also got another cord of juniper seasoning as well. I now own two chainsaw and although they’re both stihl, one is from the 70’s 😉 I also now own 5 axes, one double bit I burned the handle hung it and oiled it with the WATCO. My family, my son and my grandson will now know how to swing an axe and warm our family with the beauty that is wood. They’ll have tools that I pass down as well suck as axes, oil squirters, hand files and chainsaws. If it wasn’t for you brother I would not have known a single thing about wood, let alone splitting knotty oak with an axe. Please, when you read this, understand that you have touched a young family man all the way in Southern California and our home will be warm forever because of Buckin Billy Ray. -be kind

WOW! That's hero wood for splitting. I have mostly split hardwood. Maple beech ash. Occasionally have tied into easy stuff like poplar. Mandatory wedge and sledge for the big hardwoods. Also had wire wrapped the last 5-6 inches below the axe head to protect the handle and give a bit more weight. Handle lasted over 40 years for this amateur. Deadly good aim going on there.

This video comes at a great time for me. I have a trunk of an old maple tree that I bucked and the pieces are about 4 .10 ft wide almost 5 ft each. I bucked it with a Husqvarna 395 XP with a 36" bar and full house chain. I hit so many nails also I hit a rock that the tree grew around it was 10 feet up in the wood just below a large Y - Fork of the branch. I was not sure how I was going to bust it up and split it. Now I see the proper way to do it. Thank you Awesome tip Buckin Billy Ray. Gotta get me some more tee shirts

Man you have a nice tune on that one! Sounds just right. Just a touch of overrev. She's running clean! I'm telling you .I'll send you some power plus Manhattan oil. You will feel a difference and your pistons and head will actually clean themselves from carbon usually. I did some rounds almost that big for fun and a workout with my helko. I heard it hunting for fuel!! Ok. From road course racing 2 strokes..you want your engine to idle. Important..so when your way up in the revs and you get out of the throttle it continues to deliver fuel +OIL. Idling is a bigger deal to 2 strokes than most people know. Not telling you Buckin just throwing it out there for anyone that doesn't know. From a guy that never burnt a motor down from his tune! Been all around the U.S. on most the well known race tracks.

MYRTLE IS HOME!!!! YEAH MAN!!! WHAT A HAPPY DAY!😁💚🌳💚🌲✊
Love the new shirt. Mine showed up today. I may cut the sleeves off too. 👍👍
Oh my buddy. That Gorilla packs a punch. Those axes work and I mean work. Love the frogs. It's how I can tell spring is here where I live the whole valley lights up with them. The Ole Merc looks awesome and just kinda looked like she was ready to go to work and glad to be home. Love ya Buckin. Thank you.🌲❤🌲✊🪓

I love watching you do what you do, you remind me of my older brother who is gone now. He was a feller & topper & on weekends he would help me gather heater wood for my house. You bring back good memories of my brother. God bless and keep safe.
Inspirational Buckin. I’ll never let myself complain using my Countryline 32 ton splitter again.
I learn some tip every time I watch tour videos! Thanks for the valuable knowledge! You rock!
Sending greetings from Spain! Lovely work you doin there Buckin! Keep it up. I’ll always be there to give my biggest thumbs up to your videos! Spread the love.

Awesome Video Buckin!! I'm in this situation right now and this video helped me out a lot! Thank You Sir!!👍🏻 👍🏻
Another great video Buckin! I always stack firewood to haul from timber as well...I get way more hauled than if I just threw it in all haywire. Great idea with the back window as well, I've broken a few before 😆
I learned several important things in this video from the master. Thanks!
Very good video! Felt like I was there enjoying work in such a peaceful settin.every woodcutter knows that feelin. Everyone has a diff. Method. Fun to learn from others. Thank u for your fun and informative videos!!!
that video that you made on this site was very inspirational for me this has helped my dedication to things
I LOVE the format of the first 3 minutes, very nice summarizing everything but still quickly got to the point, A+ and the shirt intro was funny too 🤘
Love the firewood videos!
Rippin' noodles from the big fir rounds....yummy Never knew why sometimes i had noodles and other times had fine dust, it all makes sense now in the world of wood physics. The Wood Man is physicist in the logical world of the Pacific Northwest. Glad my physics teacher knows how to cut a T-shirt 😊
Workin through some 40in but cuts right now even had to break out the ol wedge n sledge
Had to get my daily dose of being kind!!!
Good looking shirt there Buckin
I love watching when you just chop wood with your axe🪓. Humble labour, as you put it. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Buckin too. Relax,& have a great evening friend.💯❤️👍🏾😀🙋🏽♀️✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
Buckin, your killing me with the leg kick thingy.....🤗
Nice shirts! Truly Fitting! ❤️🪓💪🏻
You made a few warms nights there. Impressed.
Great advice in this video
The percussion from the axe is badass! Buckin is a machine🦾
style :) thanks for all the awesome videos and wisdom

Welcome
Buckin have you ever used a fiskars super splitter axe? Im curious to how that compares to your axes. Also you never seem to use any kind of maul? Is there any reason to why?
The manliest miata video I've ever seen.
You got a really good workout there mister and you you gave us some great information on splitting gnarly wood. You can sure swing an axe Buckin. There is no little taps here and there it is all out war with the axe. I love it.....love you brother!
Love those old trucks. That body seems to have less rust on it than my '07 F250. They definitely don't make them as good as they used to. Thanks for putting another awesome video out.
Beautiful load of wood and also noticed when you were splitting you can hear a echo in the woods greetings from Michigan
Good day buckin!! Wanted to ask you if your axe design the wood bullet will be available head only without the handle?? Keep up the good work Buckin!
All of those noodles could be bagged up and sold I’m sure. Gotta love a good buckin video. Love to you and the family❤️
I'm catching up on the videos. I was at 5 years ago videos the other day. This gives me such an urge to get out there and slap wood. That double edge axe is a beauty!
Absolute Gold Billy ... re cutting with and against the grain ...you'd be amazed how many people don't know that ... builders etc ... make it easy for yourself. Yes sir on hard wood use some gas to save the hard yards on the axe.
Just found your channel the other day. Your personality is infectious man, I gotta say….in a world of today…full of negativity and people trying to divide everyone, your positivity and attitude is a breath of fresh air my brother. Not to mention, I am learning a lot from you. You are already one of my favorite content creators out there. God bless you brother and I am glad I stumbled onto your channel. But I am curious…how many times have you whacked yourself with an axe??

Thank you Matt, for the warm welcome. Love from Ohio brother!
I use Turkey oak in my pizza oven here in Florida. Our wood is exactly how you describe it. It's some of my favorite wood from the tree. It has so much energy in it, burns so nice!
Its awesome watching thos big rounds split open
Hey BBR! Any reason you don’t use a maul instead? Just curious. Can’t wait to see the Merc!
First time I see this technique for splitting knarly rounds. Definitely going to try it on the next big tree I take down ! Would it be faster to split the round in half and finish it with the axe ?
I have some gnarly wood that I've been struggling to split up with a maul so will try your cutting method.
You respect your tools👍I like that tip. Keep fuel in the line. Or else next time you go to start it ya can have one heck of a time getting her going. Especially on older saws. Next thing ya know yer rip cord is broke n yer sitting on your hands in the bush😏haha just ask me how I know❤️🌍🌎🌏❤️
This video comes at a great time for me.

I got a tooth pulled and have been wanting to cut and split some wood but need to wait a couple more days, and yes those first few blocks on those big fir are the worst for splitting.
Hello friends. This is my second Buckin Bill video and I already have a profoundly deep and emotional attachment to him. Gotta love this, dude. Much love from 🏴
🔥🌟🔥from🌲🇩🇪🌲‼️
Good morning buckin
Ahhh wood noodles canny beat them and the smell of Sap 2 stroke and gas and oil love it. Big love buckin from bonnie Scotland
I miss my old 1991 1 ton Cummins (single wheel). A load of green red oak rounded with side racks made it ride good but didn’t squat it. Looking forward to seeing the merc haul rounds again. And because it’s my dream saw I can’t freakin wait to see and here the Tinman hot rod homelite!!!!!! As always WORK SAFE Buckin and be kind everybody!!!!!!
Wow! I have had some 35" redoak been kicking my butt. I just tried this and split almost a truckload in an hr! Thanks!!
When I learned to let the axe do the work, splitting wood became therapeutic.
I just subbed because of THE LEG KICK and SPLIT!
My father-in-law calls those "night time burners" "all nighter logs".
Buckin, when you get the forge going you should make some of those hooks to sale. Love Brother.
Love it billy ray the would cutting an old saws an trucks and all
That pre strike kick out though.......
Shazammmmmmmm!! 😃
What a beautiful collection of axes you have. I know that this just a fraction of your collection lol keep on splittin!
Hey Billy, love your vids, but got some advice needed. We had a couple of trees chopped down and logged a few years ago, ash and maybe oak...? I then had to work away on tour with my band so these logs have been here for maybe 3yrs. I've tried splitting a couple and they are really hard! Any advice?!
Watching this on my marketplace- special surround sound is glorious for the saws but i keep pausing it to see if there's a car outside or in Billy's world. And yes, 23:47, that was pretty neat.
What’s crazy is him cutting and splitting and loading and stacking that wood in such a fast time.
Such beautiful Doug Fir that you get out there in the Northwest. I’m so very jealous. We don’t get them in the east. Lotta beautiful deciduous trees though.
What ax is the best for splitting hard wood. I would love to get an effective ax for this purpose. I figure you would be the authority on this subject. Thanks
Good video
Nice.😆 😆.💪
Good evening men and ladies. Good to see buckin sporting one of them new shirts. I have struck gold buckin. I was able to pick up an old model 47 McCulloch saw and an equally old pioneer. I am going to need some help getting them running but man i am just jumping up and down with excitement. Will try to send a pic of them. Just curious. Anyone know how many cc’s those saws have? Just curious. Have a great weekend and love yall. My nickname is the burlyman. God bless
North east Ohio here out by killinger and all my hardwoods like maple and oak are always the hardest at the bottom. Even cherry locust walnut all of it is like that at the base. Once my axe starts bouncing I throw em in a pile and then grab the good ole hydraulic splitter lol
