The 'T-shape' which you mentioned, or 'Y-shape' in my case as a kickboxer (it's dangerous for a kickboxer to dip our head too low; succeptible to knee strikes/too slow to react to teep kick counters) is 100% *CORRECT* because it puts you, as a striker in an optimal position to kick *through* a target. Think of it as "stomping the ground horizontally" - you're literally slicing through a target in the same way a Thai roundhouse kick smashes through a target like a baseball bat. In both cases, the goal is the same: kick *through* the target, not on it. Proper form & angle is very important in generating explosive power.

Thank you for your comment. You are right! That is why after the T Shape I explain that it is meant for tricking or demonstrating for Taekwondo. For sparring is a different story. I'm glad you pointed that out 🙏😊

@@BVOMASTERCHONG Are you kidding? I saw you with the baby in the side kick video 🤗 I believe Martial Art is really about Inner Peace and well that sign on the wall says it all "This house is filled with Love." I heard that training with a "pure heart" can lead the practicioner to "see through the eyes of God". I have been pondering what that means in it's totality... you have given me a glimpse 🙏🏼
My favorite kick. I love the moment during execution where you feel disoriented and not sure it will hit the intended target. Well demonstrated.

Thank you!! The open-close method really helped to improve my spin hook kick. It helped me visualize what my body should be doing during the hook kick part. (I started doing the open-close methods with the basic hook kick - per your online course). Overall, my balance during and after the kick improved along with my consistency! Thanks again 🙏🏼!

@@BVOMASTERCHONG thanks! I am glad you pointed out not to be too “aggressive” on the ‘close’ portion of the open-close method. I did find myself doing that initially to generate whip/power, but I was not able to finish the spin cleanly. I am practicing spinning hook kick more and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite kicks 🙂

@@BVOMASTERCHONG I think before your tips, it was a very frustrating kick for me as I was fairly inconsistent... I think if it is inconsistent, it is much harder to improve/fix. Now that I am more consistent, I can make small changes/improvements in timing and can add the jump and 360 easier. I am happy... thanks 🙂👍

Hey guys. After master spinning hook kick without T-shape and I was like “Meh Who need this?”, and now I’m struggling with balance in 540 hook kick. Consider doing T-shape at the beginning cuz it’s the secret key to master 540 hook. My point is when you start practicing 540 hook, you will notice that you have to lean your body back to kick higher or your kick won’t be able to throw above your waist. But if you lean your body on the air and together with the spin, I ensure you will lose your balance 100%. Lol, so now I’m watching this over and over again

Make these videos for the non-dominant side (for most people it's their left side) Simply doing the same thing on their non-dominant side is much more difficult so make sure to teach these kicks with non-dominant side as well if you haven't already
