How to Spend Your Money Wisely on your Hot Rod- don't do it like I did.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We've been doing all the ugly work to this read-to-go project car Camaro so that someone else doesn't have too, that means we didn't spend the money on a full interior or fancy engine- but we spent where we needed to to make it the perfect starter project for someone. Sometimes it makes sense to spend less.

Being out of town is great. As a guy caring for five acres it can be a bit of a job. Cutting five acres requires a fairly pricy mower and a few hours of your time each week. I’d honestly never go back to living in a Neighborhood after being outside of town. Best of luck you too.

The video when you put the rear panel all together with the rear quarters was one of you best videos. Your perfectionism really came thru. The welding, alignment and clamps was a very entertaining video. You joke about being a hack you're not. A big shout out to Danielle. She does GREAT camera work! You guys are a great team!

Lol love God almighty, love you gal, love your life, love your hot rods, and have fun. When I was 15 I had a 69 Camaro with a built 396 I beat the hell out of it, would drag race any thing that would pull up beside it. Man I loved that car (probably put twenty or thirty sets of tires on the back of) had every transmission behind that big block you could get. My hair half way down my back flying out the window loving every minute of it.

I think the work you are doing adds a LOT of value to the Camaros. (I watched the 67 and the 68 build) I consider myself a "hot rod guy" and I'm pretty good with wrenches, but I don't do body work. Getting all of those body panels whole and straight with decent gaps adds a ton of value in my mind. I'm very impressed when you can take a car like the black Nomad, which was a steaming POS when you got it, and turn it into a "nice car" is awesome. Keep up the good work! Indiana_Dan

Also I have a 38' wide x 32' long triple garage with 10'x10' doors, a 4-post, and 12' ceilings. I'll never be able to go back to town life. Being able to have a couple bays together where you can do maintenance in one and a bigger project in the other is great. I have a tarp quonset for vehicle storage, so everything is under cover.

I bought a 71 duster from Tennessee 5 years ago saw pictures on a lift in and out.... What came on the transport was no floors except the rear floors. Both front frame rails were rotted all the way through rear frame rails were factory undercoat but that was all that was there. Quarters were patched with sheet metal that was the last car I ever bought without looking at it first. Of course his phone was disconnected by the time the car arrived. It's now at a scrap yard. I pulled some parts off and hauled it in the next weekend. I knew I was buying a roller but no way that was the car in the pics he sent me. I hate crooks.

Dan, I can't wait until you are able to have a shop with a 12 foot ceiling so you can have a real car lift. I got my first lift 30+ years ago. It felt like cheating when i first starting building cars on a lift. I have both a 2 post lift and a 4 post lift. Both are used to build cars. The 4 post is really great for setting up suspension and doing body panel work because the weight is on the wheels. And just running the car on to check something quickly. The 2 post works for most tasks, but takes longer to get the arms in proper place to do the pick( a little tippy without an engine--ask my how I know!) I love your honesty!

We have the same tax issue in Ontario. You might want to look into registering your project cars when you get them as unfit. Then when you go to get them plated you can show how it was bought and you build it. That way you can show that tax was paid on the car and the parts you used to fix it.

I’m the same way man I overthink absolutely everything!! I always worry when I’m selling something that I don’t wanna be that guy who has a post up saying it’s perfect driver and it won’t even run or it’s solid but the floor is gone so I nit pick my own things and talk myself out of what it’s actually worth

I don't think many cars I've bought over the years were what I had hoped, maybe a handful out of 50 or so I've owned. The rest I "fixed up" and sold at a big loss. But I had fun or learned something on every one of them. I only miss the GTO's and my first car a 68 Firebird convertible.

Big shop with a smaller framed shop inside. I can choose to heat and cool either as needed. Nice having the smaller area for cozy warm in the winter.

My own personal situation and opinion...I've lived in country now for roughly 10 years, 3 very small garages and roughly 20 cars on 2 1/2 acres. I'd like to do 50'x50' shop. Cut the amount of cars in half. As far as the shop..put a wall down the middle...half storage...half work space. At that size you could store 4 cars in one side and have lots of work space in other half for 2 cars and one heat half the building.

Another fine DD SpeedShop video! All you are saying makes sense to the logical people. I agree the PST thing is pure robbery. The lift, on marketplace for 16 is a deal. How can you do dirty deals when all your ? Workmanship is out there for everyone to see. Wins and fails. As an out of town lifer, with a 5 acre yard, you dont need anything bigger than 3 acres. Mowing alone can be overwhelming. 5 acres is 5 hours plus with trimming.

2 years ago just about to the month we moved from inner city to City close to county( edge or the City) and missed the comfort of everthing but mostly the home of 30 years, raised my sons, several dogs, lots of vehicles. I watch the you tube videos thinking that the Struggle you mention is the moving vehicle from shop to shop, neighbors so close you cant help but make noise. I look forward to a place large enough you can not struggle, maybe even a New flannel shirt/Jacket LOL.

You’re taking cars that a lot of people would walk away from and getting them back on the road in a condition where the average guy can continue on without getting in trouble and ensuring the car is enjoyed you have the videos up and if you’re honest upfront you’ve done the best you can do I would be comfortable buying a car from you at any time
