How to Speed Up iCloud Photo Uploads from your iPhone
Ғылым және технология
Uploading a large photo library from an iOS device can be painfully slow. Here's a quick video to walk you through the steps I've used twice now to migrate large amounts of data to iCloud from my iPhone. Features custom captions for clarity.
The Zero-Sleep Method
1) Plug in your iPhone and connect to Wifi
2) Open settings
3) Go to display and brightness
4) Select Auto lock and set it "Never"
5) Return to settings and tap your profile
6) Tap iCloud
7) Make sure iCloud Photos is enabled and leave it on this screen....
.... and wait, this will take along time, depending on library size and your internet speed. This will not "speed up" uploading, rather keep it continously uploading.
A few users reported leaving it on the Photos screen worked as they could see the progress bar there. Also, if you're looking to keep things moving and have unlimited data or a huge data plan, you can enable unlimited updates.
Go to settings and scroll down and tap Photos
Tap Cellular Data
Warning, this will use a lot of cellular data! Toggle on Cellur Data and unlimited updates

This is a quick one-off tech tips style video as I've noticed lately on my blog, that a very old article from 2015 about how to speed iCloud Photos is getting a lot of traffic again. While updating it, I decided to film a video and make it a nice short KZread video. This is as quick of a turn for any video I've made to date..
Hopefully you find it useful.

Man, this is crazy! TBH, I found this video after watching hundreds of videos, and this is insane! The 2-minute video changed my life. I am so happy today. My 183GB successfully uploaded now within 3 days. Before that, I was having issues for 2 months, trying my best to upload my photos to iCloud. It didn't work like the last 3 days. Now all perfect. And my phone storage decreased from 253GB to 91GB! Thanks again for your self-made amazing tricks!
I had 60k items to upload, 20k of them were uploaded in literally a month and a half. Using your method the other 40k were uploaded in less than a week, Thank you so much
Great advice, sped up the process significantly. Thank you!
This is the best guide video so far!! Simple and straight to the point. I’ve watched many other videos which just make me more confused.
Oh Wow this really worked!! i’ve been looking for videos that would help, Nothing has helped, this one was specifc w the help iwas looking for. my iphone storage was already FULL (119GB/ 124GB), literally did everything u said this morning, fell aslee for a little, left my phone on, wake up and it’s now (48GB/124GB) THANK U BRO!!
Thank you so much! This worked incredibly, I was able to upload my photos exponentially faster through this method.
Thank you for this video!! Been waiting for so long for my photos gallery to catch up and I just don’t have the time! Hopefully this helps with video edits thank you dude!

thank you!! ill try this!
I feel like this helped. I was frustrated to see buy phone taking forever to upload 222 (mostly 4k videos). It took a couple days to cut that in half and then I tried these tips and I was able to upload the remaining 135 or so overnight.!
I subscribed just because of this video.
i have 22k and started it a few days ago. day 5 starting up and still going, but i’ll try this and hopefully something new happens:)

Thanks so much for this, it seems to have helped a lot of people. But is it really true that the upload won’t happen if screen is locked? Because I have SE2020, and because it has normal LCD I am very worried about screen burn. If the phone is plugged in overnight (which eliminates low power mode anyway), I would have thought that it would keep uploading. But yeah I’m on night 3 and it only managed 5% of an only 45gb library, and the internet here is quite fast. Any advice?
I just turned my icloud photos on and off cause my photos were not rendering to I cloud after purchasing iCloud Storage…But while turning off I lost Some Photos and Videos and they’re not even in recently delete folder or on ICloud Photos? Please Help! Would appreciate that!😢
i hope this works cuz it’s taking days to sync 11k+ photos/videos 😂

Helpful! Thank you
Is it better to do the optimize rather than original? I am just worried about the file being corrupted. Bc some of them are already like that
Big thanks
It really worked! Thanks!
Is there any data transfer limit or something like that? I feel like when I trasnfer around 50GB it definitely stop upload from my PC I copy videos from any folder on my PC, paste it in the "iCloud Photos" folder, but it doesn't start uploading (never) Is there any way to force or speed up from PC to iCloud? _ I got in touch with apple and the emplyees don't know anything how iCloud works. We customers know more than them. Is there any data limit transfer?
Can I upload my photos after I switch my cell service over to the new phone?
How do you upload more photos on iCloud if you already upload photos on iCloud
OK, so I sent a 10 hour video from an iphone to MY iPad with an iMessage. It was a 10, almost eleven hour video. Well then I immediately deleted it from the iPhone. These are two separate accounts, and if I go to my messages on MY iPad, where I used another account's iPad to send this 10 hour video to MY iPad, It's been uploading since yesterday morning. If I go to the messages list from that iPhone in my iPad it says "1 Video Being Uploaded. You will be notified when photo is ready to view." or something like that. It's been doing this since yesterday morning. Is there ANY way I can get into somewhere on MY iPad to see the progress of the upload? I've done what you said to help improve the upload speed some, I'm on that iCloud/Photos page like you said, and did EXACTLY as you said. But SERIOUSLY! Why can't I see a progress indicator?
How long will take 30 thousand photos take on 50 upload
Okay, with the optimise phone storage page, which option is better? I don’t mind keeping the original pictures on my phone, but does it make a difference with time to upload to iCloud? If so then I’ll keep it on the other one.

If the optimized option is On. You can’t view the original size of the photos or watch videos if you are not connected to the internet. Basically the photos are shown on your library but each time you view it, it loads from iCloud itself.

All ideas mentioned are to reduce hiccups but not speeding up uploading. I found that the only way to really speed up uploading is to do parallel uploading. You need to split the 50000 photos library to a few smaller libraries, say 5000 photos in 10 libraries, then transfer each smaller photo libraries as the default system library to a seperate mac, there you need 10 mac’s, each of them logged in to the same Apple ID and iCloud Photos enabled. In this way, you are really syncing multiple libraries in parallel to the icloud photos. Bear in mind, your internet upload speed is likely the bottleneck.

Yeah, like I mention in the vid, it's not really speeding up but it's the most practical method. I'm not sure that the insanity parallel upload is really viable for most people, I'm guessing there's also a non-zero amount of people who only have the photos on their phone and not really going to take the time to transfer via image capture over the horrible USB2.0 speeds of lightning cable to potentially speed up the uploads. I can't tell if you're serious but it may work just using one Mac and one iPhone.
so much for apple "ease of use "
Hi! Can i ask? If we uploaded the photo into our icloud, did our phone storage decrease?? Thanks in advanced 🙏

You can turn the optimized photos option On. So the photos show on your library but aren’t really saved on your device. You need an internet connection tho to view the original quality of your photos.

@@premgaru8556 Apple on it's OLED screens uses pixelshifting, pixel deterioration/panel refreshing tech in it. This is how Apple (and others) is able to have always on displays, be it iPhones or Apple Watches which both are OLED and why reports of burn in on these products are basically non-existent. OLED can have burn in but most modern products using OLED have healthy stack of tech to help prevent it.

Hi
Horrible, makes no sense that it takes so long. I upgraded out iCloud+ to 2TB and started family sharing. I just managed my wife's iPhone backup (56GB) and now mine is stuck around 2 hours (after I restarted it when it was showing 20+ hours) for around 330GB. The photos library of my wife is 245GB and mine is around 330GB with 38700 pictures and 1752 videos. From what it sounds it will take like 2 months!
I’m doing 20k photos and 5k videos who can top that
