How to solve the Hanayama Cast Star in 5 seconds
This is a short video to show you how to solve the Hanayama Cast Star. As mentioned in my previous video with the solution to the Caged Animal puzzles, even though the form factor looks very different from them, the star actually uses the same principal for its mechanism. It is a three star difficulty puzzle, out of a maximum of 6 stars, which is not a difficult puzzle. It is another clever creation by the legendary Nob Yoshigahara, whom also designed the Laby (both produced by Hanayama) ( • How to solve the Hanay... ).
I think this is a sweet little Hanayama puzzle which takes a little thought to solve, looks really nice and once understood will only take one move to solve it. It is also a good little fidget toy. Enjoy!

Indeed, I think Nob took a lot of inspiration from the 19th century puzzles in UK, apparently found in flea markets when mechanical puzzles were popular. Seems you have good knowledge of Hanayama puzzles, any personal favourites?

@@downtimefun I'm a big fan of Diamond, Loop, Coil, Spiral, Love, Hook, Slider, Devil (another early 20th century one). I mostly like the simpler ones - i find the more complex ones are often fiddly and require more dexterity than I care for.

I think cannot, or very difficult, as the dimensions of each spoke is different
