Great info. There’s another fix which is to remove that bl err pin from connecting to the power supply and send it to ground. Works the same way. Looks like Sony may have engineered their led tvs so that power is shut down following a single backlight or led pixel failure. Their advice points towards board failures when in many cases it’s just the sensors sending a signal to kill power for minor issues. 4 red leds can signify the display inverter failing but the test is unplug and follow advice for a factory reset after a few hours. Often you’ll get the tv working for 5 minutes or so clearly demonstrating that there’s no major hardware or board failure. Poor connections or sensors can result in the 4 red led blinking shut downs.

Great video. Thanks. I have a Sony KD-55XE9305. It powers up and displays fine for about 7 seconds and then automatically shuts down with red standby LED blinking four times. Would you think the mainboard is faulty and should I try the same diagnostics? Or would you think its the inverter or backlight issue? Many thanks.

IIRC, I had to ground one of the pins from the ribbon connector on the main board that connects to the inverter board. Probably one or some of your LEDs are fried and the inverter board is sending an error signal to mainboard which in turn switches off the TV.

got a sony KDL46X... which was giving 2red blinks and no start, i replaced PSB then it started blinking 4 times red and still doesn't turn on. should i then change main board or could it be something else? thanks
