Mind blasted!! 🤯 How come nobody told me this?? looking back it completely makes sense. As you layer up sterling pieces the flow gets harder and harder to achieve, lost countless hours.... (SUBBED!!!)

I’ve always been able to solder with fine silver and argentium very easily, but once I started working with sterling I could never get the solder to flow properly, so this helps a lot, thanks.

What is the purpose of the boric acid? How do you mix it?
@AnthonyJewelers
2 жыл бұрын
It's to reduce firescale. In a nutshell, it keeps the piece from discoloring (thus needing clean up and polish) in areas other than where you are doing your work. I mix about an inch of boric acid in a jar and fill the rest with denatured alcohol.

@AnthonyJewelers
Жыл бұрын
No, the melting temp is over 1,000 degrees. Most soldering guns don't get over 400 degrees.
