    The first technique is something that I use somewhat often - comes in handy around the corner of the eyes and lips, especially if the model has some flakiness (such as from a healing cold sore etc). Also comes in handy if you do a very light, one swipe, across hot spots to calm them down. I hardly use FS (as suggested by another commentator) on skin - I find it can quickly go into an unrealistic territory - but it’s great on objects and fabric (fs 2.0 especially). Stay safe Kayleigh if you’re in Sydney - lots of rain coming your way 😞

    Absolutely agree! I find frequency separation greater for quicker editing, (or as you mentioned, clothing and fabric!) However I do find the realism starts to slip as opposed to dodge and burn. Ugh the rain never seems to end right now! Fingers crossed for some sun soon 😭🤞

    @@KayleighJune dodge and burn is definitely, hands down, the best technique 😊 I’ll happily send some FNQ sunshine down to you - it’s crazy hot and humid up here currently!

    First of all, how do you sharpen a blurred image face on Photoshop to make it look focused. Secondly, as for Nikon users what settings can I use if I want to shoot something at night.

    When I create a new layer, I can't use the healing brush on that layer as there isn't anything in it, I can only use it on the original layer. How Can I change that?

    Hi Kayleigh , I really like all the videos that you make, but I have to say sorry about this one, this is not one of the right ways to soften skin texture, I would sugges using Frequency Separation instead, with a radious of 20 on low frequency/skin , and start working on the texture with clone stamp tool, also for dodge burn its okay to work on the skin like you did, so for the other techniques but I would prefer using Frequency Separtation instead, keep up with the good videos, I enjoy watching them.

  • @KayleighJune

    @KayleighJune

    Hi Erjon! There are many different ways you can approach retouching skin in Photoshop, it's really all down to what tools you prefer to work with most and personal preference. I personally rarely use Frequency Separation as I feel it removes too much texture and depth from my images as opposed to using a combination of dodge and burn, healing tools and clone stamp. But that's only my opinion with retouching my own work, you need to do what works best for you at the end of the day. This particular technique with the clone stamp I like to use as more of a finishing touch after my dodging and burning has been completed. (Whatever can't be softened with dodge and burn, I then use this technique on top.) 🙂

  • @KayleighJune

    I usually just make sure "transfer" is checked on along with "pen pressure" under brush settings when working with a graphics tablet. It usually helps to give it a more light-handed effect. 🙂

    Can you please make a reaction video to The lady of heaven movie Trailer? I know this isn’t your type of content but sometimes unfamiliar topics lead to change and this change can have a positive outcome. The movie was shown in AMC Theaters in the US and it had a very long and successful run there. The next move most likely is for it to be shown in Australia and Canada and soon after that it will have a worldwide release via movie streaming platforms and It’s fine, your reaction video doesn’t have to be professionally made. Your immediate action to this cause would be greatly appreciated. ❤️😊
