How to slow stitch a garden | Part 1 running stitch and straight stitch
I'm making this series to supplement a live botanical embroidery workshop that I'm giving. I thought it would be helpful for people to refer back to something after the workshop. Maybe other people will find it useful too. There will likely be 5 videos in this series. This first one introduces some very simple stitches for absolute beginners

Wow, thank you! Talent is mainly practice. There's nothing complicated about what I do - simple "beginner" stitches, no planning, just making one decision at a time and believing that it will all work out - that part takes practice too.
I love this creation. So much fun to look at! I have been stitching all my life, from age 4. My mom taught me on unbleached muslin and she was left-handed, as I am. I see you are as well and it makes it so much easier to watch and learn. I am now 72 and still love to learn new ways. Yours are a delight! Just keep stitching and sharing. ❤

I really like what you show with your botanical rolls- so creative and landscaping area-with leaves, tress, flowers, animals, birds and use your scraps and colors so wonderful landscape! WOW! ART from your creative mind- stitches, fabrics, tools- everything! And teaching ! I love it! I’ll watch this again - I’m an old lady and I’m much slower😅- love yours💕💕💕

So pleased this popped up in my feed. Thank you!

Thank you. That’s interesting, I’ve never really enjoyed using a sewing machine. It was something that I endured to get the result that I wanted. Now I sew clothes by hand. When I stopped trying to rush to the end. I realized how much I like sitting with a needle and thread. If you are interested I have an underwater stitching project that is available with a small monthly subscription. It’s been going since January but all the videos are still available here ko-fi.com/misti_ko/tiers

@@mistikomakes I’ve lost my heart to the idea of starting a piece based on things in my garden (including the vegetable bed we’ve just made.) I’m embracing the idea of a slow project that doesn’t have to have an end date, and where the process is as much of a reward as the finished piece.

Just lovely! I'm going to finish every day with a bit of something just like this--thank you for sharing! I have a wonderful garden outside, and thanks to you, I will have a wonderful little needlework garden inside to go with all of my ferns and other green plants! I'm soooo looking forward to this...a little slow stitching each and every night to calm my mind and end each day with beautiful, cheerful colors! Just so you know, you have changed my mind about this "slow stitching" business. I quilt and knit a good bit of almost every day, but kind of thought of this embroidery practice as a bit of wasted time. I was wrong! Thanks, again.
