I think its really close, like the fm sounds perfect, just the 808s distortion has to be cleaner/different

same. But i dont Think they used a saturated kick. I Think it’s all from a synth where the crunchyness is rolles off with an envelope

The 808 is probably coming through a smidge too much. It’s damn close, just a little *too* punchy. When the original drops down an octave for the second phrase, you notice it’s all crunch, no punch; I imagine this one would still have some punch because of the saturation.

Wondering if you can take a look at this idea for the #SELFIE lead I was messing around with if you have the chance: - OSC A BS2-filthy wt pos 103, level 75, phase 214 - OSC B Basic shapes wt pos 3, level 100, phase 180 - 0 rand for both - Noise arp white, level 9 - Filter for all 3: formant 3, cutoff 100hz, drive 50, res 50, formant 26, mix 100 FX: - zero-square distortion, drive and mix high - eq out the low (433hz) and slight boost to mid/high (5000) - multiband comp. fast attack, 90ms release, 10 gain with 0 low, 200 mid, 90 high at 73 mix - tiny 1/4 note delay and plate verb around 30% mix - pitch automation, 8 down max Theres a more clear vowel-esque sound to their lead and theres some distortion artifacts I can notice in my recreation particularly during pitch bends. Sorry for the long comment, would love some help if you see this, can provide patch or proj if you want it!

Compress the shit out of a pitchbent distorted 808. With a sub layer for definition. It’s nothing special but what makes it sound the way it does is how it hits with the kick in the the arrangement. Use span to look at the waveform and it will tell you all you need. remember, loud doesn’t equal good, subtly and simplicity is king. Hope this helps

Sounds more like just one sound to me, not a separate 808 that is ducking. Add some type of distortion to the FM sound and control that with an envelope would be my suggestion, removing the 808
