It just clicked so much for me. I’ve never heard someone explain timing as remembering which beats to rest on and framing it this way made such a difference for me. Thank you!!

Very clear tutorial. I have been looking for something like this for a while. Finally I ended up here. Thanks a lot! Sometimes even if I start in time, uneven pattern of words in the lyrics makes me go off the rhythm. is there an exercise to resolve that?
My band mates will be very thankful I came across this series

Fantastic
Good that you kept the mistake in ,
After decades, I've been awkwardly making music again. Your topic gave immediate Focus to a musical sense dulled by decades singing at the speakers in my car. While I have never forgotten the structure of the musical measure, 3/4 vs. 4/4 Etc I had forgotten the *musical rest* as like the mathematical Factor that completes the meter, maintaining the integrity of each measure and thereby the entire musical element. Thank you

Thank you. I’m always being told my timing is horrible 😢
If the beat of the song is 4 beats, we’ll sing on every 4 beats of the song?
Hey man , I saw your 3 lessons and I am really planning to do some work with that now. I am good in singing but I have issues singing in time and a lot of other people have suggested me to work a lot with metronome, I saw you didn't mention that much , what do you think about it ? Btw I really like how simple you explain things ...thankss
@singingfromscratch_official
6 ай бұрын
Sorry for the delay, but a metronome can help, but only with establishing a tempo. Really, it's about the math. Feeling the math. I know that sounds weird, but it fits.
Would you consider doing a series on keeping good time while playing and singing simultaneously? My timing is fine if I do one thing or the other, but songs that have a different rhythm between the vocals and the strumming really throw me off. For example, I learned a song where the vocal comes in on the fourth beat every time, but the chord change happens on the first beat. It took me forever to get it right, and I have the same problem over and over with different songs!
@singingfromscratch_official

I hadn't actually, but that is good idea. The core secret or hack to the problem though is basic. Don't think of the two separately, singing and playing. Have you ever sung along with a song and in between phrases, sing the instruments melody? One of the biggest examples would be Sweet Caroline. 'Sweet Caroline - bah bah bah'. Do the same when you play. Sing your guitar part when you aren't singing the song and the two will meld into one in you mind and you will get the timing. Try that.

Thanks very much.. though some details was nusunusu😂
Can we.do it with metronome
Pattern recognition ok
@singingfromscratch_official

Yep. Pretty much in a nut shell.
One thing that I don't get is how one distinguishes a tempo that is 1234 vs 123. From a counting point of view one can do 123 on a 1234. If the whole song is 1 minute we will have 20 123 sets and 15 1234 sets without any loss of counting. Could you highlight what it is I am missing
@singingfromscratch_official
10 ай бұрын
You're getting too imersed in the math of it. It's not about the math. It's about the feel. It'a about rythm. Forget the whole song. Do this. Stand up and count 1234. Every time you say "one" step to the left then to the right on every time you say "one". Then when you have done that for a bit, count 123. On the one step forward and backward. Forward the first time you say one, then backward when you say one. Keep doing that in sequence. Incidentally, if you do that and you put your arms out in front of you, someone might step in and you would automatically be waltzing lol!

How do you recognize a 34 beat and a 44 beat
I’ve been a musician for 20+ years and I’ve always had rhythm from playing guitar but could never sing in time in with my own songs. You’ve cleared up everything, phenomenal job. I now hear where I’ve been going wrong!!! Lol Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!

Is it always 1,2,34? I'm so confused. When an instrument starts playing, I feel lost. I don't know when to sing.
@singingfromscratch_official
3 жыл бұрын
Nope. It can be 1,2,3 as in a waltz like Take It To The Limit by the Eagles. Listen to Addicted To Love by Robert Palmer. The bass drum is hitting on 1 and 3. The snare is hitting on 2 and 4. In the Eagles tune the bass drum is only hitting on 1.
Before one week I was sing in time but now I cant
He got the point but don't know how to explain. In short,he doesn't know how to emphasize the answers...... Repeating the same thing from lesson 1 till lesson 3 🤣 Anyways its good to see these kind of video, helping some beginner 👍
Can you speak slowly please?!
