"FIRM FOUNDATION (HE WON'T)" LYRICS
------------------------
Written by Austin Davis, Chandler Moore, Cody Carnes
CHORUS 1
Christ is my firm foundation
The Rock on which I stand
When everything
Around me is shaken
I've never been more glad
That I put my faith in Jesus
'Cause He's never let me down
He's faithful through generations
So why would He fail now
CHORUS 2
I've still got joy in chaos
I've got peace
That makes no sense
So I won't be going under
I'm not held
By my own strength
'Cause I've built my life
On Jesus
He's never let me down
He's faithful in every season
So why would He fail now
REFRAIN
He won't He won't
He won't fail
He won't fail
BRIDGE
Rain came and wind blew
But my house
Was built on You
I'm safe with You
I'm going to make it through

I have learned so much with your videos. Even though English is not my first language and I had to learn a lot of vocabulary to understand "music terms" it has been a game changer practicing with you and watching your videos.

Hello, this is my first time listening to your instruction. I'm very excited. My song sheet is in the key of G. Would you mind playing this song in that key. I sing Alto in our choir.

I'm a female but my break is at E/F. I feel messed up as a female vocalist but am the worship leader at my church. I almost always pick a male led key. Can you help with my mixed voice? Ps I love this video!

Hey! It is very rare, but sometimes a female's bridge does sit lower. If so, embrace it! Pick whatever key works best for your voice! In terms of vocal training, your voice may need to follow more of the male range in the scale exercises. However, you should still be able to increase your mix voice range to go higher and blend with head voice so that it doesn't break at the E/F.

Thanks for that helpful info. There are actually 2 other girls on our worship team with same break! Their dad and my dad were both bass singers...lol maybe that's where we get it! This is a real challenge personally as I'm the worship leader and Satan tries to get in my head about it. I'll check further into your personalized coaching... if you can send me a link that would be awesome ❣️🙌 God bless you...I'm so excited to find you!

Is the key of E ok for a male voice? Song select (CCLI) has a decent mid range melody lead sheet on paper. Thoughts?

I love you and all your advice! You are absolutely wonderful. That's why I'm not sure you should be promoting maverick city music....i really enjoy the trendy sound of their music, but there platform is not inline with Christian values most times their lyrics are not biblical

Thank you for your comment, and I respect your views on this, and totally understand why you are particular about who you listen to (I am too!)! However, I don’t feel that my role as a vocal coach is to judge others, and choose or not choose songs based on the lifestyle of the artist - I am merely providing training for a song that is being sung by millions all over the world.

So weird to hear someone promote the nasal sound when the sound engineers I’ve worked with are always trying to remove it from some singers

  • @worshipvocalist

I hear ya! It is a balance to find a good mix - not too much that it sounds overly nasal on a recording, but enough that a singer can find a powerful contemporary mix sound!
