It made me wish we had events to go to. I think I'll dress up for myself and because it's my house I'll go shoeless.

For my office Christmas party, which is always at a dinner theatre, we made a pact to re-wear a previous year’s outfit. Everyone looked amazing and our bank accounts were happier, too.

Was listening to this as I thrift shopped for a festive top. didn't want to spend a lot of money on a top and I didn't want to get something that I would only chose to wear once a year cause they feel too Christmasy and don't match my usual style. Focusing on finding something that still feels like me and fits in with my wardrobe helped so much cause I decided against a lot of the usual festive choices. In the end I found the most beautiful button down gold top that fits great and looks classy so I can still wear it for special occasions throughout the seasons, with jeans and a heel or even to work.

Every Christmas and new year I travel abroad to the UK to stay with my husband’s family. I hardly ever get a chance to dress up where I live here, but over there I’m suddenly always out in pubs, restaurants, and at family get togethers. For me it has to be a combination of finding cute festive “going out” outfits to mix and match without overpacking, while making sure there’s also enough comfy and practical in there for chilling out at home watching holiday specials. And it’s all gotta fit in my suitcase! It’s a fun challenge 🎄

Being Latin American, we always used to wear our best outfits, even if we were only celebrating with family. Nowadays I only celebrate with my husband in my apartment. For Christmas I only wear something red or green but for New Year’s I always make sure I am wearing something new, even if it’s a pair of socks, underwear or just a T-shirt.

Christmas in the Southern hemisphere and heading to the beach house tomorrow. My preferred colour scheme for the Christmas table is silver, white and light blue. I have a navy linen sundress that I accessorise with silver jewellery. I wear a black and red cocktail dress that I have had for 22 years on Christmas Eve - it came out of retirement during the pandemic and has become a traditional garment on the day. We have an extended family celebration across three generations over a couple of days and there is a riot of colour and texture and very little footwear and much beach sand.

I am too sensory sensitive for tights, however I did try them recently in navy with boots and a denim maxi - loved the look but tights don’t stay in place. My go too is are coated denim, boot cut dark wash denim, and leather pants with knit or silk tops and variety of boots with heels and accessories of course. I love the understated red lip, I will try it today 💗

I purchased back in the day when I was still doing fast fashion and long wide striped (different soft colors) pencil skirt. The back is neoprene black. Was end of season sale and only huge size available for like $10 since I sew it now has a sexy seam down the back. It’s still my go to if we are doing a dressy New Year’s Eve. It’s a statement and even though I only wear it every couple of years it’s earned its place and will be staying. I’m all about the statement pieces being eclectic comfy and fun

Eloquis is where I bought it so was not really inexpensive to begin with and I was more plus size then I will probably need to take in in more since I’ve lost more weight. The nice thing is I can wear black silver gold etc. with it to change things up

I would add velvet for example as a hair band with no need to throw out lots of money. And I think checks are great too. I have a great checkered button-up shirt that I'm wearing over and over again. Could be a scarf, stockings, socks or a hair band too. Thanks for your thoughts!

We are going to celebrate Christmas at my parents in law. Altough I know that they will glam up a little bit I'm planning to wear a colourful Christmas sweater paired with snow-white jeans and big silver earrings because I feel my best, when I'm comfortable and I know that I will definitely stand out in the family picture as the only one colurful and comfy 😂

We hardly ever dress up for Christmas parties, but that's just me. The only festive occasion I have had this far was a Nutcracker balet in a theater. For Christmas dinner I have always had the same outfit - black tencell turtle neck, a green pleated skirt or a sequin skirt I bought second hand. It was kind of a uniform. However I decided to invest in a new green eco vero dress that I can use even after Christmas. I hope it works. Ladies thank you for another treat to listen to this week ❤️ You guys rock ✌️

Fortunately, people that I visit are old-fashioned and they consider it rude to ask your guest to take off their shoes. I agree shoes are an important part of my outfit and I'd rather not take them off. When I’m the hostess, I always put on shoes in my own home even though I otherwise don’t.

  • @rosej9686

In certain countries, it's the norm to take off one's shoes when entering one's own home, or in someone else's, in consideration of the host. That was the custom in Canada, where I lived for most of my life. Then, we moved to the States and noticed that no one takes their shoes off when they enter a home. Different cultures, I guess.

If it’s your party and your home…it’s your rules for shoes. We’re a no shoes (indoors) home and whenever I go over to someone else’s home I ask if they are a no shoes home etc. it’s just about being respectful of someone else’s home.

I agree and this is how I was raised also. I don't get people who think it's "rude" to ask visitors to remove their shoes indoors.

There are so many places in the world where it is considered unhygienic and rude to wear outdoor shoes at home. Another thing to keep in mind is that wearing a pair of high heel stilettos might damage parquet flooring.

19:43 just don't go bringing shoes into an Asian home unless those are fresh out of the box shoes that have never touched the ground. I'm pretty sure my mom has a mini-stroke every time people walk around her house with shoes.

And this is widely accepted as part of Asian culture, yet some insinuate that it's "rude" to ask someone to remove their shoes if they're of a non-Asian culture. I hate to break it to them, but there are a lot of people who believe it's not sanitary to wear your street shoes all over their floors!
