So many people have asked for a tutorial on how to shoot a soccer/football with power, strength, accuracy, and precision. Here is the Become Elite tutorial on how to do it!
Steps:
1. Approach the ball 45 degrees
2. Keep your chest up and pointed at target
3. Have a slight lean away from the ball with arm up for balance
4. Make contact on the ball 1-2 inches below exact center
5. Position your foot so that your heel is up, toes down, foot 45 degrees, and the side of your big toe brushing the ground.

I play striker and wing and the main weakness in my game is my striking.. I've watched dozens of power shot videos as well as practiced several hours trying to take what I learned into account and perform strong shots. Ultimately I never really got what I wanted.. No lie I watched this video, and a few hours later I went outside to practice with the ball and the first attempt I took for a strong shot the ball stayed waist height, had no spin, and without even hitting it all that hard (just using the technique in this video) was one of my best shots in recent memory. Practice with knowledge will make perfect Thanks man

+Jacob Bynum This is one of the best comment I've ever received. That's so awesome! Great work Jacob. I'm very happy that the techniques I described helped you learn it so fast. Too many coaches and online videos stress the wrong things with striking a ball. Too much emphasis on the approach, body position, and other aspects that really don't matter that much. It's all about the foot making contact with the ball in the exact way. So glad that it helped you!

During your approach you can take a quick peak at your target, but when striking the ball and 95% of the time during your run-up you should be focused on the ball for sure

One crucial thing you are not talking about here is "locking the ankle" which I've found to the most important thing to master and focus on in my experience. Because as you mentioned slightly, during the game you have no time to take a couple of steps or approach the ball with correct angle but if you have that solid structure in your ankle it is possible to send the damn thing in nets and that damn goalie with it. Peace.

Great !! Going to work on this technique, also bought a smart ball and found I was hitting too low on the ball, losing power and back spin on everything...62 years old and still learning! Fantastic lesson Thanks

I'm a striker, people say i'm talented, good ball-control, amazing dribling, high pace, but i do not shoot very hard, watched this video, went out practising with a friend, two hours later, smashing the top corner again and again, thank you so very much, i'm more likely to play more now, and not get benched all the time, you've really helped me...Thank you so much!

As an adult beginner on an experienced beer league team hearing “kick with the laces” made absolutely no sense. And scouring YT didn’t help either. This is the absolute best video I’ve seen on how to connect your foot to the ball. I can’t wait to give this a try! Thanks a lot

  • @MattysModernLife

Another thing that is always missed is that your leg should be straight at, or slightly before (like milliseconds), the point of contact. So many players are kicking from the knee, not the hip. If the pivot point of your leg is at the hip, when you hit the ball, you are going to get a LOT more power than if was at the knee. This is easily the most common mistake people make and hardly anyone ever talks about it. It's just basic physics, you want the lever to be as far from where you apply the force as possible in order to get the most amount of torque.

you are a life saver!!! One of the players on my amateur team used to attend a youth academy in China. He told me a few months ago to shoot with laces, contact with the high bone on the foot and body/leg comes in 45 degree angle(exact same key points you mentioned in the video). I was so frustrated not getting it right and he also was frustrated why I wasn't getting a hang of it with clear instructions and professional demo! You pointed out one subtle key point: shoe position! I didn't know it should come in also like 45 degree, I make the exact same mistake as in the video that I come in with toe straight down (90 degree to the ground) and I hurt my big toes many time! Thanks for the great tip and I can't wait to go back to practice! No more wondering, no more jealous, yeah!!!

This is by far the best video on how to shoot with power. I also watched dozens of how to shoot videos and nothing on KZread compares. If you're a parent trying to teach your child to to shoot, use this and the next video, Learning how to shoot and nothing else. This video will help you or your child shoot with power and as a result build confidence on the field. This sounds over the top but this video is a game changer, every part of your soccer game will get better when you have the bravado of being able to shoot with power. I've watched this and the next video over and over for the last year and will continue to come back to review. Thank you Matt, I can't tell you how much this has helped my kids.

After only about 5 training sessions and 2 games I've had comments from the parents just how much they've improved in their striking of the ball. Thanks again. Brad. p.s., my striking has also improved and I now really enjoy just getting out and kicking the ball. :)

That's a good, clear explanation of the foot position, thanks. I'm curious how you see the mechanics the moment after you contact the ball: Given the natural tendency to have the leg move in an arc, do you (a) try to push 'through' the ball in the direction of the target? I.e. do you try to compensate for this arc by moving through the ball keeping a line to the target - perhaps reaching a bit to straighten the arc? I've heard some people say to not picture hitting the surface of the ball but rather the center ( as seen from the contact point out through the ball to the other side onto the target when looking down on the ball). And landing on you kicking foot is meant to promote this straight through motion through the ball. Or (b) do you prefer punching the ball so it leaves the foot really quickly so that the arc is less of an issue given the fact that foot and ball contact time is less? Awesome vids. Cheers

I've been shooting wrong for years. As soon as I put this into practice I got all kinds of power and swerve into my shots. He's 100% right about foot position and where you contact the ball. It makes all the difference.

New to soccer asking for me and our 6 year old son, when you shoot, with your ankle locked out are your toes flexed down and stiff? Or do you keep them relaxed and normal? Also right before contact with the ball, are your toes pointed to the ground? Or is it pointed slightly to the side? Or in other words are your cleat spikes pointed behind you or down into the ground, skimming the grass?

What about backswing? Do you want your leg as high as possible when going for power? Some say you shouldn't because you come down on the ball losing power, while others say it provides more power as you are swinging through before hitting. Also, when swinging, is it better to swing from the thigh or the calf

  • @HarisRazzaq

    @HarisRazzaq

    8 жыл бұрын

+Maserati Messi swing through your thigh for power, never through your calf. You won't ever get nearly as enough power with your calf than you do with your thigh. Just bring your thigh all the way back and swing it forward and your calf with will naturally come forward as well, but it doesn't work the other way around because your knees allow you to swing your calf without the thigh. You wanna use all your leg strength while shooting, that's why I use my thigh to generate power cause it has more power than the calves alone. With calves, you're using abnout 50% of the shooting power you can actually generate.

Hey Matt, at 2:02 in the video you say, "Also, with your plant foot, you want to have a slight bend.... there's just a little tiny slight bend." Then the video cuts to a picture of you shooting, and it looks like the knee above your plant foot is bent, but I can't tell if you meant the knee or the actual plant _foot_, which in the picture also maybe bends a little tiny bend while supporting and helping to balance your body as you come in at an angle to strike the ball. Which did you mean, knee or foot? Thanks for this great video--it's helped me a lot!

It is never too young to start learning this technique. The earlier you start practicing these movements, the better! I started really practicing this when I was 11-12 years old, but I even wish that I started earlier.

Please please please make a video on how to plant and angle my leg to kick.... My leg never crosses over my opposite leg after kicking... This makes my shot powerless... Also I have no idea how to run up and how to angle to plant my foot.... And correctly follow through
