This video deserves more views and likes, it is very informative, and thank you for pointing out the importance of prep work and post moisturizing, my grandfather used to let me shave him and as he got older I started having to moisturize during the shave process, it really is so important to protect your skin and who wants nicks anyway? 😄

Learning a lot .... I've been DE shaving for a couple years but recently decided to use a straight razor for more meticulous shape up work and such! I was using a Mach 3 for shaping up and while it came out good I felt it could be better ( more professional like ) so I started looking in to Straight razors & Straight razor shavettes! Came across your channel and picked up a few jewels that you dropped... greatly appreciate it good Sir! Definitely going to order that clear shave gel and the wooden handle razor ASAP! Need those in my life!

@@rauldelarosa2768 It's good to keep a DE razor handy. Gives confidence. And you'll get much better with more shaves. The razor might be skipping on the skin due to longer strokes. I had to remind myself to keep the strokes extremely short and light. Kind of feels strange esp. after years of operating the DE razor on autopilot.

Once the razor came I sought you out to teach me to load it and then I found out I wasn’t able to hold it and see what I was doing. So finally I watched this video and paused it shaved, paused it shaved and am looking pretty good. Thanks a lot for the great lessons.

Funny you mention that, cos I was thinking the same thing. I’m learned ambidextrous (almost cut off my left index finger as a kid-surgery, yadda yadda yadda), and I’ve always used both hands to shave. Not exactly, but kinda doing once with the left, and then another with the right. But with a lot of things, seeing someone do things lefty makes me happy, bc I’m not having to reinvent and invert a process.

Really surprised how little shaving cream you use. I understand it can be done with the pores are properly opened and the follicles are stimulated (softening the beard) but damn. I like to have a healthy lather if cream to really stand ‘em up and it makes for a smoother glide. I’ve never liked it when I go to a barber and he puts some butter type product with no cream and then it’s “scrunch…scrunch…scrunch”. This is just me though.
