However, why not just leave some blank space on the Powerpoint slides and do all the writing directly in Powerpoint? That way you have everything in a single document if you want to export the notes. • @BenFinio

    @BenFinio

    2 жыл бұрын

    Zoom has a multi-spotlight feature: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hI590Jt6qLa4org.html but I forget how it works if you spotlight someone else while you are sharing your screen. You might have to suggest that participants go into "side by side" mode (click the view button in the upper right and select side by side). Then they will be able to see the shared screen and the spotlighted speaker roughly 50/50. If they are in default speaker view, they shared screen will be large and the thumbnail of the spotlighted speaker will be small.

    FYI if you think a video is going too fast, you can adjust the playback speed using the settings button in the KZread play bar at the bottom of the video to play it at 0.75x, 0.5x, or 0.25x speed. If you let me know the specific timestamp in the video you're referring to, I can check. This video is over a year old so there's a chance the Zoom interface has updated.

    This is helpful, but let us take the case of a PowerPoint presentation on certain statistical techniques. Then the presenter wants to shift to a live use of SPSS to illustrate the use of the techniques. So, one could shift to a different window or maybe try to do this in the whole screen window. Unfortunately, in my experience, Zoom cannot handle the changing output file that appears on the screen in real time. So you might be able to open a data set in SPSS, run the first part of the analysis into an output file and then when you go onto the second part, the system drops or people can't see the change to the output file as further analysis is added.So, how does one show the live changes in stat output or simulation output in Zoom. Beyond a certain point, we are not dealing with fixed slides.

  • @BenFinio

    Hi - I'm not familiar with SPSS at all, but I have heard that animations in Powerpoint do not work very well. I think this is an issue with Zoom's frame rate when screen sharing. There are two options I'm aware of. One, when you share your screen initially, there is a checkbox that says something like "optimize for shared video." You could try checking that box and see if it improves. Two, when you go in to Zoom options -> Share screen -> Advanced, there is a checkbox for "Limit your screen share to 10 frames per second." You can change the number of frames but I would make sure that box is NOT checked. There are some other advanced options there, I'm not 100% sure what they all do but you can read about them here: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360037870291-Advanced-desktop-client-settings

    Thanks for the video! Unfortunately, the new feature - presenting Microsoft PowerPoint during a Zoom meeting - is far from perfect and is very, very "beta". If one wants to present a PPT slideshow using various animation and transition effects (which are indispensable in order to achieve some pedagogic aims ), ZOOM neutralizes them all and just allows jumping for slide to slide. This makes the "innovation" absolutely useless. Th e ZOOM team needs to works hard to seamlessly integrate the PPT shows with all their features.

    I'm sorry if you find that I speak too fast. You can use the controls in the KZread play bar to play the video at 0.75x or 0.5x speed if that helps.

    THANK YOU for a helpful video. Is there a way to have 9 groups of 4 students each share their PPT, including audio, within a Zoom class?

    Hi - multiple people can share their screens at once, but each participant can only see one at a time (unless you have two monitors, then you can see two). See this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/npuBmMRpoKXPmrw.html
