How To Shape Plastic Tubing To Make Dollhouse Miniatures
As I stated in the video I saw a tutorial online how to use candle flame to shape hard plastic tubes. That idea gave me this idea for using the glue gun to shape soft plastic.

At 4:33 I say to *unplug* the glue gun. Make sure you do that for 2 reasons. 1st and most important to avoid electrical accidents! 2nd you don't want heat during this step of shaping. *Unplug the glue gun before turning on the water.*
Because you’ve been sooooo kind to share this with us, I’m going to tell you what else you can do with this technique. You can make an hourglass. Just insert both ends of the tube into the glue gun to give you the required shape. Seal the bottom, fill with sand and seal the top. Enjoy.

People need to stop apologizing for having "messy" tools. It's a tool. You use it. It gets dirty. Like it should. Only unused tools stay shiny and new, and it's you using it that allows us to watch your lovely videos. 🖤
Excellent tutorial. A suggestion if I may, since some of us, me lol, can’t do printing, how about cutting pix from newspaper flyers for the labels.
Thank you! I have had to resort to using my plastic eye drops ampules for hanging lanterns, and bottles, which do work really well, but this is the answer to table lamps I have been looking for! This will be my go to now instead of the ampules. For flame I used a tiny piece of cotton swab that I painted with touches of red, yellow & orange, then rolled it in my fingers to a flame shape, which could them be stiffened with tacky glue if you choose. It really worked well, if you want an easy flame.

wow, what a great idea for flame! Thank you so much. I'm really glad the plastic tubing has given you another option. Have fun!
Your videos are so helpful. My nieces and nephews and I all enjoy making our own crafts and watching your informative fun videos. Thank you!! ❤️

(I should add my nieces and nephews are of an age that there’s no danger of them hurting themselves)
the part where you said you messed up the ketchup bottle, I thought it looked just like a part used one, which made it more realistic if you were making it for a kitchen. loved this video thanks for sharing
What a wonderful idea! Thank you for sharing.
Love this video. Didn't know if you knew, rubbing alcohol will take acrylic paint off of most hard surfaces. It may work on your tubing where you don't want paint. Just an idea.
What a great idea Sharon!!! I can't wait to try it! Thank you!!!
How fun!! You just got a new subscriber! When you were making the ketchup bottle I thought "Barbie size salt & pepper shakers" I have seen other people put a little blob of hot glue on waxed paper and then put the end you want sealed on top of the glue. You could then put real salt and pepper in before adding the lid. Love making Barbie and Doll house mini's and can't wait to watch and try all your fabulous idea's!! Thanks so much for sharing!
You are a miniature genius. I love these mini's. Thank you for sharing.

I Made Some!!!🥰💖 Thanx for sharing this awesome technique! I had some happy lil mistakes and ended up with something that looks like a lil' oil and vinegar bottle with a spout and from that I learned how to manipulate the plastic while it's warm, also different shapes by letting it shrink down a bit before cooling...I just played with the pieces a bit wanting to see what else I can get. ..I also had some struggles with tearing, another happy lil mistake, I got some broken and cracked glasses I will use later in a project. This was really fun, oh and one more thing ..I just filled a small metal bowl with ice water and dipped the nozzle, I was making a few different ideas, for me it was much easier and a time saver, I could still sit and work without having to go to the sink a dozen times ..lol 🥰
Great video :) You can use craft foam for lids too, hole punches work well with it.
Omg Sharon you definitely come out with great ideas . Just amazing.

For the ketchup, maybe add a tiny drop of brown paint to the red paint to darken it...and just like you did the white paint for milk, fill the bottle with the paint & let dry. I'd also use a white cap for a more realistic look♡♡ Your videos are awesome!! Thank you so much for sharing!😁👍

for sure, good ideas.. it's something to play around with. I didn't know I was going to be adding in a bottle until the end so just quickly threw it together. You could do many different things with the bottle idea, not just ketchup. It would be difficult to fill it with paint wile trying to keep the neck clear without a crafting syringe .. unless you put a stopper in the neck to be removed after the paint dries and fill the bigger end.. I didn't think of that while filming. I have some syringes on order so next bottle video I do will include more ideas for them. Endless possibilities! Fun :) Thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to comment, I appreciate that!
Great idea. I will definitely try this... I've been looking for some tutorial on how I can make a glass and some plates since I'm making miniature food. This tutorial opened so many possibilities. 💙
Thank you! I was attempting to make a little lamp and ended up totally melting the plastic using flame. This is a much better method. Thanks again!

I was trying to figure this out. I was in the right track but this video will save me days and make my finished pieces so much better. Thank you.
Love your videos! You give very clear instructions, and everything is doable, with emphasis on creativity rather than blowing a ton of money on our hobbies. One concern I had about this one is that in the past I've had problems with polymer clay objects reacting with other plastics and making a gooey mess over time. I don't know if that would happen with the tubing.

I have no idea.. I'm pretty new to sculpey clay. I haven't noticed anything yet, maybe the glue inside is helping? I also painted the lid so it'll probably protect it? I did some mushrooms 3 months ago, painted them with acrylics then gave them all a coat of clear nail polish, lol I was told right away that was a mistake so down came that video. I re-uploaded the video with the updated info but so far my mushrooms are just like the day I made them. I don't use nail polish anymore but I wonder if it is the paint keeping them from reacting with the polish? I'll keep an eye on the jar for sure. If I notice anything I'll be sure to do an update. Thanks!
Incredible!! Looking at your work make me understand the world full of inventions that we have . How resourceful and creative !!!😲
Great technique! Thanks for sharing
You just earned yourself a new subbie. From Germany, for all its worth...
While the plastic is hot, you could have your larger glue gun heating up. I think you might be able to get an even bigger stretch on the big hot glue gun, but it's probably not possible to make the plastic stretch to the full circumference of the large one. Very cool! What a brilliant idea!!! Go you!🧡🧡🧡🧡

just had an idea, for the glasses= if they were used, say as jars in a mad scientist lab, or potions or witchy ingredients etc wondering if, you just painted the inside like whatever color liquid inside = you could leave the bottom off- If they were on a shelf or in a cupboard,,don't think anyone would know unless they picked it up or something...but I'm gonna try it. this is cool

the tiny vase is a connector that came attached to the tubing. It had the ridges already, I just cut it to the length I wanted. Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to comment :)
You maybe able to use a piping tip for the second part for the cooling off the plastic tube.

What a great way to recycle my O2 tubing
So cute and well done !!! 🙂
Soo! Precious! Thank You!!❤
What a nifty idea! Watching you do this just made me think of metal piping bag tips. It may be easier and safer to heat piping tips in the oven or a small toaster oven a few at a time. Then apply the tubing over it, followed by a quick dip in an ice water bath to cool it quickly to hold its shape. It might make the process a little less time consuming and more efficient so you can make more at a time!

I wonder how you would get the tube over the tips though without burning your fingers. Or keep the tip hot while you push the tubing over? Maybe I'm not picturing it right in my head, lol might work like a charm! You did hear me say to unplug the glue gun, right? Doing them on an unplugged glue gun is safe and it only takes about 20 seconds or so and onto the next one. You want to unplug it for safety and for cooling
I wonder if you can heat up metal piping tips to get different sizes?

thanks so much! She is okay, they did a follow up xray and found a 2nd fracture but no surgery. And poor thing had her wisdom teeth removed along with another surgery and a bone graph in her jaw. SO painful. We knew about it for years now, the surgery was scheduled a long time ago. It's unfortunate she had to go through it so soon after her accident but she's a trooper!
