    I have always been tearing my head out every time when I have to sew a neckband and it never works. Last night it took me more than two hours (until 1:30am in Sydney) and I failed again. This morning I woke up - first thing was to watch your video. I must tell you how glad I am as I have just finished sewing a perfect neckband. Hurrays! Thanks so much, Thuys!

    My first attempt at a neckline was a disaster but having found your video I will try and follow your procedures. I have just taken up sewing and have only made two pyjama pants and thought a sleeveless t- shirt would be easy. Not easy for me, you make it look simple. Cheers from Australia.

    Thank you. I like how you added the tape inside the neck . It gave it a professional finish that home made tees many times lack, plus it would be comfortable to wear.

    Thank you for commenting this so I know why she put tape there. I like this video a lot, it's very well filmed and it lets us follow along all the details, but I wouldn't mind more explanations. For instance with the position of the neckline; why put the seam a little above the right shoulder?

  • @donp2132
    @donp21322 жыл бұрын

    the Neck tape is added to prevent the fabric from stretching out and lose the shape in 2 way stretch fabric, Notice if it was a 4 way stretch spandex type fabric this is not needed, beacause that farbrice type wont lose its shape while stretching. to make your construction even better You should use your neck tape from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, this way the shoulder seam wont stretch out over time, as the added weight from the sleeves will make them do otherwise. so start it 0.5" from the shoulder , go around the neckline thenfinish it 0.5" from the other shoulder. If you have no sleeves it is not needed.

    You are a wonderful instructor! I have a question though - I thought all stretchy knits had to be sewn with zigzag stitch or only overlocker otherwise the stitches would break when you stretch the shirt over your head. How come the straight stitches don't pop on the collar?? I love my straight stitch machine - I would LOVE to only use that for all my sewing!!

    It looks neater until it pops! I don't know why she is sewing a stretchy knit fabric with a single line stitch but it won't last if the fabric is pulled at all (like when you're putting it on over your head). Not recommended.
