    Great vest. Almost exactly what I am looking for. I just need this vest in a size for a six year old boy. This tutorial was done very well. Easy to follow with great directions. I'm a beginner but I think i can follow this and make a pretty good vest. I don't own a zipper foot but I'm sure I can find a video to put the zipper in without it.

    Thank you so much for your kind words! 😄 you could use a regular foot it’s just more difficult because the width of the regular foot will now allow you to get close to the zipper. Good luck!

    Hi, I was wondering if after you pinned the outer fabric to the lining with the zipper in btwn, do you sew that before you sew the collar together? You pinned them, but never mentioned sewing them, so I was a little confused. Also, do you have any links for videos where you show how you do the arm hole in more detail? That part intimidates me for sure! Thanks so much!

    Going to sew one. Do you have to sew the collar before the arm holes? Also at what step would it be the best to add pockets? Thanks!

    Hi! Yes I would sew the collar first. I would add the pockets to the 2 front outer pieces after you cut those out!

    I followed the pattern (purchased). My zipper pull is on the inside. This is so confusing. The lining needs to be called lining. When I view the finished product on your site, the zipper pull is also placed on the inside. I'm going to have to figure out how to fix the problem as you have the same problem. My abstract reasoning is challenged trying to figure out the fix. Uggggh

    Hi, if you don't mind & have time could you please make an video showing an up close version of how you're completing the sleeve hole portion of the vest? I'm having trouble with the sleeve hole, its getting frustrating. Thanks in advance for your time & consideration.

    Ni' Acea hey! Don’t think I will be able to make another video of it anytime soon unfortunately. It is a tricky step because you are adding clips from the inside. Which part of it are you getting stuck on?

    Painted Layers Hi again & Thanks a bunch for responding. I understand. I kept having trouble with the pinning inside part. I think it was because I kept flipping it inside out and pinning it then sewing. After several tries I just flipped it right side out & then folded the arm hole pieces inward until the right sides were touching flush together then I ironed them down & pinned then sewed them together. That worked that time but I really wanted the no outside stitch look but I had to do something to make it work. Question: when you clip or pin from the inside which way or side of the fabric do you stitch it closed on? Thanks for your time again Have a great night

  • @paintedlayers2154

    @paintedlayers2154

    Hey! I would use clips instead of pins for this if you can. So with the vest right side out you want to reach inside from the bottom of the vest and add the clips around the arm hole so that right sides are together. Once you have them clipped all the way around pull the arm hole out through the opening in the bottom to sew along the arm hole so that you are sewing on the wrong side of the fabric then your stitches won’t show on the outside which is yes definitely the look you want. Hope that helps, I know it’s tricky!

    hi @4:13-4:15 how did you handle the overhang of fabric when sewing?

  • @paintedlayers2154

    @paintedlayers2154

    4 жыл бұрын

    eric bostic Hi! There technically should not be overhang of fabric if there is try to sew 1/4th inch from the edge of the shorter piece or cut/trim your fabric so that both pieces of fabric are the same length. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching:)

    @@paintedlayers2154 thank you (: and I'm technologically not advanced lol, when sewing the sleeve holes is your fabrics right side out and are you splitting the two fabrics and maneuvering around the hole as you sew? seems hard >.

    Hi After viewing your video I was wondering about attachment of the zipper. You indicated to attach it to the outer fabric first, right sides out, however, you attached it to the gray fabric first. I thought the gray fabric was the inner fabric and the plaid was the outer fabric as pictured. IT seemed to work but was a bit confusing. Thank you D

    Yes. But i just fingered it out my way. I had to turn the armhole twice to do stitch from under rather than a topstitch only seam. It is very frustrating. Cant afford to rip any more seams. Best way is to do it with side seams open and arms sewn w right sides together.
