You can use any pattern that calls for a sweetheart bodice. Just apply the same techniques. I personally am using Simplicity S8979.
oh my GOD that technique to sew the front pieces together is so helpful. i’ve struggled for so long because of the difference in curves and raw edge lengths and this is more helpful than you know!!
omg THANK YOU , im doing a strapless dress for my finals and you just saved my life literally
You make everything look so easy!
This video is amazing. I tried this for the first time today and it came out WAYYYYYYYY better than I expected (especially bc I couldn’t find a pattern, I simply paused and created my own pattern slightly time consuming but well worthy it)! This was definitely a God-send… THANKS! I subscribed and can’t wait to dive into your content!
I used this tutorial for my own bodice pattern and it was very useful. It came out perfectly
You make it look so simple. I'm not intimidated after watching your videos.
So informative....pls keep up with the tutorials 👌🏽👏🏽
I’ve searched so many tutorials on this. But nobody was able to explain I’m detail. I wish you tube would vet out bad tutorials! No one ever mentioned to cut the sides to make it fit to the center front. Love Tovah forever!
Just found your channel! Where have you been all of my life? Thank you!
This was very well explained! Thank you!

I had the same idea for Halloween: Tinkerbell! 🧚
Im making this kind of top on a dress that covered the whole chest, and had sleeves. So i removed the sleeves and cut out the pattern. I had issues with the top not staying up so this helped alot!

Love this one. Especially when you showed how to put in the boning. I always wondered about that. Haha

Hello can you please do a video on how to sew a lapel I would like to sew a jacket but it have a lapel and it seem intimidating to me.
I can never seam to get the top of the bodice lying flat. a small section of the sweetheart neckline always somehow curved outward and never had s clean finish. This vid has helped me realize its possibly how i cut the seam allowance along the heart shape this whole time, so thank you for this video
❤️ thanks
HI . Where can I find the patterns for this bodice? Do you have a more complete video in your premium content? Thanks

I used McCall's 7124 for this. But we also have a premium tutorial on our site, showing how to convert a bodice into a sweetheart bodice here: www.professorpincushion.com/professorpincushion/sweetheart-bodice-pattern/

How did it go?
Hello! What kind of interfacing did you use for this? (woven, nonwoven, lighter weight or heavy weight, etc.)
Hi! Could you use velvet/stretch velvet for this?
Do you know where I can find this kind of tutorial but for a strapless straight across princess bodice? I am thinking of drafting one for my fashion project as a part of my dress
Do you suggest an underwire to be sewn in, Im making a prom dress and am a 32C. Because it is strapless I dont want to wear a bra with strap, so should I just build them in or wear it separately? Whichever has better support.
Hi, i’ve been googling Mccall’s M7214 but i keep turning up kids costumes..? Do you have a link?
What kind of interfacing did you use?
hi ProfessorPincushion, how can bra pads be added to this top?
The sweetheart bodice I used was McCall's M6893
where can i find this pattern?
Could you post a tutorial for the zipper?
💛🧡💜💙💚
I wish I wouldve found this BEFORE I did it the first time

Would this work with a stretchy velvet? I’d figure that it would be fine as long at i had a lining and used interfacing but im not an experienced seamstress
@ProfessorPincushion

I would say so, but you do have to be careful when sewing so it's not stretching at all, otherwise you might get a misshapen neckline. If it were me, I'd sew utilize hand basting seams first and then sewing at the machine with a walking foot.

Professor Pincushion Awesome! Thank you so much!!
How would one make and sew bra cups into this?
@ProfessorPincushion
5 жыл бұрын
hmmm...if it were me, I would hand sew the cups to the inside of the lining prior to sewing the lining and main fabric together. You might want to do cups first and then boning and only put the boning in below the cups. Try it with a muslin and see if this provides enough support.
I didn't get what was the white fabric for
The skirt I'm going to be using is super heavy. Will the bustier slide down?
@ProfessorPincushion
5 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't unless you're making it out of stretchy fabric and it can slide over the wideness of a person's hips.
Why do you need the lining? Just curious if it's absolutely a must.
@ProfessorPincushion
5 жыл бұрын
It finishes the top of the bodice and makes it look nicer so you don't see the seam allowances and boning casing. Also, if it has interfacing it provides extra stabilization. I guess you can use bias tape to finish the top as well but it's not standard to do it this way.
Do you have to use the boning ?
@ProfessorPincushion
5 жыл бұрын
Hmmm...Maybe if the fabric was really structured you wouldn't need to but I imagine most fabrics don't have this. Boning helps not only to keep it in place but keep the form from gaping
Would you happen to have a printable pattern?
@ProfessorPincushion
5 жыл бұрын
I'm using a pattern as an example for this demo but I don't sell or distribute this pattern on my site. It's just a general example on how to sew this if your using a pattern with a sweetheart bodice
How to close the bottom of the bodice if not attached to a skirt ?
@ProfessorPincushion
5 жыл бұрын
when you sew on the lining, you would sew all the way around even at the bottom but on one side, you would have to leave a gap, so no stitches, so you can still flip it right side out and then slip stitch the opening closed.

Professor Pincushion. Thank you, I just didn’t know th math behind it. But I got it, your video was so helpful 👍👍👍
I don't get it. The side front looks curved while the front piece looks straight. How to you match it to sew those pieces properly and straight? Do we cut the side piece to match the front piece or what???
@ProfessorPincushion
Жыл бұрын
Yes, you're fitting the straighter edge with a curved edge. Sometimes you just have to try it and you'll see that it works. This is how the shaping occurs. You can do it :D
Please mam can I help you please explain in hindi
