    You mean to an already finished leotard? You could do it a couple ways.. 1. Cut at the waistline and add a strip of fabric. (I call this a belt bc it looks like a belt) You can even do mesh. 2.Cut at the waistline and create a whole new bottom or create a whole new top I will add that to my list of videos to make that's a good question.

    Hi any tips for getting started with a sewing machine and beginner sewing exercises?

    I would start with small projects like pillow cases, tote bags and maybe altering your clothes. That's how I started. I would have a tee shirt and want to add lace to the collar or made a skirt a little shorter.

    Hi! What kind of fabric should I be using for the leotard and the binding??

  • @coach_christa

    @coach_christa

    24 күн бұрын

    A 4 way stretch for both. For the binding, if it's a thinner fabric it might get wavy, but usually when it's put on the waves will go away because it stretches. :)

    Yea! I think you're talking about the machine that like feeds elastic and sews it on at the same time!? That would be such a time saver!

    I recently made a leotard using a regular machine and wasn’t te best option😮. Today I went to a shop and they told me to get a Janome coverstitch 3000 + binder. What would your advice be? Greetings from The Netherlands

    That's so cool my video is being watched in the Netherlands! ...Using a home sewing machine can sometimes make your leotard look "home made" and it can also be a little more difficult to make. If you are looking into getting a machine, more expensive doesn't always mean better. That machine is $1700. At that price (if you had room) you can get an industrial coverstitch for almost that much. I use the brother amzn.to/3OSz98Y and I just duck tape the binding attachment lol. But it works. I also use amzn.to/3DUrxfu for my serger but this one amzn.to/45oxiOf looks good too. I've had them for a while and they really get the job done. Even if I had the money to buy the Janome I'm not sure I would. It's nice that the amazon ones don't charge for shipping but also make sure to check around your area to see if anyone is offering it cheaper or free shipping :)

    Because this type of fabric is very light weight I would recommend a sports bra under it. :)

    The elastic is shorter than the leg opening, how much shorter do you cut the elastic for the leg opening? I do my neck the same way you do your legs, but are never sure how much shorter the elastic should be around the neck. Can you give me some ideas how much shorter I need to cut the elastics? I brought leotard patterns and the fit is go, but I’m not getting the elastic right, I end up with it to tight or to loose. Thank you for the great video. I love it

    I struggled with this at first too. It depends what size. Did you buy my patterns or from somewhere else?

    @coach_christa I brought my patterns size 3 to 14 I think, about seven yrs ago through the Internet, and I can’t find them on the Internet any more. Three of them were the same brand and two others were a different brand, but I can’t find any of them. Maybe they’re not available anymore. The shape is great it’s just I don’t know what length to cut the elastic to because I lost the hard drive in my computer when it went to get a new RAM in it. I thought it was all backed up to the cloud, but thats gone too. I seem to get the elastic, too tight or too loose in the legs and Neck. I mostly use Pattern sizes 8 to 12. Do you know anywhere I could find this information without having to buy all new patterns. Thank you for your time.

    The patterns I have go by like small medium large so I'm not sure what your sizing would be compared to mine. If it's adult sizing then for my adult small I do 18" adult medium is 19" and large is 20". You might just have to measure a swim bottom you like and use that measurement. For leotards, usually there's not a real comfortable measurement. Leotards are just uncomfortable. So it's better to be a little tighter than looser because being looser causes more issues where as being tighter gymnasts just need to get use to it. (Obviously it's not supposed to be too tight.) Hope that helps@@MyLordNelson1
