Just a very newbie question. I have the TK16 and the from the system settings on the TX i can open Express LRS and bind button picks up my Cetus x drone. So why exactly is this firmware file needed?

You can flash through USB or Wifi. If you are flashing wifi, then you need the firmware.bin file - if you flash usb it’s written directly to the radio.

I tried both ways that you described and im getting an error message saying "could not load broken JSON" i have pressed retry multiple times and dont know what else to do. I already visited the ELRS website and found nothing.

Hi Darren have just bought a radiomaster boxer this is my first elrs radio ,I have also got a radiomaster rp3 rx . I have 3 flashing light on my rx and model mismatch on boxer flashes 5 then c . It looks like it is bound when I disconnect the model but on betaflight nothing on radio . Any ideas

Is it the original or mark 2? Original came with OpenTX… the Mk2 with EdgeTX which has USB debugging.

The control distance it says greater than 2Km, what is the maximum control distance it can provide?

I’d recommend the ExpressLRS version, as any quad you can buy comes with an ExpressLRS option these days. The only justification for a JP4in1 is if you have existing quads with FRSKY, which you don’t. I’d also avoid FRSKY. ExpressLRS despite the learning curve will serve you will with plenty of range, penetration and capabilities for all your fpv needs

So I just picked up my Radiomaster X16s ELRS version.I been trying to bind the RM r88 receiver. Do I have to use only Elrs receivers And the can I use this type in elec and gas helicopters thank you

TX16S is already out Mark 2....great! here's where my confusion comes from. And there is an option there with 4-in-1 and ERLS. If you choose the TX16s version with ERLS, you get 2.4 GHz. But why would you need a transmitter like that? They always want to go for the 900MHz ERLS..... So, to get TS16S with 900MHz, I need to buy an additional transmitter in the slot anyway? Does internal ERLS support 900MHz?

No one is going for ELRS 900mhz. ExpressLRS 2.4ghz is just as good as 900mhz, your perception of 2.4ghz are based on FRSKY. If you look at the long range leaderboard, ELRS 2.4ghz has done a 100km trip on 2w. It’s also done 30kms on 50mw. So that’s absolute plenty of range. You don’t actually need 900mhz, you think you do because Crossfire 900mhz has more range than FRSKY 2.4 and it’s why people switched to crossfire. 2.4 is plenty. When you buy a TX16S Mk2, there is an option of 4in1 or ELRS 2.4 4in1 gets you Frsky, Spectrum etc like it always has ELRS gets you ELRS 2.4ghz for 250mw.

@@DarrenAllatt ok, thanks, that is great for and sounds reasonable. I also found out that video uses the 5.8 GHz frequency, and you lose the surveillance link first, and then you lose control right after that.... so it doesn't matter how many walls your signal from the remote, because you'll always be limited to the video signal. So I just need to replace an antenna for instance to fly feather in this case and stay on 2.4 GHz without doubts

Im getting a build error after i press "build". The error message is: "could not install package 'playformio/tool-scons @ ~4.40400.0' for "darwin_x86_64' system" do you know what this means and how i can fix it?

I'm so lost somehow when I try to update my TX16S mark 2 From version 2.6 to 2.8 duchman and somehow lost my tool folder is now corrupted and my internal expresslrs saying No information also lost the touch function so I went back to the 2.6 version and got the touch screen back but lost the tool folder and lus scripts?

you just need to re-download the SDCard Contents from the EdgeTX Github and put them on your SD Card

I followed the same steps in my TX16s MK2 4 in 1 version and I'm getting flash error

Yes that’s right. You have the 4in1 not ExpressLRS version. So you can’t flash ExpressLRS to it

I flashed my x16s mk2 with new 2.9.2 and now when I try to check ELES it just says loading and nothing happens, any advice?

@@DarrenAllatt I had to select crossfire plus o had to install elrs using configurator and now I think it works but I’m a total newbie I only have remote and train inside I crashed. Only concern when I select elite a it says version 3.0.3 when in fact in configurator it says 3.3.1

Hello Darren< i have a TX16S and an T-MOTOR F722 FC as well as a Happymodel ELRS EP1 TX. I have been trying to get the RX to be seen by the Express LRS configurator but I only get errors. I have change the RX twice, I have been careful to put the TX with the RX and vice versa on the receiver, and still nothing. I know the TX and RX are binded but nothing else. Beta Flight can see the quad and that is about it. I have the latest firmware on the TX as well as the FC. what else am I doing wrong.? thanks for the help.

Thanks but that was not it! After doing a lot of research it turns out that I had to downgrade the vista firmware to be able to bind with my DJI V2 googles. Thank you

@@DarrenAllatt I have the same issue when updating over Wifi - I get a "not enough space" error. This is a brand new TX16S with built in ExpressLRS, I did not add anything to SD Card.

@@sarkisfitness1112 first, upgrade to ELRS 2.5.1 (you are probably coming from an older version of ELRS), then upgrade to 3.

Joshua Bardwell did a video relating to a 'bad size given' message which seems like a very similar problem and was wondering if that uses the same resolution?

​@@ginginthing well I am kind of embarrassed as it seems I haven't done one! I will do one over the weekend. Here's how in the meantime 1. Go into the configurator and select the manufacture, target, set your options to be the same as your TX. For version, do ELRS v2.5.1 first! Click BUILD After its build, drag the firmware.bin file to your desktop Power your receiver and wait 60 seconds for wifi to kick in go to the wifi network, ExpressLRS RX and the wifi password is expresslrs Flash the firmware.bin file from your desktop If you put in your SSID and Wifi password in your device options, after 1 minute it should connect to your home wifi network and appear in the configurator> select the latest version, specify wifi then click build and flash

I have the same problem. I am guessing that you have a radiomaster tx16s and not the new radio with elrs build in to it. I am not shore and it is really hard to get any answer from anywhere right n ow....If you find out please share

@@mamoshimiloni9559 yes i got the one with build in elrs module. Try going to model, scroll down to internal (or external) RF, set it to crsf. I think that is what did the trick for me. But not sure. If not, please ask again, i will check again what i than did to make it work

So if you got a elrs module, set it to external, if you got the one with build in, set it to internal . And, check that you open the expreslrs lua script, not the elrs, but i think you allready know that.

Flash to 2.5.1 then to v3

Heeelp, I am a beginner and i just cant get expressLRS installed onmy radiomaster TX16S Controller. The .lua script stalls on loading and I also cannot flash the firmware by serialport. I also cannot change the Internal RF multimode modul to Crossfire (only Bayan....). I already flashed Edge to v2.10.2 Centurion. I spent so much time without success. Can anyone help ?

for some reason whenever I go to the expresslrs lua file on my tx16s, it just keeps loading forever but nothing pops up. Does anyone have any Ideas why?

Have you turned Internal Transmitter to CRSF and set Trainer to Off? Is it an ELRS or JP4in1 version of the TX16S

Legally, yes. Whether you do or not that is completely up to you. But I dare say you don’t adhere to the aviation Louie went flying FPV as Stan so I’m not sure if you’re actually going to wait here to the radio laws either.

If that’s the case, the model isn’t setup correctly Please ensure internal rf is set to CRSF and external to off. Trainer set to Master or off.

@DarrenAllatt I've discovered this since in other comments. I'm quite sure I saw my "trainer" mode set to ON earlier, which would be at least one culprit. So quick question: What would be the quickest way to turn Trainer mode OFF? (btw, this is my first day with a radiomaster product- research led me to this ... thanks mate) 😁😁😁 EDIT: I'm not near my gear right now, I'm at my job overnight. I'll have a chance to mess with it tomorrow for a minute, but knowing what to do when I got home ... would be great! 😁😎

Anybody tried to set this up on the original TX16S (not MkII) As far as i can see the 4 in 1 module is the same and expressLRS firmware too. Not game to try it, this sh_t gets complicated fast. Anybody?

The 4in1 on the original doesn’t support internal ELRS.. you’d need an external ELES module. The only difference is you would turn Internal RF to off and set external RF to crossfire.

Yes they changed it. You have to select a WIFI flashing option to get the build.

Dude you left out telling bubbies how to save the old file before installing the new file in case something goes wrong. And 2 you go way to fast and we have to back it up every 10 seconds. But other than that you have a good video.

yeah that sucks, look, what you can do is get a USB wifi dongle from Amazon for $10 --- here is one I would recommend TP-Link 150Mbps Wireless N Nano USB Adapter (TL-WN725N)

​@@RandoManFPV what you need to do is swap the gimbals around between mode 2 and mode 3. Model 2, Throttle and Yaw are on the left, pitch roll on the right Mode 3 is Pitch Roll on the left, throttle yaw on the right. I am pretty sure it would be a simply as tweaking some screws in the back of the gimbals. I would think to save you from stuffing around, it may just be easier to swap the gimabls over so. Look for a video on about installing the AG01 gimbals on the TX16S (doesn't have to be Mk 2 its the same shell) and that will show you how to remove and replace gimbals

I'm searching through videos showing how to adjust the screws and such to get there but it seems overly complicated and that there may be a fatal flaw in trying to do so on these controllers. Ima try to swap them around like you suggested, thanks for the quick response lol I'm literally at the table working on it right now 😆

@@DarrenAllatt aye I got it all worked out. Turns out the friction screw was tightened all the way down from factory causing me all sorts of strange issues. Loosened it up a bit and now we can change modes without breaking into the controller next time 🤘🙏
