Only video that is simple, easy, and direct about the subject. All others so far are tedious, presenting fluff info, useless info, and lacking in coherency. I applaud you, Sir.

This was exactly what I needed, thank you! All set up with my first Local Bytes Tasmota powered plug, connected to Home Assistant.

I have had these Tasmota units for about18 months and in spite of internet searches could not get them to work. Came across your video, so clear and easy to follow as a beginner. Thank you so much

Great walkthrough. This was my first foray into mqtt and tasmota. I used this to set up 1 of my athom US V2 plugs. Super easy. Thanks!

Perfect, perfect video! I set up my Home Assistant device only a couple of months ago and I am struggling with all sorts of things, finding most of the times How-To's that don't apply to my environment. This one here was precise and I managed to configure my first Tasmota device within the first try!

Thanks for this, still relevant in Sep 2023. I'd also recommend people update to the latest firmware when installing new hardware :)

That's great. Thanks. Home Assistant is developing rapidly, so it's good to see 'in 2022'.

big ups! This was perfect. Thanks mate. Just one note, the Setoption19 should be 1 for enable (at least in 2023/07 current version)

Many thanks. This video is exactly what I was looking for, a smart plug that's s compatible with Home Assistant and runs on my local network. One question, can the energy consumption from the plug be displayed on the Home Assistant Energy Dashboard?

I had issues connecting to existing mqtt-user in HA. Deleting user and recreating it in HA solved it. I was getting rc 5 (not authorized). Login was correct.

Cheers for the walkthrough. I seem to be having an issue with getting the plug to be discoverable. I have a separate MQTT server that I am running on a Pi and I have Home Assistant listening to that MQTT broker instead of having the plug directly send data to Home Assistant. How can I make the plugs discoverable with my current setup, without having to connect to Home Assistant directly and using my MQTT broker on the Pi?

Thanks for the video. Please can i check if there is a tutorial on setting up one of these plugs to detect a device has has been switch on then to trigger another smart plug. For example if I switch on my avr can the plug detect the avr is on and then send a signal to another smart plug to switch on a power amp.

Parabéns pelo Canal. Como faço para que a Alexa identifique ou mude um tasmota como um “plug” e não somente Luz.?

Thank you so much, fantastic. Now, if I setup an IOT Vlan, to secure my network, where my Tasmota plugs or devices are on a different network than Home Assistant, will that work^ or do they have to be ALL on the same network...

Are you able to set a default action so it turn on automatically after a power cut? How would you add the plug to the energy dashboard in Home Assistant if you wanted to track the energy usage of your appliance (tumble dryer)? Thanks

Thank you. Nice tutorial. Do you know if there is a way to retain schedule on/off on these plugs or you need home assitant always active?

I've just checked & if you connect to the plug itself via ip address you can go to Configure just 1 Timer & set a times for turning on or off does not look like you can setup multiple timers?

@@hometechUK Strange. I connect via IP, I set Timer 1 but still nothing. I think he might not know the real time (because I cannot see it anywhere running).

Do you know the fastest that these send energy monitoring info, I am looking for something as close to dumb energy monitors as possible.

Thanks for this video. One thing I found out...don't set a password that is too long. I started out with a 30 char randomly generated password and it wouldn't accept it. Not entirely sure where the limit is but 8 works, 16 doesn't.

I've got the plugs turning up in Tasmota integration, but all show as unavailable, I can send commands and the console is showing activity, but I can't see the output in HA? any suggestions?

I was having the same issue. I fixed it by not changing Topic and "Full Topic" in the MQTT setup on the plugs. I had previous changed this to use my values, but i found a message on another site recommending not to change this values. By changing these values back, it works for me again
