IMPORTANT: Before turning Phantom Power on, make sure that your mic *needs* phantom power. Supplying Phantom Power to a mic that doesn't can potentially damage it. What Phantom Power does is send a current to a mic that has internal electric components which require external power to function such as the diaphragm (the part that picks up sound) or the mics internal amp. Pretty much all *large diaphragm condenser mics* will require phantom power, but some XLR mics (such as a dynamic mic) do not, so it's best to check and be 100% sure. Also, some mics may come with their own dedicated external power supply box (you mostly see this in tube mics) in which case you should not use phantom power.

does input gain have to be turned all the way down before turning on/off phantom power?
“Bae Ringer” that’s amazing bro
Thank you! This was really needed. Not many are showing how to do this leaving people confused and dismayed.
Thank you so much for breaking this down. There are literally no other videos to explain what I needed explained. Subbed and liked.
That memory card sent me straight back to my childhood with some dope PS2 memories man
Starting my KZread Channel and this video was extremely helpful. Thank you and.great content!
Great video. I purchased the AT2035 & the UMC22 to start off with. I’ll get the XLR mini later down the line. Super informative. Thanks for your help!

bro i need ur help
Just a heads up phantom power could ruin some dynamic range mics if they're sensitive enough, so you should mention that just incase.
Thank you so much for this vid!!!
Thank you. Very helpful.
Thx bro really helped me out 👍🏼
good video, i laughed a bit when you said 'bay-ringer' lol. i make music and have been a guitarist for over a decade and just for future reference its pronounced 'bear-in-jer' great video though man, i use windows os for gaming and was a little lost on how to set up routing on windows for gaming instead of inside a DAW and this was super helpful
“Baeringer” lol! I love this guy.

I have berhinger
Thanks for the info. I'm still trying to find out which jack goes between my Audio interface and pc for sound recording. I've got the phantom usb connected.
I have the m-track duo. Seems pretty good.
Thank you so much for this video. I do have one question I can't find a clear answer to. If I use this setup to stream via OBS, will I be able to monitor system sounds as well? I'm looking for a solution where I can monitor my mic, but also all sounds present, including even a guest via skype. Thanks!
How can I change in Stereo my xlr microphone? My problem is that if I do a simple recording, it will record in Mono, and the option to chante in One channel, is not available.
great first video for me. simplified the whole thing when it looks real complicated. ive been using the razer blackshark v2 pros? (the wireless ones) with lots of frustration. 80% of the time when im gaming alone i have no issues. they sound pretty good and the spatial audio works nicely. then, the other 20% of the time when its pivotal to be heard, no one can hear me. i sound "far away." this isnt a bash on the razers they sound great for wireless but... id like something more reliable at the same price point. maybe i have a bad model but this seems way more satisfying than the razers too
Hey man! Pretty cool video, it helped me a lot. Just a quick question, you said that I should turn off my PC before plugging in the interface, but Ive seen in another video (with my audio interface, a Behringer UM2, its like a mini version of what you have), that I should download drivers, and click on install, and when that installation asks me to plug it in, I should. What do You think of this? Ive read something abojt standard ASIO drivers being installed by windows automatically that arent as good as this drivers, dont know really. Thanks btw!

Mine was just plug and play! It installed all drivers automatically. I suppose if something isn't working by just plugging it in and letting windows install the device itself, then I would take the time to go to the manufacture's website and download their drivers.
Im very confused when it comes to setting up for podcasting. I am looking at the Rode podast mic, NT1 and the At2040/At2020. I want a Mic that can connect straight to my Sony Zv1 camera for podcasting, I understand you need a USB mic for this. If I need too, how do I use a Audio Interface/phantom power when the only equipment I have is the Sony Zv1 and a Mic. Do audio interfaces only connect to the computer or can I connect it straight to the camera?
Hay, the pop filter in the Amazon link is not the same as yours in the video? What is your pop filter?
Tysm!
I want to set up solo audio podcast set up. Wguch mic and interface you suggest.
So if I use an xlr mic I have to plug my headset in the interface too? I can’t have a Bluetooth headset with an xlr mic?
I work as a theater technician. I can answer that question about Phantom Power buddy, Basically in short electronics that require electricity is named "Phantom Power" the method that powers these devices are called "phantom", cause you are sending a DC voltage power, straight back to the device in your case( PA XLR to Micphone ).You need Phantom Power to make this system function. Phantom Power is very dangerous when used Incorrectly it will and I state this WILL damage any equipment not designed for it, Example just say when you send Audio via Twitch this is called audio interface if you were to some how have a crazy gaming setup and leave on the audio interface to go to toilet or whatever and this audio interface had about 12 micphones attached and a 4 monitors speakers and few over heads and then reliase oh dam I dont have have my Preamp (electronic amplifier) while phantom power activated before hand. That audio would started making crackling noises feedback bussing or in this case cause you have such a power overload a loud pop. Leaving the Phantom Power no option but to possibly blow up all the devices and yes I have destroyed stuff its all part of the fun. I blew a sound desk up 48 channels. I blew 4 channels on a mh2 soundcraft desk cause due to people pulling microphones out of the XLR when there is still have phantom power. My fault but I was about to power down the rig before I started to tare down the stage anyways cool video my guy
"Bear-in-Jer" is the pronunciation of the company that makes your audio interface.

Actually the founder is Uli Behringer from Switzerland and it is pronounced German, like "beh-rihng-er"
NoteSens il y a 1 seconde old video, not sure if i'll get a reply.. but i bought an XLR condenser mic & scarlet 2i2 3rd gen.. pop filters etc.. and it sounds like poop. my boom mic on my seinnheiser sounds cleaner. how do i get rid of the background noise and crisp up the audio? .. also, is there a way to plug straight into the computer without adapting to usb? .. with some kind of pci-e card? i feel like im losing tons of sound quality and i feel like the interface doesnt power my mic enough
Hello. I bought a microphone that connects with an XLR cable to the interface card. The program that I use is Reaper. Do you know the settings that i need to do be so that I can hear the microphone through the Reaper? Thanks.
does this pull PC audio from the USB, or do you run it into one of the imputs?
IT WORKS.
great vid homie. can I do this while streaming my xbox with elgato through my (pc like) laptop?

How do i connect my arctis 7 to to audio inerface or should i connect to my pc what is the difference?? And how
Nicc do be thicc
You said you can use your mic for game chat how are you doing this?
Can you just put the audio input through the mic and the audio put put through a Bluetooth headset??
is there any reason your not connecting the L/R audio out on the back of your interface to your audio ports on your pc instead of the usb? i ask as im looking to get a condenser mic setup and interface for my pc, but my pc has dedicated audio on the motherboard. why would i connect with usb?
@VicariousNick55
4 жыл бұрын
My PC is lacking dedicated audio through the motherboard. If you have that feature, then YES go with that instead of the USB! You also need USB power for the any XLR mic to work properly.
So I use wireless headphones Astro A50’s. Will that not work with this set up as it has the USB dongle That goes in the back of my computer???

Hi, usually the audio interfaces are connected to the PC like this: microphone -> audio interface -> USB into PC, correct? But can you also do it like this: microphone -> audio interface -> mic jack on the motherboard (and not USB) ..... is the second option possible and do we get better sound quality?
@MD-pz3cn

No the second option isn't possible
could i use this for playing FORNITE and talk in the game at the moment?

All voice programs such as Skype or Discord has an option to choose recording or input device in its settings. Have you checked that you have selected the correct device in the programs? Another option is to go to (granted, if you have Windows10) Sound Settings and opening the Sound Control Panel and then the Recording -tab. There you should see all of the recognized input devices. Selecting the correct one and setting it to Default should make all the programs voice input to use the one you selected by default.
The xlr mic with arm stand, cable, and pop filter is unavailable ob amazon. :(

I thought this dude had cat ears on because of the pillow on his chair
That old ps2 memory card tho
tbh currently this thing is not worth it. it’s overpriced at 140$ rn for a 80$ interface. and it’s just not that good of quality overall. people might as well get the focus rite 212. it’s just overall better in almost every way
It's pronounced BEAR-UN-GER
