Exactly what I've been looking for. Out of no where my headunit bugged out and I had to restart my car then the time was messed up ever since, surprisingly the carplay installation lasted a good 7 months before that glitch happened with not issues on my 2016 Crv ExL

Ive done a bunch of research on this topic. My only question is. After disconnecting the grey gps wire. Does the vehicle still retain the north east south west compass on the upper small display? Or is that feature lost. Its never been mentioned but i always wondered if it stays. In your video it isnt visible

That’s a completely separate module to the GPS which is only used to set the clock, the compass is a unit connected under the rear tail light headliner, little blue plug that you can disconnect to get rid of the crappy compass lol, there’s another video out there on how to disconnect the CRV compass module

Is this how to set the clock after disconnecting the battery without having to pull out the head unit and reconnecting the GPS antenna? I flashed my 2015 head unit with the Apple CarPlay upgrade, but I had to disconnect the GPS antenna in order for Waze to work well. The problem is after I changed my car battery, the clock goes back to 12:00 every time I turn off the car. The only way to fix it was to reconnect the GPS antenna temporarily so the clock could sync. Does your method sync the clock without having to reconnect the GPS antenna?

It does, sets the same data that the gps gives when plugged in, started and turned off a few times since then, she works, even the date is right.

My car does it same. If I turn the car off for few hours it automatically resets to default which is 2001.1.1 1:00. I just gave up and use the clock on carplay.

I just saw that video a couple of days ago and installed CarPlay on my CR-V EX 2WD. Followed all the instructions except for pulling out the head unit to disconnect the GPS wire. So far, I have not noticed any issues with the maps app while in use, be it Waze, Google or Apple. Will report if anything pops up after further testing and use.

Watch different video they show u... download file to usb and install into the head unit... but only work with iPhone and wire connect only

Easy on the gas, get up to speed and coast over hills lol. Never use eco mode its terrible.

After I installed carplay on my 2016 CR-V, the clock is wrong every time I start the car. I can never get it to stay the correct time. Does this fix that issue?

I installed apple CarPlay in my 2016 two years ago and never had a problem with my clock until two weeks ago.. the clock changes randomly every time I start the car. Did you disconnect the gps cable at the back of the screen module ? I did and I wonder if plugging it back would help?

@@mattlab8935disconnect and leave it disconnected it’s for getting the gps time which this video shows how to do without the gps, your CarPlay nav will not work with that gps wire attached and this fix works until the next time you unplug your battery

Quick update, someone used car link 4.0 to add wireless capability to their CarPlay with this mod, and it also has android auto :)

No. I’m going to try reconnecting the gps wire to let the clock reset. Then unplug it again

If you’re using car play the gps wire should be disconnected anyway, might just have to set it again, mine is going on a year with no issues just some seconds lost here and there
