Really helpful video. I've had my 5-S for almost a year now and it's been great. It's definitely a recommended purchase from me. I've relied on other channels to get the fine-tune information before now, so it's great Evolution have produced this officially. I do however have some small issues with the 5-S; 1. You have to have the blade too high to allow the material to pass easily under the guard in my opinion - though maybe my riving knife is too low. 2. The mitre gauge is too loose in the slot so isn't as accurate as it should be. Think the end caps on this gauge should be removed and just have a larger metal section. 3. It's annoying that the cart handles are above the wheels - they should be opposite them so it can be more easily manoeuvred into position.

Thank you for the Informative video. I’ve had my Rage5S for a year or so now and now I know how to fine tune it. I bought this saw for a few reasons: 1. Fence is full length and by far the smoothest of the models I looked at. Well ahead of some of the big brands. 2. Portability and being able to store it in my small garage. 3. Sliding panel on the table when using the mitre gauge. 4. Table Extension wings allowing the table surface to be widened to 1.2m Challenges: 1. The left and right mitre slots are different widths! Right slot is narrower than the left. 2. With the left slot being wider that accounts for the slop when using the mitre gauge even when screwed down on the sliding panel. A few pieces of painters tape fixed that. 3. Sliding panel racks from side to side. Had to adjust its rails to fix that. 4. Blade guard is poorly designed and in my view more dangerous than a safety feature. Also the dust port connector is mostly blocked by poorly located screws which hold the two halves of guard together. I’ve removed mine. 5. Riving knife needs to be tightened correctly to avoid it misaligning it with the blade Overall I love this saw. Features for the price can’t be beat. You just need to take the time to setup and tune the saw first. Something I did not realise as this was my first table saw.

Well late on this however I'm wondering if the differing width on the slot issue has been fixed. My saw was purchased on the 26th Jan 2020 in Australia and both slots are very close to 19.6mm (the upper gap). The equivalent part of the mitre accessory is 19mm. Measuring with a cheapish digital caliper so could be out by .2 or so of a mm.

Not sure if older versions vary (mine was made in 2018), but I found that I had to loosen both hex bolts behind the riving knife in order to adjust the blade angle. Boy, were they tight! Got it and the fence sorted now.

Thanks Lee, that was a very helpful videoon the whole. There is one thing though. If you want to allign the blade so its parallel with the fence you need to undo both the bolts at the back as they are in the same metal bar. If you undo just the one then there is no adjustability. My advice is to undo both those bolts just a little so you can tap the metal bar with a hammer until the blade is parallel and then tighten them again. Otherwise great video and thanks 🙏

Thanks for the tips,I have this saw and I'm fairly happy with it except my saw has the black blade gaurd and it's shocking,it won't allow material to pass under it and raise it so I have to lift this up with my hand (not the best idea for a blade gaurd but I've no choice), can I get the blade gaurd like the one you have here?

Great video; there has been a lot of criticism regarding the accuracy of Evolution saws; I think this is mainly because of the lack of seting up knowledge; as you say your saws are factory set; however people forget that transportation can affect this and they should check accuracy before starting; I have the Rage 3 DB which is great except for the handle which I dislike intensely I much prefer the newer horizontal style handles (no I am not selling and buying the newer model 😂 but if the new handles fitted my saw I would definitely consider replacing it); I will say that the multi blade is a good aground saw; I have used one on both Unistrut and wood even on Dexion (the saw didn’t like the angle of the Dexion but with patience and safety in mind it worked); I have noticed that Evolution now make a 60T wood cutting blade that fits both this and the table saw; as soon as budget allows (I am an engineer and currently out of work but hey ho) I will be buying both the 60T wood blade and the Rage 5 S as the blade will complement both saws 😊 I was considering a more expensive saw but your video may just have converted me 😉

Hi Lee, many thanks for the tutorial, it’s been extremely useful to me as I am new to the Evolution range of power tools that I have recently purchased. I am stuck on the Rage 5-S table saw, it seems that the angle adjustment for the 45 degree is not able to get to the right angle. My saw is getting stuck at 43.40 degrees. If I force the wheel to 45 degrees it just springs back. Can you help please? Many thanks 🙏

It is so you don't get small pieces pinched between the blade and fence, which can lead to them being fired back at you.

Tell me about the blade guard - when I install it, it blocks the wood feeding into it, and for any cust where blade is less than 20mm high it jams the wood as it exits the saw. Really poor design or did I fit it wrong? This is even with the riving knife fully extended.

Just like Szim I have the same problems with my rage5-S. I've been struggling with it for about a year now. Setting it up is a nightmare, 90 degree of the blade is virtually impossible to achieve as locking mechanism moves it by 0.1 deg so you have to guess at what measurement it need to lock to get to 90 deg. Table is totally uneven and slots on the table are of different size. Left one is wider than the right one. Mitre slide is a joke as it wobbles and the table slide has even more movement and wobble. Fence is another disaster as it is not perpendicular to the table and setting it parallel to the blade is again trial and error as locking the bolts moves the fence ever so slightly. And the biggest issue (at least here in Australia) is post sale support. I went to the retailer with my fence problem asking for help either fixing the fence or getting me a new one. They never came back to me and basically don't want to know. Having said all that I'd want to acknowledge that design is actually quite good but manufacturing and assembly is lacking a lot.

Yeah - not perfect, but very good value for the money. And I have found that most of the problems, such as the different slot widths and wobbly mitre gauge can be fixed with home-made runners. I have also replaced the bendy orange plastic insert. My main problem with making clean rip cuts has been due to a slight bow on the fence; I plan to sort that by building a wooden sheath for the fence.

I've got this saw and every single thing needed to be readjusted. blade was not parallel to the mitre gauge, was not set up for neither 90 nor 45 degrees. fence is garbage,it's warped also needed adjustment. table itself is not flat. no way to change the angle of the riving knife which isn't properly aligned to the blade. Had I known that before I wouldn't have purchased this saw and would have gone for more expensive one
