Bought mine about 1.5 years ago and still love it. I didn’t have to adjust anything except the pointer on the fence measurement. It was slightly off. Oh, and I’m using the painters tape on the miter gauge and it works great! The saw is a beast! 👍🏻✅

I have been most intimidated by table saws. I bought a small, poorly made craftsman about a decade ago and had a terrible time learning it. After watching your videos I decided to give the DeWalt a shot and I’m very happy with its size and build. Thank you very much for the great instruction and videos! I finally feel comfortable and confident using a table saw!

That's awesome. I really like my Dewalt saw. It's the nicest saw I've ever owned, so we have something in common.

So far so good.....very glad I found this video as it was a real time saver! Got my saw today and set-up was square out of the box. Right now I'm at the point to trying to figure out how to get the kick-back assembly off it's little storage spot hook to check it out.....I just noticed it sort of dangling down there all on it's lonesome when I was looking for all the other spots to store the items that you showed. I'm a 64 yo woman, only 5'2" and my strength is not what it used to be. I still have lots of projects to do and needed a saw on a stand that I could handle moving around. Very glad my old Craftsman died last week.....it was very difficult for me to handle and maneuver. Looking forward to doing the big projects on my list, now. Thank you for this excellent video in getting me started right out of the box!

Just bought one. The fence stores upside down under the table - that leaves just the flat table which can go against the wall when the saw is stored, takes up less space when not in use.

Yeah, that aluminum tape should work fine. Some have had problems squaring the fence to the table. One guy suggested using painters tape (or aluminum tape) to shim out the fence to fix this problem. Hopefully you will not see that. My fence was fine.

I have this also. The fence come out of sq, factory. I use the blade as the reference to sq. I don't trust the table edge enough. My major gripes are that the legs need to be kicked for it to be firmly stable every time I unfold. Saw dust gets sent all over the place if no vac is on it while having a catchment at the dust port. The locking shaft rusts. However, I'm not using it to make a space telescope. That extra wide cut capacity is SWEET. Runs just as good on the powerstation. That slope in the miter gauge, I just push it to one side while pushing forward. Table also doubles as a miter saw stand.

I ended up squaring off the blade. Mine was pretty square out of the box. I haven't had any problems with the legs yet, but we'll see how they hold up. I ended up getting a bag to hang off the dust port. It does pretty good, but there is still plenty of dust that comes out of the blade slot. I never thought I would need to cut anything over 24", but I've already needed to make 30" cuts, so I agree about the right side cut capacity. Overall, I think it's a great saw. Surely the best one I've ever had, it's also the first time I've paid over $300 for one too.

Woodhaven, thank you again for your set up videos on this saw. I didn’t realize I had posted ON the set up for this saw 🤣😂 but I watched BOTH videos and I’m glad I did. My blade was off almost 2 degrees. Well I’m building my daughters their loft beds and TRYING to build stair stringers but that’s a tough one 🤣 the beds are easy the stairs are not so easy ... my dewalt 618 router just got here today and now I’m debating on building the table for it or buy one, and my set of Freud bits. I now have the dewalt 735 planer my delta W1668 drill press my DWE7491 table saw also my DWS 780 miter saw. Only thing left I’m TRYING to shop for is a REALLY good jointer. But I don’t want to spend a ton of money.. like under a $1,000. I also have all the power tools and basics for my shop. Oh my wife just ordered me the KREG foreman pocket hole machine. PS... I once had a nice set up in my old shop with lots of hand me down tools from my grandfather but I like a lot of men lost Everything in a bad marriage of 20 years now my new wife is buying me up everything to have a new shop ( so I can build her everything she wants around our new home in the country )😂🤣 she tells me. I would like to ask you questions about you shop as I watch all your videos. Only power tools need to really learn is the router. I’ve come to realize that you can do ANYTHING and AMAZING things with a router 😄😄 thank you again and any advice on any other handy power tools or something in the shop I could use let me know ... thank you and god bless

Well, the tools I use the most are my hand drills, hand router, sander, table saw, miter saw and circular saw. Another tool I use a lot is my battery operated brad nailer. Every other tool I have are nice to haves, but I don't use as often. Sounds like you are building a nice shop. You already have more tools than I have.

Bruce, I'm really enjoying mine. It's a great saw. I love not having to use my square every time I move the fence.

I found a retaining wingnut for the storage of the blade guard. When you put it in its storage position lift up the rive end and there is a spring loaded wingnut that holds the unit in place.

I chose a SawStop because it has a safety feature that saves fingers. No other saw has this feature. The engineering of the SawStop is incredible. The assembly instructions are unmatched and goof proof. I was a freelance court reporter, and I reported many depositions of people who had amputation accidents with their table saws and I saw first-hand how debilitating these injuries were. These injuries destroyed careers and tore apart families due to financial hardship. So I bought a SawStop to give me the opportunity to keep my fingers. I don’t know about you, but MY fingers are well worth the little extra money I paid for my Saw Stop. Good luck. It’s not IF you will have an accident with your table saw, it’s when.

Hey Glen, thanks for the comment. Regarding the instructions, there were very poorly written. One of my responsibilities at my job is to write technical documentation, and probably half my audience is people whose native language is not English. This taught me to write to all people's levels of understanding. You had no problem understanding the instructions, but I couldn't make heads or tails of them. They weren't written for me and probably 90% of their audience. They were written for the 10% who have no problem filling in the gaps that these instructions were riddled with...people like you. Regarding setting the blade to be parallel with the fence, you are right. I forgot to include that and added it to a follow-up video. Again, thanks for the comment.

Thank you for another awesome video. I have a question about the rip fence, more specifically the part that flips over. The rip fence is parallel to the blade and perpendicular to the table. However, when I flip the other rip fence piece over, its angle is not 0 degrees (i.e. flat), but rather its sitting at 3.2 degrees...so if I slide a piece of wood from the table itself, it hits this flipped over rip fence (because its not 0 degrees). Hope I am making sense, have pictures to clarify. I have had a play with the screws on either side of the rip fence, but they dont do much. Do you have any ideas on how to solve this problem? Thank you.

I found adding a cable tie around the spring loaded pinion on the rack and pinion fence really tightened up the slop on the fence, and made it much more consistent.

@Danny Cisco: I have this saw myself. Had it about 5 years and love it. I'm curious about your mod, and would like to try it. Where exactly do you place this zip tie? My fence has gained a bit of slop over the years. Offering another tip: my miter gauge had loads of slop in it. I bought and usually use a much better adjustable t-track gauge, but if I haul it to a neighbor's to help cut something or take it in my truck, I dont take that miter gauge - I use the factory miter gauge that comes with the saw - which has LOADS of slop in it. On the factory gauge, I cut strips of aluminum air duct tape (roughly 1/4" wide by the length of the miter bar) along one side rail of the miter t-track bar. I added one strip at a time until there was no more slop in the gauge but it still glides super smooth. Then I trimmed with an Xacto knife so no tape edges would cause hangups or cause the tape to peel off prematurely. Finally, I waxed both the bar (with the tape on it) and the slot, and it glides silky smooth. It made the DeWalt miter gauge actually usable.

If you look underneath, you will see that there is an axle that connects the knob you turn to adjust the fence, to the 2 pinion gears that move along the racks. Also, above it, there is a second rod, which operates the lock mechanism. I simply used 2 cable ties, one near each pinion gear, around both the pinion axle and the locking rod, effectively squeezing the pinion gear tighter onto the rack. Alternatively You could disassemble the little spring-loaded box and fit stiffer springs, but the cable tie seemed to work great, and still has enough stretch, that I'm not worried about causing anything to bind up.

I also did a couple more successful mods to the mitre gauge! A shim around the pivot pin made from a tiny piece of aluminium cut from a disposable BBQ tray tightened up the slop in the angle. Some yellow paint pen over the degrees markings for improved readability ( Hint, don't neatly colour in each number, just flood the area and let the raised numbers become darker as the paint puddles to the lower surface). And a red pointer that is finer and more adjustable made from a piece of thin plastic (scavenged from some plastic packaging from a new saw blade), scored on the back with a knife and with red marker rubbed in, and secured in place with the large factory red pointer. It is folded with a zig zag bend bend so that it now overlays the newly painted numbers with an accurate thin red line.

Could you do a video on getting the blade adjusted to 90? My digital reader shows it at 89.4-89.6 not true 90. Thank you for a great video.

I will mention this in my next video. unfortunately, there is not way to adjust the fence being less or more than 90 degrees with the table. You can fix it with a hack, but there are no screw adjustments that can be made.

I don't have dust collection on the blade guard, so I don't know for sure, but I've read that with both you get in the 90s percent wise. One thing I've noticed is that when I have my shop vac connected to my saw, it alone is high 80s, but when I use a dust collection bag, I get more dust come up through the blade area. I have not tried dust bag with my shop vac on my blade guard. Might be a good test.

I'm here from the future and maybe doing a little table saw research. :) Your video was very high up on search results for this model! :)

Biggest complaint about this saw is the inability to adjust the fence to be square with the blade. Only solution that does not void the warranty (if yours is out of square) is to build an aux fence. There are other ways to fix this but they will void the warranty. Mine was not out of square so I've been ok. I love this saw and would buy it again. EDIT: by out of square, I mean 90 to the table and thus parallel to the blade.

Thank you so much for making this detailed video! I have a question, after setting the blade to 90 with a digital angle finder, I noticed that when I set the blade to 45, it rubs on the throat plate more than I'd like. Is that normal or is there an adjustment for that. The throat plate has a decent bit of play in it from left to right. Just curious if you have this problem as well. Cheers!

Hi Aaron, I don't have that problem with my saw. One thing I did before setting my blade to 45 was to lower the throat plate so that I could pass lumber over it without it catching. That may be why I don't have that issue.

Thanks for the video! When you fully extend out the fence does yours have any up/down play? Mine seems to be able to jiggle up and down slightly when fully exended out and off the table, despite the screws being tightened

Hi - Very helpful video! I do have a question though. I watched this yesterday when swapping out my blade for an 80T. It wasn't square, so I removed the blade height adjustment crank to adjust the camber. After I put the crank back on, the height adjustment wouldn't budge -- the two gears underneath just wobble back and forth against each other when you try turning it (and I did confirm the roll pin was reinstalled correctly). The gears are clean and free of debris. I even uninstalled the blade and put the old one back on and that doesn't affect anything. Any idea what might be causing this? Thanks!!

I'm not sure, but I know there is a screw that adjusts the tightness of the blade on the front end. This screw is not meant to be tightened. If it is it will cause the blade to stop adjusting properly. These saws are under warranty. Log onto dewault.com and register the saw, then look for a close authorized repair shop and they will repair it for no charge.

Great video! Just purchased and setup went ok except for storage of blade guard assembly. How is this done. Also, I noticed you removed the rifling knife prior to storage. How is the knife removed? Thank you!

Hi Paulo, the saw that I bought in the u.S. is 120V, but you can get 240V outside the U.S. if the saw is available.

Another trick for a sloppy mitre slot is if your mitre gauge has a solid metal bar, you can take a center punch and make some divots along the edge of the bar and it will leave a small "mushrooming" around each divot and it can fill in the slop.
