ABOUT US:
We’re OtO Inc., and we’re using technology to improve lawn and garden care for people and the planet.
The OtO Lawn smart device is the world’s first smart outdoor device that waters your lawn while also applying natural solutions that keep your garden green and pest free, all from one compact unit. Think of it as the littlest lawn assistant you ever had.
We’re a proudly Canadian startup, moving quickly and building a global $10 billion-dollar company by launching smart outdoor products that solve real problems (strictly no gimmicks). Like how 50% of residential water is wasted due to poor irrigation techniques. Or how we can save our users hours every week just by automating their watering. Or how people can save tons of carbon by growing their own food at home.
Whether it’s treating our customers with kindness and radical transparency or investing in our own team members as much as we invest in our own products, we believe people are our biggest asset.
We also believe that good design is sustainable. That happy employees mean happy customers. Helping people adopt a more sustainable lifestyle and lawn care practices that are good for them, for their families, and for the environment is a privilege.

    I just built the same thing with a raspberry pie, an electric valve, garden hose, eufy camera, and gpt4o AI image processing. It's even better, it figured out what to water on it's own. $130 bucks and some programming.

    Hi there! You described a small portion of what OtO does for our users. However, if you can build something that meets your needs, that's awesome! OtO was made to save people time and money and to create a true "set it and forget it" situation for customers so they don't have to worry about hiring expensive irrigation professionals or figuring out how to build their own solutions from scratch.

    I'm really curious about a couple of things: 1) how does this thing do when there are trees in your yard and 2) is it sensitive to water pressure (or lack thereof) from water being used in other places inside your house, and how does it affect the setup process? Thanks!

  • @otolawn

    Hey there, great questions! 1. OtO is versatile that it can be set to water any shape. The device can be set to 3 types of zones to accommodate your lawn setup: polygon which is ideal for lawns (even irregularly shaped ones!), the spot zone which is perfect for trees and potted plants, and line zone which is perfect with shrubs, and hedges, and garden beds. If you have trees in your yard, you can make use of the spot zone to specifically water it! 2. OtO was designed to compensate for changes in water pressure. This is to ensure that it will continue to put down a consistent amount of water evenly across the entire zone and targets the correct watering location regardless of pressure fluctuations! 🎯 Let me know if you have further questions!

    Absolutely! With OtO, you can set your zone boundaries right from the app, giving you full control over where your lawn gets watered. And yes, if you ever feel like giving your lawn an extra drink outside of the regular schedule, you can manually water whenever you want. It's all about giving you flexibility and convenience!

    Couple Questions 1) Do you guys have an option for a Weed and Feed solution? 2) On top of watering a lawn, how well would this water any nearby flower boxes or pots? 3) if able water flowers, is that fertilizer you offer work on flowers also?

  • @otolawn

    @otolawn

    Hey there! Thanks for the comment. Happy to answer all your questions one by one. 😊️ 1. We do not currently sell weed killer. However, the best defense against weeds is to have a thick, strong, healthy turf that prevents weeds from coming up in the first place. Our Lawn Food + Molasses fertilizer (13-0-4) can help nourish the soil, promoting healthy grass that out-compete weeds for nutrients, water and sun that weeds require to grow. We may come up with more weed-focused solutions in the future! 2. OtO is actually versatile that it can be set to water any shape. The device can be set to 3 types of zones to accommodate your lawn setup: polygon which is ideal for lawns (even irregularly shaped ones!), the spot zone which is perfect for trees and potted plants, and line zone which is perfect with shrubs, and hedges, and garden beds. If you have set the spot zone that hits your flowerpots/boxes perfectly, OtO will surely water it well! You can adjust the watering limit to accommodate your watering needs too! 3. Yes, Lawn Food + Molasses can also be used on other plants such as flower gardens and edibles (veggies, fruits). As a best practice however, we do recommend only using our fertilizer on edibles before and after growth. Let me know if you have further questions!

    Thanks for the comment! It seems like you're asking if the OtO device can operate without internet access, perhaps in a local network-only mode. Currently, OtO requires internet access to function properly as it communicates with our servers to provide updates, receive commands, and ensure optimal performance. However, we're continuously exploring ways to enhance our product, so your feedback is valuable to us. If you have any other questions or suggestions, feel free to let us know!

    That price tag.... I'd love to know how well this device would do in regular 100 plus degree weather like Arizona. The sun is brutal out here on plastics. I see the solar option appealing but what's the life expectancy when this plastic electronic device is in direct brutal heat 24/7? I'd love to test one out. i feel the heat would kill this thing after the 1st summer. Water, plastic, rubber, electronics, moving gears repeat direct 100 plus heat.

    Hide it in a bushes or apply plastic protective solution, build a cover box or even paint it to match the house. Offer solutions instead of complaints. The price is nothing compared to professional underground installation, equipment, piping, continuous maintenance and “plastic” sprinklers that can be easily destroyed by lawn mover.

    I will use OTO to top up my in-ground pool each day, and water the lawn and some plants around it. So, if I set up one zone just for the pool, is there a problem with getting the chemical fertilizer or mosquito repellent in the pool?

  • @otolawn

    That sounds like a practical setup for using OtO around your pool and garden! However, we highly recommend not using the solutions, such as chemical fertilizers or mosquito repellent, in any bodies of water, including your pool. These solutions are specifically formulated for lawn and plant care and might not be safe for use in swimming pools. Setting for new sod?

  • @otolawn

    @otolawn

    2 ай бұрын

    Hey there, thanks for the comment! For a newly seeded area, it's important to keep the seeds moist as they germinate. The best way to do this is to water lightly multiple times a day. OtO can help automate this process by setting a special watering routine. Just program it to provide frequent, light watering sessions to ensure your new sod gets the moisture it needs to thrive. Great idea but this thing needs some revisions before I’d buy it. It needs more of an “impulse” type sprinkler function not this tiny little stream. The wind will blow that everywhere but where it needs to be. I cannot see this filling in the entire polygon area accurately in a timely manner with that pathetic little stream of water. You guys really don’t have the water volume coming out that I would expect from a sprinkler demanding 5.5 gallons/minute out of a 5/8” garden hose. Also…. a two year warranty for something this expensive is a joke in Canada! We’d basically get 6-8 months of warranty on this thing for 2 summer seasons.

    Thank you for sharing your feedback and concerns. We appreciate your input as it helps us improve our product. We understand your desire for a more powerful water stream and we're constantly working on enhancing the performance of OtO to meet different watering needs. On average, OtO waters 1-2 hours, 3x a week to deliver the right amount of water. It automatically adjusts to weather and wind, ensuring it waters at the optimal time to deliver precise and full-coverage watering. We also take warranty coverage seriously and will take your feedback into consideration for future updates. • @otolawn

    @otolawn

    7 күн бұрын

    Hey there, appreciate your feedback! So, each unit starts at $470, and if you need more, each additional unit is $420. Comparable Wi-Fi sprinkler controllers are between $150 - $250, however they don’t include any hoses, sprinkler heads, etc. OtO is like getting more than 10 zones, Wi-Fi-connected sprinkler controller, sprinkler, AND fertilizer application system all in one! In-ground sprinkler systems usually start at $2,500, plus require annual maintenance. This can be a lot for a small or medium-sized yard, especially if this isn’t your forever home or you want some flexibility on your landscaping (once you install an in-ground, it’s pretty permanent! Whereas OtO only takes a few minutes to set up). We have a handy comparison table on our homepage if you’d like more info otolawn.com/ 😊 Hope this helps clarify things!
