How to Set up Homing on Masso - Masso Edition 15

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video is a step by step guide to setting up homing on Masso.
It covers preliminary settings to ensure easy setup an then a methodical method for testing and configuring Masso to ensure a successful outcome.
It also takes you through some of the pitfalls that I have become aware of in the past and shows what can happen when you get it wrong.
I hope you find this useful.
Cheers
Peter

You are something else. so clear and direct. God Bless. I was going to return Masso after trying to setup and wire it to clearpath servos. I just could not do it without your videos. Finally I got it wired and working. I like it and hope the next few days will clear all issues that I might have

I'll echo that. It's a very complex machine, the Masso is, not to mention the darn CNC it's attached to. Peter really knows his stuff. I would be hesitant to say that nobody knows the Masso system forward and backward like him.

Hi Peter, thanks for all your help and time doing videos, they are a great help for us newbies. My question is ; The Roko switch you show in these videos is a SN04-N at the 1:31 second mark. Is this a "Normally Open" type switch. Are we best off to use the "Normally Closed" type as they are safer with regard to wires breaking or coming off. I tracked down a supplier of this brand of switch, he offers them in a 'NO' or 'NC', but also the option of NPN or PNP, can u please tel me which is the correct type to purchase. Thanks in advance.

Peter, I am trying to understand how the physical wiring to Masso should be done. The Masso documentation shows the negative wire is connected to the negative on the Masso and to the negative on the 5V power supply. Is this correct? Why would There be a need for two negative leads? The specs of the Masso sensor shows a voltage range of 9V to 24V, but the documentation shows 5V. I am uncertain as to which power supply I should connect the Homing switches. Thanks for all the great information. I really appreciate your time and effort. A video showing your connections would be awesome. Steve

Hello Peter, Thanks for the clear explanation, but does each axis need its own input? Best regards, Martin

Like the idea of inductive sensors for limit switches. Did you use NO or NC. Or can it set up in software?

They change state from high to low when triggered. You sort it out in software later. You can use NO or NC switches with Masso. Cheers Peter

Use NC. That way a bad connection will fault out.

@@cncnutzmassoedition9131 Happens to have this exact switch from a 3d printer add on that I never used and it does not work. I don't see the input change the status to high.

I was really liking Masso G3 until I found out there is no G76 lathe threading. Deal breaker.
