Great video, well explained, I'm fairly new to woodworking but was lucky enough to get a set of the dark brown narex chisels for my birthday and I didn't want to ruin them.

That’s really cool mate ! They are great chisels for the money, I have two sets that I use regularly and can’t fault them ! Keep with the woodworking mate, it is a great way to be creative and destress !

@@LTWCarpentry Bought the basic set of six plus a 40mm, Lewis. I was close to doing so before your vid, and that got me moving. They aren't perfect, but it's all proving to be minor and correctible -- routine stuff really. They'll serve their purpose right well after a bit of working over, making the price a great bargain.

Very comprehensive video mate. Great tip with the Linseed oil. I’m off to the hardware store over the weekend 😉

Nice video mate. I can’t find the full sharpening video you mentioned on your channel. Did you remove it?

Great video mate I enjoyed watching it. Just one small observation, I noticed you were using quite short strokes near the middle of the stone? Would it not increase the life of the stone to use full length strokes and also cut more metal per stroke making the process more efficient?

I literally just bought a set and went to clean off the grease with wd40 like you do in the video. Just realised after cleaning two of them that the wd40 is taking the black markings clean off. I'm left with two chisels which I don't know the sizes for. After seeing that I strongly suggest to people buying new Narex chisels not to use wd40, I'll have to find another way to clean the rest

Hi Steve, thanks for your comment ! Yes these would be a great option for bench work, they hold an awesome edge, these are a bit nicer and I wouldn’t recommend for beating on, but for general joinery work they are a great option, just make sure you use a mallet with them and not anything heavier 👍🏻
