How to Set Up a Back Up Plunger | Common questions about plungers answered Recurve Tuning

Спорт

Many questions about the Plunger in relation to recurve archery go unanswered, I do my best to answer those questions. I also show you exactly how to set up a back up plunger identical to your primary plunger on your bow.
This can help with building a backup set of equipment, or when comparing and contrasting different plungers in your equipment box.

So good to have these resources. I just bought a second plunger, and I remembered seeing a video from Jake about it. Lo and behold... everything I needed to set it up was in this video 🙌

Once again, thank you Jake! To set the plunger depths, I would use the depth gauge on the caliper that you used as a screwdriver. :D

Glad I came across this video. Was debating between getting the Beiter plunger or AAE Gold Micro Plunger, but got sold on the AAE (thanks for pointing out about the wear on the tip instead of the arrow!). Is there any chance that AAE Gold will come with...a gold color???

Hi Jake. Good stuff as always! What are your thoughts about plunger "maintenance" ? I have a rather cheap plunger (will be working on replacing that) and at some point I was getting left-right inconsistencies, and I noticed some binding or stickiness in the movement,I took it apart , cleaned it up and shoot some WD40 inside the tube, and all of a sudden my groups came together noticeably better. Is that a thing or was I just lucky?

Lucky for now, never use WD-40 on these, with time it will attract dirt and grime and or will gel over time and become sticky again, but WAY worse. No lube is best, but if you must a dry lube like graphite may be okay. Ill do a video for sure on it though.

Hi Jake, has there been more than one version of the AAE micro adjust button you helped develop? I’m considering an upgrade was going to go with Beiter until I found they damage arrow shafts, I have 3 Shibuya DXs I’ve been very happy with, but, would like click adjust for shooting 1440s and York rounds.

@@JakeKaminskiArchery I believe they come with both a Teflon and metal tip. And thus would I be right to say if one were using it, would be to go with the Teflon tip?

I used shibuya plunger for a very long time but switched to beiter somewhat recently and it was the best decision ever. I'm not advertising or anything but the difference in customisation ease and responsiveness is insane. You still need to take money aspect into consideration though.

@@leejohnson3959 I saw others referring the Teflon for aluminum arrows and brass for carbon. I to have been using Teflon on carbon and not finding any major were so far just a black dot in center of plunger but no noticeable concaving of plunger . So good to know I am not the only one .
